Starting With SSS-rank: I Get A New Skill Every Livestream-Chapter 51: Recovery and complication
"Ahhhh...Blake!" His mother held him tightly and wept aloud. Her fingers trembled, her voice fragile as she clung to him in desperation.
On the other side, Blake saw his father as well. His eyes were moist, his lips trembling with emotion. He wanted to cry, but as always, he held onto his pride.
Blake could only sigh at the sight. He patted his mother’s back and said, "It’s okay now, Mother. I am safe."
The woman slowly pulled away and asked, "But how did this happen? I checked on you last night, and you seemed the same."
His father stepped closer and added, "Yes, Blake. What is the cause behind this miracle? Do you know anything?"
If Blake mentioned Kyle, the conversation would begin with disbelief and end in suspicion.
Knowing his father, Blake was certain Mathew would investigate the matter and discuss it with others, trying to understand the treatment that could revive even a dead man.
Kyle might not mind his parents knowing, but Blake knew his father better than him.
That was why he said, "I am uncertain at the moment. But more importantly, I want both of you to remain silent about my recovery."
The two exchanged a glance before the man of the house asked, "But why, son? Wouldn’t it be better to let people know? Our backers have already begun pulling away after hearing about your condition."
Blake sighed. "Father... in my current state, I would be dead again if the news got out. The one targeting me and our family is still out there."
Mathew fell silent, and the woman’s eyes widened at his words.
Blake continued, "Just pretend nothing has changed and let things unfold as they are. If my guess is right, we will recover quickly once I return to business."
Mathew nodded in understanding. He knew Blake’s reach and influence. Blake had been invited by PSC twice to become one of their officers, that alone shows how capable he was. If he was confident in his recovery, Mathew had no reason to doubt him.
Then Mathew said, "If we are keeping this from the world, Kyle should not be an exception. We should not tell him either, to keep this matter tightly sealed."
Blake looked at his father, his lips barely holding back a smirk.
’You still trust your parents, Kyle... but the feeling isn’t mutual.’
Shaking his head, Blake turned his thoughts back to work.
There was something he needed to erase from existence.

[Paranormal Suppression Corps Headquarters]
[3:30 PM]
"Commander? Did you receive the report from Ethan?"
A middle-aged man with a stern face, short black hair, and the physique of a military veteran entered the room as he spoke.
Veronica leaned back in her chair and turned toward him. "Yes, I did, Deputy."
The man narrowed his eyes. "And yet you haven’t sent an investigation team to the incident site?"
Veronica calmly folded her arms over her lap before replying, "As someone second in command, you know just as well as I do how scarce our manpower is right now. And this matter isn’t trivial enough to justify deploying the CPB."
The man, Deputy Chief Timothy Dorrack, lowered his head slightly and clasped his hands behind his back before muttering, "I apologize for speaking this way, but Commander, you are taking this matter far too lightly."
His grip around his wrist tightened as he added, "Even in the logs, the number of rogues of this nature is very low. But every single one of them has proven to be a serious threat to public safety."
Veronica was well aware of how often someone could awaken Genesis without coming under the PSC’s radar.
And if the PSC failed to contain the rogue or at least gather intel, the government would place the blame on the corps and, ultimately, on the commanding officer of the base.
That explained the man’s concern.
"This is not how you operate, Veronica," he finally looked up and said. "You didn’t earn your position by being careless, so don’t let a single mistake become a reason for distrust."
Veronica didn’t retaliate. She knew he wasn’t challenging her authority, only urging her to be more decisive. Timothy respected her methods, but this incident had clearly unsettled him.
After a brief pause, she asked, "What’s your suggestion, Deputy?"
"Hunt on sight," he responded almost immediately. "I have a strong feeling this rogue is a young student, like Amanda and the others, and is studying at the same university. That makes it highly likely he will interfere with the upcoming mission as well. So give Ethan and his group a free hand in this matter. Let them judge the battlefield and decide what must be done to stop the rogue."
Veronica’s fingers tightened, her knuckles turning white.
The thought of someone going after Kyle with such intentions unsettled her deeply.
For a moment, she wanted to slam the man’s face into the wall and erase every piece of evidence that could endanger Kyle.
But that would only complicate things.
So she inhaled slowly and said, "I will think about it."
The Deputy narrowed his eyes but said nothing further.
He excused himself soon after and left the room.
’Just as I thought... the Commander is keeping this matter under tight control... but why?’
The question took root in his mind, and Timothy intended to uncover the truth down to its very core.
.....
Kyle returned to his room at three o’clock.
He hadn’t run all the way home, nor had he stopped for a workout, and yet he felt exhausted.
Dropping onto his bed, he shook his head. "I need to do something about myself."
He had caused Veronica more trouble, and this time, he knew she might risk her position to protect him.
Over the past few days, he had stirred up far too much chaos, especially after what he had done yesterday.
Today’s incident alone was enough to expose his identity.
Just when he was feeling all depressed and anxious, a message popped up,
[I have a solution to all your problems.]
