Stolen By My Billionaire Brother-In-Law-Chapter 57: Just Deskmates?
Azrael’s fists clenched tightly, his knuckles turning white. It had been only a few seconds, but the fact that the man was still holding her made his mood darken further. Standing behind him, Callum could already feel the dark clouds hovering over Azrael.
"He must be a close friend," Callum tried to comfort him, but it only earned him a deadly glare. With a scowl, he shut his mouth and let Azrael suffer. Inwardly, he hoped they could even kiss each other right in front of him. Azrael deserved it!
And as if the gods had heard his wish, the man pressed a kiss on Rivana’s head. Callum’s mouth opened in shock. Just what was their relationship that they were this close? Was he her hidden boyfriend? he thought, staring at the couple.
Much to his relief, Rivana broke the hug. She took a step back and wiped away her tears. Feeling someone shooting fire in their direction, she turned to her right to find Azrael and Callum standing there.
"When did he wake up?" she wondered with a pout. Azrael hadn’t been able to get enough sleep ever since he had stepped into Valencia, and seeing him sleep like a baby earlier, she had hoped he would sleep for more. She turned around to the man in front of her.
"Come. I will introduce them," she said. The man nodded with a smile and followed her.
"Who is he?" Callum asked the question his boss was throwing with his eyes.
"He is my high school friend, Sebastian," Rivana introduced him.
Walking to Azrael, she stood beside him before holding his arm. "And this is my husband, Azrael Dynar," she said with a smile.
Callum felt the dark clouds suddenly disappear, and he looked at Azrael, who wasn’t scowling anymore. He seemed pleased, and that made Callum sigh in relief.
Rivana turned to Callum and introduced him, "And he is Callum, his friend."
Sebastian smiled at the two men. Extending his hand, he said, "Nice to meet you, Mr. Dynar."
"Sebastian?" Azrael mused, taking the hand. Sebastian flinched as Azrael gripped it hard, narrowing his eyes in confusion. Even Rivana looked at Azrael, trying to stop him.
Callum stepped forward before Azrael could break his fingers. Forcing them to break the handshake, he awkwardly laughed. "He was asking about your surname," he added, referring to Azrael’s question.
"Oh, Quinn," Sebastian replied with a forced smile. "Sebastian Quinn."
Azrael nodded and glanced at Callum, who understood his mission. Then turning to his wife, Azrael murmured, "Let’s go inside." He wrapped his hand around her waist, pulling her close. His possessiveness was quite visible to everyone.
Rivana hid back a smile and nodded. Looking at Sebastian, she said, "Leave after lunch."
Sebastian nodded, and they all walked back into the mansion. In the hall, they were greeted by George and Ezekiel, who were talking among themselves.
"Oh, here they are," Ezekiel murmured with a sigh. His eyes then fell on the man beside Rivana and then to his nephew on the other side. He looked at Callum, who made a sign of cutting his own throat, indicating the situation was far graver than he hoped it would not be.
Rivana introduced Sebastian to Ezekiel, and after exchanging a greeting, they all settled on the couch. Ezekiel scanned the guy and asked Rivana, "So, you went to the same high school?"
Rivana nodded with a smile. "Yes. We were deskmates." Her answer only made Azrael burn more.
Ezekiel smiled at the man. But Sebastian didn’t seem that young and appeared a few years older than Rivana. Ezekiel decided to interrogate him.
"So, what do you do, young man?"
"I finished my graduation in psychology." Smiling at Rivana, he added, "And I am thinking of opening my clinic here soon."
Oh, so that’s how he crumbled Rivana’s walls? Callum thought, nodding to himself. He must have used his studies to make her release her pent-up emotions, or maybe they were just close enough to share such moments. He couldn’t quite guess, but he was glad both would torture Azrael for sure.
Ezekiel nodded. "That’s good. What do your parents do?"
Sebastian fell silent at the question. Rivana quickly answered on his behalf, "Both his parents died during an accident when he was 17. He was later adopted by Maria, my nanny."
"Ah, so that’s how you were connected?" Ezekiel tried to put everything together.
"Yes. We spent most of the time together, but then he decided to chase his dream to become a doctor and completely ghosted me," Rivana muttered, playfully glaring at Sebastian.
Thanks to him, her high school days were a little more pleasant. And even at home, whenever Rafaelo tried to bully her, Sebastian would step up to help her. But four years ago, he left along with Maria and never showed up.
"Seems like he is a really good friend," Ezekiel murmured, and when Rivana nodded, he couldn’t help but glance at Azrael beside her. Oh, he was breathing fire through his nose. But they were just friends, and he needed to be chill about it.
"The reason I came here was to talk about something, Riva," Sebastian pressed on the matter. Earlier, he was about to speak, but she brought up how Maria was doing. He had to tell her the harsh truth that Maria had left two years ago, and that had broken her into tears. After all, Maria had taken care of her for decades.
Meanwhile, Azrael scoffed out loud, barely hiding his discontent. Riva? What absurd nickname was that?!
Rivana glanced at him and blinked in confusion. But she quickly turned to Sebastian, feeling it was something urgent. "Alright. Let’s talk about it first," she nodded.
But just as she was about to get up, Azrael held her hand. Looking at Sebastian, he declared, "Talk whatever it is here."
"It’s something private," Sebastian replied without a hint of fear on his face. Yes, he was her husband, but that didn’t mean he could control her like this. And he wasn’t going to put up with it.
"This is a private space," Callum quickly covered up again. Laughing out loud, he added, "Trust me, no one will spy on us." But no one else laughed at his joke, so he instantly shut up.
Rivana looked at Azrael and then back at Sebastian. Why was she suddenly pushed to choose one? With a sigh, she looked at Sebastian and asked, "What is it about?"
Sebastian was a little taken aback but quickly said, "It’s about Chairman Faye’s death."
Rivana felt her headache coming back at his words. With a sigh, she nodded and replied, "Let’s talk here." When Sebastian didn’t sit back, unwilling to agree, she added, "They are all my close ones. It’s fine."
Azrael finally let go of his wife’s hand. He smiled as she sat beside him, looking at Sebastian in front of him.
Sebastian looked at Azrael, his expression a mix of determination and frustration. Taking a deep breath, he looked at Rivana and started, "I don’t think his death was because of a heart attack." Sighing, Sebastian continued, "I think it was a murder."
