Stop Bothering Me, Emperor-Chapter 75 - Bar
Chapter 75 - Bar
Returning from New York would take at the very least a few hours by car; Song Xiao had basically been speaking blind nonsense when he said half an hour. After hanging up, he continued working.
Yu Tang came over and rubbed his head. “That girl’s looking for you?”
Song Xiao curled his lip. Asking him to go and pay – did she think that he had more money than sense?
Bai Qing was in a noisy bar and going over things with the bartender next to her. “You have to cooperate with me later. Tell that mister that I’m drunk, and advise him to take me away.” As she spoke, she gave the bartender some money.
The bartender took the money and whistled. “It’s best you drink a little, or else you’ll be exposed.”
Bai Qing took the alcohol which the bartender passed to her, swirled it, then gritted her teeth and downed it. The strong alcohol burned her throat, and she choked as her tears came out.
She was actually a student from an art school; her little aunt was a famous celebrity who had promised to arrange various resources for her if she entered a performing arts school. Unfortunately, her aunt ran into a block in her career two years ago, and was frozen by her company. Bai Qing got into a film school, but even though she looked sweet and pretty, it didn’t count for much in a school filled with handsome and beautiful people. Without additional resources, wanting to stand out was truly too hard.
At that time, little aunt had given her a sum of money and got her to study abroad.
“If he’s ruined, I’ll become the mistress of the Song family. When that time comes, you’ll have all the resources you could ever want.” This was the task that her aunt, Qiu Mingyan, had given her. However, after so many days of interacting with Song Xiao, Bai Qing changed her mind.
Song Xiao was the prince of the Song family; if she became Song Xiao’s girlfriend, what resource wouldn’t she be able to get? What need would there be to see that woman, Qiu Mingyan, who was past her prime?
“How are your preparations coming along?” Qiu Mingyan suddenly gave her a call.
Bai Qing drunkenly answered the call and giggled. “All done. He’ll be here in half an hour.”
“Increase the dosage, so that he’ll become addicted on the first go,” Qiu Mingyan instructed worriedly.
Bai Qing gave a vague reply and hung up. Not long after, a black man with tattoos walked over and secretly passed her a bag. Bai Qing was frightened and looked at the man, but he left without any expression on his face.
Qiu Mingyan wanted Bai Qing to lure Song Xiao into taking drugs, so Bai Qing had bought some in the bar. Unexpectedly, Qiu Mingyan had already arranged for someone to prepare and give her the things. Looking at the man in alarm, Bai Qing saw him sit down in an unremarkable corner and stare at her the entire time.
After waiting a long while, Song Xiao still hadn’t arrived.
“It’s almost an hour already. Where’s your young sir?” the bartender asked with a smile.
“I’ll call him again.” Bai Qing drank another glass and called Song Xiao again.
On Song Xiao’s side, the project team had already finished their work and was about to head out for dinner. Yu Tang brought everyone to a Chinese restaurant, and they cheered.
In America, Chinese dishes were considered fine dining.
There were less than ten people on the team; including Yu Tang and Song Xiao, it was just enough for a table. Yu Tang ordered a pile of dishes, all of them Song Xiao’s favourites, as well as a pot of Longjing tea. He then gave the menu to the red-haired girl on his left. “Anna, you order dessert ba. I don’t know what girls like.”
“Thank you, boss!” Anna cheered as she took the menu. She didn’t know Chinese desserts either, so she asked the girl next to her and selected a few expensive ones.
Blondie couldn’t sit still. His butt had only just touched the seat, but he couldn’t help twisting around. “This is our project team’s very first meal; how about we sing a song?”
The others ignored him; they continued talking or using their phones.
“If you’re in the mood for it, then you sing a song.” Yu Tang raised his chin and indicated for the blond to sing by himself.
Hearing this, the others raised their heads one by one as the male colleagues beside Blondie began to make a ruckus about it.
Song Xiao raised the teacup and slowly drank his tea as he quietly observed Yu Tang. His Majesty the emperor had already adapted to modern life, but was still the emperor who knew how to use people.
Blondie was lively. He had subpar skills, but could change the mood, and acted shamelessly on the surface for benefits. Anna was very beautiful and arrogant, like a princess, but she was very capable, so Yu Tang flattered her and gave her respect so that she would do her best at work. Yu Tang took those with no sense of existence into account when he spoke, while he would arrange some work for those who were too noisy.
Through just one meal, Song Xiao could see Yu Tang’s strategy for handling people.
The eternal emperor’s EQ was pretty high, except when it came to Song Xiao. Song Xiao couldn’t help pursing his lips to hide a laugh.
“What are you laughing at? Hurry up and eat,” Yu Tang told him, and gave him a pork chop.
Just when the mood was good, Song Xiao’s phone rang again. Once again, it was Bai Qing.
“Song Xiao, hurry up and save me; there’s a bad guy here bothering me, wuwu…” Bai Qing’s voice was a sob.
“Why would you go to a place like that?” Song Xiao frowned slightly. Was this another attempt after an unsuccessful first try?
“Wuwuwu…” Bai Qing cried and screamed, and sounded especially genuine.
Song Xiao was too impatient to continue listening, and told her he would notify the school to go look for her, then hung up. He then called Halun University security to inform them that a female student was being harassed in a bar near the campus and had called him for help.
The security staff suggested that he call the police. “That isn’t within our range of responsibility, sir.”
American schools weren’t as responsible as in China; if a situation like this happened in a Chinese school, regardless of whether it was genuine or not, the teachers would always go and take a look.
Bai Qing really had been telling the truth. She had originally called Song Xiao in order to urge him to hurry, but a rogue had walked over from somewhere and embraced her, frightening her into screaming nonstop.
“Shut up, little whore.” The hoodlum was very brawny, and the petite Bai Qing couldn’t struggle free. “Seeing how lonely you were, big brother came over to accompany you.”
Her call to Song Xiao connected at that moment, so she seized the opportunity to directly speak up. Who knew that Song Xiao would tell her that something had come up at the last minute and he couldn’t come, so he would transfer the money to her. What use did she have for money now? She needed someone to save her.
“If you keep going, I’ll report you to the cops,” Bai QIng yelled loudly as she kicked and hit that hoodlum and cried out to the man in the corner for help. However, the man had only come to deliver the goods, not keep her safe, so he merely sat there leisurely and watched the show.
“Oh, she’s a Chinese exchange student. If something happens to her in the bar, it’ll probably be on tomorrow’s front page.” Song Xiao threw this sentence at Halun University’s management and hung up, and called the police while he was at it.
It was very dangerous at night in America. If you hung around in bars or subway stations at night, the police wouldn’t have any sympathy for you if something happened.
As a result, when the police rushed over, Bai Qing’s clothes had already been torn open. The police arrested the gangster, then brought Bai Qing out. Bai Qing was so frightened that her face was ashen as she trembled in a corner. At this time, the Halun University security had also hurried over after Song Xiao frightened them.
The police had originally come to protect Bai Qing. When they wanted her to show them her ID, Halun University school authorities proactively stepped forward and said that they heard that she was a student at their school.
The US didn’t have IDs, so university students used something similar to a student ID. Bai Qing whimpered for a long time and took out an ID from a community college.
“Oh, bullshit. You’re not a student from our school?” The person from Halun University was very unhappy after being made to run around in the middle of the night for nothing, and promptly gave Song Xiao a call. “Mr. Song, this young lady you mentioned isn’t a student from our school at all.”
“How can that be?” Song Xiao pretended to be very astonished.
But the police didn’t care about that. Just when they were about to bring Bai Qing to the hospital, they accidentally discovered drugs on her.
