Chapter 644:

TL: Rui88

“Dee-dee-dee…dee…!”

Amidst the loud sound of the bugle, the lord’s mansion guards, serving as the honor guard, stood in two straight lines on either side of the main gate.

Amidst the cheers of the crowd in Lakeheart Town, Gran, the commander of the Western Exploration Team, walked step by step to the front of the lord’s mansion.

Paul, leading a group of officials from the Administration Council, greeted Gran and several of his deputies at the entrance.

When Gran drew near, Paul took a step forward and tightly embraced the explorer.

“Please forgive my honesty, but before I heard the news of your return, I always thought you were not coming back!”

“That is understandable, Lord Grayman. If it were me, it would be hard not to think the same way.”

Paul took Gran’s hand and led him into the lord’s mansion, all the way to the great hall.

A sumptuous banquet had already been laid out here, specially set up to welcome the heroic adventurers of the Western Exploration Team.

After everyone was seated, Paul raised his glass and shouted loudly, “I propose that we toast to the great achievements of Mr. Gran and his companions.”

“Cheers!”

“Cheers!”

Everyone raised their glasses in response to Paul’s proposal and drank the wine in their cups in one gulp.

“Gentlemen!” Paul’s face was flushed, showing his high spirits.

“I can assert that the discovery of the Western Exploration Team…directly proving with action that the earth beneath our feet is round…will be one of the most important discoveries in human history. This will largely reshape our worldview and profoundly affect the course of our future history.”

“Even now, I still find it incredible,” Hansel chimed in. “That the earth beneath our feet is round. It is hard to imagine what that would be like.”

Paul looked at Gran. “Then, let us invite Mr. Gran to tell us about their strange adventures.”

The experiences of the Western Exploration Team would, of course, be written into a detailed report for him to read, but he could not wait for the day the official report was completed.

“Lord Grayman,” Gran asked first, “the other two exploration teams… what is their situation?”

On the way to Lakeheart Town, Gran had already learned that the Northern Exploration Team and the Eastern Exploration Team had returned, but he had not heard the latest news about them. Had they been disbanded? Or had they been given other important tasks?

“Oh, right, I should have told you about their latest situation first! Haha.”

“Stanford, and the members of the Northern Exploration Team, have now gone north of the Rocky Mountains again. Several trading posts have been opened there, and they are trading with the local natives. You have no idea, the furs, medicinal herbs, and minerals produced there are of excellent quality. And we will be promoting advanced agricultural technology there, building new farms, and attracting the natives to work on our farms.”

“As for Nigel and his Eastern Exploration Team, they discovered a new landmass to the southeast of the continent. The natives living on it are actually the legendary elves. I have sent Nigel and his subordinates there again to try and establish a friendship with the elves. There is a mineral there that greatly interests me.”

“Elves?” Gran’s eyebrows twitched.

“Yes, elves!” Paul threw up his hands dramatically. “I say, since you came back from another direction, did you not encounter them on the way?”

“Lord Grayman, please allow me to recount our experiences from the beginning…”

Gran began to narrate his adventure.

“At the beginning, we pushed forward into the depths of the sea. The ocean was so vast and boundless that we thought that apart from the continent where our home was, the rest of the world was all seawater. But just as we were disheartened and preparing to return, we encountered a small archipelago. The islands were covered with forests, various plants, and animals.”

“We obtained supplies from these islands. The Lord of Light may have blessed us wanderers. We discovered a magical tree on the islands. The fruit of the tree was large and round, and after being roasted, it was like bread. We temporarily call it the breadfruit tree. Then we obtained some meat through hunting.”

“The discovery of the islands gave us new confidence. If we continued to sail, we might encounter even larger landmasses. So we continued to sail. Very fortunately, we found an ocean current. With the power of the current, we sailed even faster! Then we successively discovered a series of islands, and the supplies we obtained from these islands supported us to continue sailing.”

“Finally, after drifting for four months, we finally encountered a continent. Not some large island, but a real continent!”

At this point, Gran’s eyes widened, and he looked around at everyone present.

“My lords, do you know what is on that continent?”

He unsurprisingly received curious gazes from everyone.

“Orcs!”

“Orcs?” Paul said in surprise. “There are orcs on the continent opposite us too?”

“No, not the kind of orcs we have here!” Gran explained. “We call the races on the other side of the Rocky Mountains orcs because they are savage and unreasonable, and their bodies are hairy, resembling wild beasts. But strictly speaking, we cannot find any beast in reality that corresponds to them.”

“But on another continent, we discovered a native race that actually had the head of a bull on a human body.”

“Oh…!” A series of gasps rang out at the banquet, and everyone’s eyes were filled with shock.

“Bull-headed people?” Paul said this term without thinking.

Gran nodded. “You could say that, Lord Grayman. From the mouths of these natives, we learned that on that continent, they are not the only ones with heads like bulls. There are other races with the characteristics of other animals. The social structure of these races is still quite primitive, and they live scattered across the continent in the form of individual tribes.”

“Then we also learned that to the south of this continent, there is another continent, on which there is only one race…the goat-people!”

“The civilization of the goat-people is more developed, and they have established several true kingdoms…”

Paul interjected, “Do they have goat heads?”

“No!” Gran shook his head. “Their appearance is the same as ours, but they have horns like goats or sheep on their heads. Their limbs are also hands and feet, not hooves. Because they have a more advanced civilization, the natives on the northern continent respectfully call them the Ascendant Race.”

Paul smiled. “Interesting.”

He immediately thought of creatures like succubi.

But Gran’s face suddenly turned ugly. “Lord Grayman, unfortunately, when we visited the port of the goat-people, some of our men were… detained by them!”

I’ll be busier for the next few months, so there will be fewer updates.
