STRIKER: Independent Beast Tamer-Chapter 653: Confrontation!
5th Zone, City A
Head Office
Head Harold’s eyes flickered. He thought there was something wrong with the report. But he didn’t think they had anything to do with the death of the Skull Gang members.
Because he had heard everything from the City Governor. The death of the Skull Gang members was too clean. He doubted that any one of them could do that.
He then took a deep breath before saying, "We don’t know who killed the four Skull Gang members. The hostile forces are spreading false rumours against us."
"You guys could be targeted by other illegal organisations. So be careful," he added.
Hearing that, Leader Norman and the others were shocked. They had been worried about that. But they didn’t expect to hear something like this from Head Harold.
Leader Norman collected his thoughts. He then said, "Head, what are we supposed to do?"
Harold smiled and said, "Lay low for a while. Let the news settle down. I believe the truth will come out eventually. The City Administration has got many talented Beast Tamers."
"They will find out the truth," he added.
Leader Norman and the others accepted the situation. Then Head Harold told them to leave so they could continue with their work.
Then the team members left the office. Only after leaving the office did they feel at ease. Norman then looked at the members and said, "Like Head Harold said, we have to be low-key."
"Let’s take the next mission when the matter has settled down," he added.
Max sighed in relief. He was worried that they would be exposed today. But still, he had this feeling that Head Harold completely didn’t believe them.
"What are you thinking?" Norman asked.
Hearing that, the other members turned towards Max. Everyone knew that Max had a sharp mind. He was clever with his explanation today.
Max felt the gazes of everyone. He took a deep breath before saying, "I think Head Harold didn’t believe us. But fortunately, he wanted to confirm things about the killings. Since we didn’t do it, he let us go."
Gasp!
A small exclamation occurred.
The Tier-4 and Tier-3 Beast Tamers were shocked. They didn’t expect to hear this from a Senior. If Senior Max was saying this news, then it must be true.
Leader Norman collected his thoughts and said, "Let’s drop this matter. There is no need to discuss this issue."
They came to the lobby. But someone else was waiting for them at the sitting area. The person was none other than Jeremy Night.
Jeremy Night stood up and walked up to them.
Leader Norman, Max, Lily, and the other Beast Tamers saw Jeremy Night. Their expressions changed drastically.
Max’s eyes flashed with a cold glint. They were not the only group here. The staff and other teams were going about their business.
If any commotion occurred here, then the truth could be exposed.
"Norman, take him outside," Max said to Norman.
The other team members were worried as well. Only Lily had some guilty feelings.
Leader Norman was angry. This time he was truly disappointed at the young man, Jeremy.
"Come with me," Norman said to Jeremy.
Jeremy was about to confront the group about his share. He then felt the malicious intent from them. He was shocked inside.
He didn’t expect them to show this much animosity. He was angry and disappointed in his heart.
He then followed Leader Norman and exited the building. Max and the others watched them leave the building.
"You guys go back to your rooms. I’m going to check the situation," Max said to them in a serious tone.
Hearing that, the members looked at each other before leaving the place. Lily didn’t show any reaction. But she thought it wouldn’t be long before the truth came out.
She didn’t know what would happen then.
When everyone left the place, Max’s eyes turned cold.
He had warned the young man earlier. He didn’t know what he was planning to do now. He went towards the exit to leave.
Meanwhile,
Norman brought Jeremy Night back to the garden. Fortunately, there were not many people here. The few others were a distance away.
Norman said, "Jeremy, what do you want?"
"We told you not to expose things about the mission," he added.
Jeremy’s heart turned cold. He didn’t expect even the Team Leader to behave like this.
He said, "Leader Norman, you promised to give me the reward. But it’s been several days. Yet I didn’t receive anything."
"Reward," Norman uttered.
He then recalled the decision made by them. His eyebrows eased down. Looking at the young man, he didn’t know what to say.
He was the one who promised him to share the reward. But he didn’t know what to say right now.
Jeremy was staring at him. He was confused as well. He knew he was fooled by them. But he didn’t know why the leader made such a decision.
"Leader Norman, I trusted you. But you have failed me," Jeremy Night said to him.
Norman didn’t know what to say. The young man had caught him red-handed.
He was about to say something when he felt someone coming from behind.
Jeremy too noticed someone else was coming. He saw the person was none other than Tier-5 Beast Tamer Max.
He felt malicious intent from the person named Max. He thought he was the brain behind the team. Leader Norman was just a tool used by them.
Max said, "Norman, what’s happening here?"
Leader Norman was surprised. He didn’t expect Max to come here.
Max turned towards the young man, Jeremy Night.
He said, "I had warned you before. Don’t try to expose us. Do you really think the Seniors are nice to talk to? You are not even a Tier-3 Beast Tamer yet."
Jeremy Night’s heart turned cold. He was right; this person was bad. He must be behind the brainwashing of Team Leader Norman.
Norman saw things were turning bad. He didn’t want a conflict to happen.
"Let’s leave it here," Norman said.
Max was angry. He thought Norman was soft-hearted.
"Young man, if you don’t want your life to be miserable, then forget about this matter," Max said in a cold tone.
Hearing that, Jeremy was pissed off. The guy in front of him was testing his patience. Leader Norman was feeling bad as well.
