Chapter 1042: Chapter 1042 Miracle - Wrath (Bonus Chapter, request for votes)
Although there stood a human-like creature, Shard and the doctor clearly saw the true form resembling a sludge.
"Finish it quickly, the church’s people are coming. Oh, doctor, don’t forget to..."
"Leave the final blow to you."
The doctor nodded. Shard did this because the trial of the [Prankster Boy] was for him and the two witches. If the final blow was completed by the doctor, then the Radiant Stone would be lost.
Leaning against the wall, the demon weakly laughed:
"Did you think I wasn’t expecting this?"
A door opened in the darkness. With the opening of that ancient door, the gray angel statue that was restrained by the doctor on the rooftop slid here with the screeching sound of the stone base scraping against the floor.
Shard’s expression did not change:
"Doctor, you handle the demon. Iluna, help me hold it off! We can’t afford any delays." freeweɓnøvel~com
"Alright!"
The doctor charged towards Victor Vanny, who was attempting to escape to the moonlit side terrace. Shard blocked the way between the doctor and the angel since the [Weeping Angel] would target those using demon power, but Shard’s estimate was completely wrong.
The gray stone base rotated with a screeching sound, and the angel covering its face turned towards the direction of the two princesses, then quickly slid towards them in the dark.
Iluna, who was already beside Lecia, didn’t recognize what it was at first, but still threw the sunlight gun in her hand.
However, this attack completely missed as the angel statue vanished, crossing space to appear beside Lecia, its gray hands lowering, facing the two princesses.
"Don’t look!"
Shard stepped forward, closing his eyes to stand between the [Weeping Angel] and the princesses. His right foot stomped to activate the "Spatial Stabilization Aura," preventing the statue from moving again, as he heard "her" voice:
[Move aside, it’s reaching for you.]
Anything mortal touched by the [Weeping Angel] would disappear from the material world. Shard immediately dodged to the side. Behind him, the Matchstick Girl, the Sleeping Princess, and Assassin Jack appeared as the princesses’ Rings of Fate whirled.
The three collectively shielded the princesses, but as the angel’s gray hands touched them, they also vanished from this world. This momentary obstruction gave Princess Margaret and Lecia time to evade. Iluna, realizing what it was and the relic, didn’t approach recklessly but used the light from the Golden Scales hovering above her head to suppress the relic’s power:
"Now look at its face, as long as it doesn’t exceed two seconds, you won’t be petrified!"
With a scrape, the gray statue relentlessly moved towards the two princesses, completely ignoring Shard’s [Spatial Stabilization Aura], vanishing before Shard and reappearing behind the princesses, reaching out its hands to them.
Lecia and Princess Margaret tried to retreat but found their legs couldn’t move. The gray arms almost touched their faces but stopped abruptly.
Two arms encircled the statue’s body, holding it from behind. Shard, already in a bad state, endured his internal rage and worry, pressing his chest against the statue’s back, forcibly halting it:
"Lecia, Princess Margaret, go quickly!"
"Shard, let go!"
Iluna’s voice came from behind, finally calling out Shard’s name. The princesses understood the reason for the shout; the angel relinquished reaching them, slowly retreating without pushing Shard backward. It began "retreating" into Shard’s body, attempting to assimilate his flesh.
At the junction of their bodies, the gray petrified skin spread across Shard’s entire form. His movements became stiff, and the expression in his eyes rapidly faded.
"Is he really Shard Hamilton?"
Princess Margaret hadn’t had time to be surprised when she saw Lecia trying to rush forward to hold Shard, urgently pulling her back:
"Don’t get close."
Iluna, now anxiously at Shard’s side:
"This is bad, what do we do in this situation?"
Iluna didn’t dare directly touch the [Weeping Angel] statue, instead exerting influence using [Balance]. Yet this still couldn’t stop the angel statue from slowly retreating into Shard’s body. Within just two or three breaths, Shard’s body’s surface had almost entirely become gray stone, and stony, curled wings grew from his back.
"No need to worry, Shard won’t die that easily."
Princess Margaret pulled Lecia along, while Iluna remained very calm. The seventeen-year-old girl had witnessed countless grand scenes with Shard, seen the traces of divine afterglow on Shard’s skin, and she trusted Shard deeply:
"His life force is as vigorous as a bonfire, no need to..."
She pursed her lips and looked at the two princesses:
"Speaking of which, what’s your relationship with him?"
Suddenly, bright fiery lines appeared on the surface of Shard’s statue, with cracks spreading from his heart across the entire statue, making the gray stone surface look as if magma was flowing through it.
Then the firelight extinguished, and dazzling golden cracks immediately followed, creating even denser lines on the formerly smooth statue.
The embers of the Primal Fire and the divine afterglow alternated shining on the statue’s surface, bringing a look of joy to Iluna’s face:
"I knew it, Shard has seen so much, how could he die here?"
Lecia looked at him with reddened eyes, and Princess Margaret knew that Shard had put himself in danger to protect them. She thought of how he seemed to always help them since they met, and she bit her lip nervously.
In fact, at that moment, Shard had not lost consciousness. When the Gray Stone Angel "retreated" into his body, not only did the angel want to melt his flesh, but Shard also absorbed the vast spirit fused with him from the relic.
Miracle Elements and Whisper Elements together replenished the spirit that had been depleted due to the intense battle. His body turned to stone, but he remained calm, as the Primal Fire flowing within him and the divinity in his soul would not allow him to be assimilated by other powers.
Divinity and the Fire of the Primordial held a rank far above the Weeping Angel. Although this angel statue was dangerous, it was only a sage-level relic.
In the petrified state, he couldn’t speak, but he still heard "her" soft laughter in his ear. As the stone and his flesh merged, Shard could clearly feel the cold texture of the stone and, since it had become one with him, even discerned its exact composition.
But more crucially, Shard sensed the twisted nature within the Weeping Angel’s shell. He couldn’t understand what the Weeping Angel truly was, but he was surprised to find that in their mutual fusion, his rage at the demon for involving Lecia was somehow influencing the angel.
"This is a process of mutual influence."
"Her" laughter continued to relax Shard:
"Devouring is always a two-way process."
The Primal Fire and Divinity began to play their roles as Shard expected. But to his surprise, the relic seemed only to create a layer of petrified skin on his surface, while internally, it seemed that his flesh was assimilating the stone statue.
He could clearly feel both sides merging but also perceived that this fusion felt like his body, bit by bit, was turning the cold stone statue into a part of himself.
The sensation of his skin devouring the stone was quite strange, yet the rapidly flowing spirit into his body indeed made him feel increasingly better. When this mutual fusion reached a certain limit, he seemed to hear a vague whisper:
"You are also stone..."
The accumulation of spirit and elements reached an extreme at that moment, and the power touching the nature of the relic finally coalesced into Shard’s new strength.
In the darkness, a large steam mist gushed out, the scorching white airflow forcing the three young ladies to retreat, with Iluna’s face showing a hint of excitement.
In the depths of the white steam mist resonating with the glimmer on Shard’s surface, the large shadow of the Ring of Fate kept approaching.
Amidst the sound of bells and steam whistles, a massive hammer struck behind Shard, revealing the rapidly spinning Brass Life Ring in full view.
"Four Rings?"
It was only at this moment that Princess Margaret finally understood Shard’s true Circle Sorcerer level, leading to more questions.
The power belonging to the sage-level relic, the Weeping Angel, flowed along Shard’s body and gathered on the rapidly spinning Ring of Fate. In the few brief seconds when Whisper Elements and Miracle Elements interwove, the golden Miracle Element completely gained the upper hand.
"After the God’s departure, a mortal craftsman encountered that mad formless angel in a dream, in madness allowing it to return to the material world. When the Weeping Angel touched the Outlander’s dream, the angel, originally devoid of emotion, learned the meaning of wrath."
"Relic - Weeping Angel, grants you a new power."
"Outlander, you have engraved the Golden Miracle Spirit Rune - Rage."
The Weeping Angel shouldn’t have possessed the power of rage, but because of the fusion with Shard, it was instead influenced by his intense emotions at that moment, granting Shard the power representing his own emotions.
And as the speed of the Ring of Fate’s rotation decreased, the golden Spirit Rune had manifested on the surface of the ring. The sealed Desecration - Red Moon, the Desecration gained from absorbing divinity - Thunder, the Whisper gained when drawing the Aikenora-Arrow of Knowledge - Power, and the Miracle - Rage of this moment.
Shard was now just one Enlightenment Spirit Rune away from ascending to Five Rings. After nearly two months of postponed Saturday night classes, perhaps it was time to let Lecia and Dorothy restart them. Although romantic meetings with the young ladies were delightful, the pursuit of strength could not be halted.
Thinking of Lecia, the rage Shard felt when the demon attempted to target her reignited. He did not suppress his emotions, instead allowing this feeling that seemed able to bring explosive power to his being to flood his mind.
