Starting from Robinson Crusoe-Chapter 88 - 32: Shipment Arrived (Part 3)
Under the baptism of sunlight and sea breeze, small cracks have appeared on the surface planks of the raft.
"Whenever there's time, we should dismantle the raft and bring it to the camp. Even if we burn such good wood as firewood, it's better than letting the woodworms eat it here."
Walking all the way to the beach, his gaze instinctively glanced at the ground.
Chen Zhou suddenly spotted a giant cardboard box about one point three or four meters long.
"?"
"What does this mean?"
A tranquil heart suddenly became restless; he never dreamed that this time he would score a big prize.
"Wow, something this big, even if it's just a plastic toy, it's not an ordinary one; this must be worth at least a hundred or two hundred bucks!"
He sprinted, not minding the sea breeze blowing off his broad-brimmed hat, almost at a hundred-meter dash speed, Chen Zhou reached the box.
The outside of the box was as simple as always, plain yellow corrugated paper, relatively long, narrowly about forty to fifty centimeters wide, and about twenty centimeters high, wrapped with yellow semi-transparent tape.
Knocking on the box with his knuckles, the sound was rather hollow, which made it clear that the object inside couldn't completely fill the entire box.
"It's probably not a household appliance; household appliances generally don't have this shape.
Besides, household appliances are the worst reward because I don't have electricity here."
Fingers dug into the top of the box and picked it up.
It felt very heavy, about seventeen or eighteen pounds, and the weight was uneven, concentrated at one end.
"This...
Feels like some kind of metal product."
Almost certain that this reward wasn't anything mediocre, Chen Zhou's mood instantly soared from low to high, enjoying the thrill of guessing the item from outside the box.
"Could it be that they know I'm going to have a fight with the natives, so they rewarded me with an automatic rifle?
Or maybe a sniper rifle? Hopefully, with a few extra bullets..." 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
Unable to believe his own conjecture, Chen Zhou eagerly tore open the box, ready to see the true nature of the reward.
Inside, the items were wrapped in a thick layer of shockproof foam, covered with a thin plastic bag. Through the transparent plastic bag, he saw a Long-handled Axe with a leather sheath and another similarly styled Hand Axe.
Besides the two axes, the box also contained a Dagger about twenty centimeters long, a bag of wedges used for reinforcing the axe head, a bottle of wood maintenance oil, and a complimentary, possibly wedge-hammering small claw hammer.
"Damn, am I still dreaming?
Why does this feel so unreal?
The fourth draw is finally guaranteed?"
Finally getting a practical tool, overwhelmed with happiness, Chen Zhou felt he might faint from joy.
"Two months, a full two months!"
He tore open the transparent plastic bag, grabbed the axe, and pulled out the Long-handled Axe, the longest one.
The entire long axe, with the handle, was about one point one meters long, weighing around five or six pounds. The wood of the axe handle was dark, carbonized, and polished just right, able to be gripped tightly yet not rough, with no wood knots affecting its strength, indicating careful material selection.
The part connecting the axe head was reinforced, increasing structural strength, making it less likely to break.
The axe blade was rather wide, around 12 centimeters, with the back made into a flat hammer-like structure.
Chopping on the front, hammering on the back, the axe served dual purposes.
The axe blade was chillingly shiny, with the metal surface transitioning to the end bearing marks of forging, appearing rugged yet artistic.
The hammer part had a line of steel stamping, presumably a famous axe factory, but Chen Zhou wasn't familiar with it.
Picking up the small axe, he gently tapped the back of the small axe against the back of the large axe, listening to the crisp, ceramic-like sound, he became even more certain that this reward was quite valuable.
The hardness of ceramic can reach Mohs hardness 7, while ordinary steel hardness ranges from 5.5 to 6.
The ability to make such a collision sound indicated that the heat treatment of the two axes was excellent and the steel was top-notch.
If this axe were put against a carpenter's best axe in a duel test, the carpenter's axe would be directly notched, while this axe would remain unscathed.
In the 17th century, these two axes would undoubtedly be peerless weapons, hard to find in the world.
Those hard ironwood trees would be no match for its sharp axe blade.
As would human bones!
