Dilapidated Building Area:

It didn't take long for the First Year Department Head, Derek, to record all the evidence. Then he used the same underground passage to return.

When he emerged from the underground passage a couple of minutes later, he saw Instructor Jacob waiting for him.

Upon seeing him, Instructor Jacob stepped forward.

He asked, "Head, what's going on?"

"Where does this underground passage lead to?"

Old man Derek wore a serious expression on his face. He saw that there were no others around.

"I have found something important. I need to discuss it with Dean Carolyn first. Until then, you have to be on guard here. Don't let anyone use the underground passage."

"If the Corrupted Beasts appear out of the passage, kill it," he said in a cold tone.

Jacob's expression turned serious. He didn't know what was going on, but from old man Derek's look, he could tell that the situation was f@cked up.

He then nodded to him.

"Good, I'm leaving then." After saying that, he left the place.

Jacob then once again patrolled the area to confirm security of the place.

The time was already post-midnight, only a few hours left before the morning sunrise. But old man Derek wanted to discuss matters with the Dean sooner.

So he sent her an emergency message. Dean Carolyn, who was in her residence, started upon receiving the message. She knew about the situation.

Instructor Jacob had updated her from time to time. If the First Year Department Head said something serious, then it must be true.

So she quickly changed her clothes and got ready a few minutes later. Then she went to her office.

Derek Gibson arrived at Central University 14 shortly after that.

He immediately went to the main administration building where the dean's office was located. He then quickly arrived at her office.

Creak!

The door opened automatically upon sensing the visitor.

He walked inside as the door shut automatically behind him. Dean Carolyn was sitting behind her desk.

Old man Derek went forward and sat with a solemn expression on his face.

"Derek, what is going on?"

"The matter is so serious that you disturbed my sleep," she said.

"Dean, the situation is serious. It has gone beyond our imagination." After saying that, he began to explain in detail.

About 10 minutes later,

Her expression started to change. At first, she was calm, but when she heard about the human traces behind the rat beast plague, she was shocked to the core.

No one dared to play this big, especially inside their City A walls. It meant the identity of those people was extraordinary.

There were not many powerful forces here. The ones present were the City Administration, Beast Taming Association, and a few Giant Multi Corporations.

The others were only Beast Taming Families who had their families based here. She didn't doubt them. Her suspicion fell on those corporations.

Because the City Administration was run by the Human Alliance for all the zones under them. They appointed City Governors to cities in all the zones.

Next, the Beast Taming Association was part of the Human Alliance as well. All the Beast Tamers were part of the Human Alliance, so she didn't doubt them either.

Then the only option left was the Corporations. These companies were backed by someone from the Human Alliance.

Apart from the backer, these companies were mostly independent. She knew it was the same case with the Mighty Order; the backer behind the Mighty Order was someone from the Human Alliance.

She worried this case was a similar incident.

When old man Derek explained everything, he looked at her.

She met his gaze and quickly collected her thoughts.

"Do you have evidence in your hand?"

"Make a copy of it. I'll send it to the City Administration," she said.

Hearing that, old man Derek took his digital device out and started to make a copy of the footage. When everything was done, he transferred one copy to her account.

Dean Carolyn then started to play the footage. The footage showed the last end of the passage connected to a random location inside the city.

There was human activity on the ground. After viewing the footage, she asked, "Did you find out where it's located?"

Derek shook his head. "The network connection was banned in that place. We can only trace it from outside by following the passage route. But I didn't have time for that; I came here right away."

"Okay, don't do anything for now. I'll ask the City Administration first. If they want to take it over, let them handle it. This is not something our university can manage," she said.

"Dean, we are also part of the Human Alliance. The people behind this scene won't dare to do anything to us," Derek argued.

Carolyn's eyes flickered.

She said, "If we were a university from the top 10 zones, these people wouldn't dare. But we are from Zone 14; these people might take a chance."

Hearing that, old man Derek's face turned ugly. He forgot about it. Their standing was not great among the top 10 Central Universities.

She then thought of something before asking, "By the way, that kid Jeremy knows about the truth."

"Yes, I guess that kid knows. I saw piles of corpses all the way to the end of the passage. He must have seen the human traces as well," old man Derek said.

"That kid is clever. Jacob informed me of something else. He told me that the kid had only found some passages connecting to other parts of the city. He then returned because of the Tier-4 Corrupted Beasts," she said.

"This..?" Old man Derek was taken aback.

He didn't expect the kid to stay silent after finding something significant. He then remembered the incident that happened in that kid's home, City C.

"Dean, I think Jeremy Night will stay silent. There is no need to worry about him," he said.

Sigh!

She let out a deep sigh.

"I'm worried that this incident will strengthen his resolve. His goal was to leave the city to enter the top 10 zones. If he finds the city is not safe anymore, he would do anything to leave it," Carolyn said in a serious tone.
