Starting from a Bar to Sign Internet Celebrities-Chapter 68 - 66: Holy Shit, Unbelievable
"What? Don’t believe what I’m saying?" Chen Jincheng could tell what Yijin and his crew were thinking just by looking at them. He chuckled and said, "Fine, I’ll shoot a video right now!"
As he spoke, he pulled out his phone and walked over to the tea table.
Seeing that he was serious, Yijin and the others all took out their phones and started filming him.
’Got to get proof.’
Chen Jincheng was already filming the power outlet, reciting a line from another world as he did: "Believe it or not, I can get a million likes just by filming a random power outlet!"
After he finished filming, he came up with the title "Just Filming," uploaded it, and simultaneously used the "Useless Quirk Heat Card (1 Million Likes)."
A notification from the game system appeared right after:
[Congratulations! You have used the "Useless Quirk Heat Card (1 Million Likes)." This video will receive 1 million likes’ worth of heat after being uploaded. This will be completed within 5 hours!]
Chen Jincheng smiled.
It was just 7:00 PM, which meant it would be done by midnight, hitting one million likes.
Yijin and his crew had also filmed the whole scene, especially the line Chen Jincheng had spoken—very clear evidence.
Yijin immediately opened the three accounts he had just renamed "Coastal City’s Most Devoted" and uploaded the evidence.
This was to lock in the evidence and find more witnesses.
Title: "Coastal City’s Most Devoted" says he can get a million likes by casually filming a power outlet.
As soon as the video was posted, he was flamed again:
"Seriously, bro? You’re using the word ’devoted’ to describe Cheng? Are you for real?"
"Holy shit, ’Most Devoted’ again? You’re just sticking with that name, huh?"
"..."
Luckily, Brother Cheng took a lot of the heat for this video:
"A million likes for filming a power outlet? You’ve got to be kidding."
"Cheng, even for you, I don’t believe you can get a million likes for filming a power outlet."
"Gao Yanyan’s new cover was a total banger, and it only got 700,000 likes."
"Waiting for him to get proven wrong!"
"Waiting for him to get proven wrong +1"
When Yijin saw these comments, he knew everyone felt the same way he did. No one believed a video of a power outlet could get a million likes.
Power outlets weren’t special at all. You could see them everywhere. They felt completely unworthy of being filmed or paid any attention to.
After using the Heat Card, Chen Jincheng turned to Sister Hong and gave her instructions. "Sister Hong, notify our company’s talents. Tell them to keep an eye on this video. The moment it goes viral, they should immediately jump on the trend and film their own versions. It doesn’t have to be a power outlet—they can film a TV, a remote, high heels, even their own underwear for all I care. They have to add the ’Just Filming’ tag, or they won’t be able to ride the wave of popularity."
"???" Sister Hong froze for a moment when she heard this.
’Wait, Boss, are you serious?’
’If I tell the company’s talents this and your video flops, it’ll be so embarrassing.’
But the boss had given an order, so she did as she was told. She opened the company’s talent group chat, tagged @everyone, and sent out the notification.
The girls at Second-Life Star got the news very quickly as well.
In a luxurious suite, Lin Qing and three other girls from a group called COLLBAT were already dolled up, preparing to head to the company to start their streams later.
The company didn’t actually require them to stream on-site. As long as they had the equipment and a dedicated room at home and weren’t disturbing their neighbors, they could stream from there. However, setting that up wasn’t a quick job. Plus, since they were in a rented apartment, it wasn’t worth the expense. It was better to just use the ready-made streaming rooms at the company.
"Sister Hong sent a message," Lin Qing called out to the other three girls.
She opened their WeChat group, read the message, and immediately clicked on her boss’s account to see what was up.
"Believe it or not, I can get a million likes just by filming a random power outlet!"
"???" Lin Qing was a bit baffled after watching her boss’s video.
The other three girls were just as stunned, and said in amazement:
"Is the boss trolling?"
"Haha, how could a video of a power outlet get a million likes? There’s nothing special about it."
"You think Sister Hong is just trying to save the boss from embarrassment by having us like his video?"
"..."
The four of them, including Lin Qing, decisively liked their boss’s video.
Almost all the other girls at Second-Life Star were doing the same thing.
Back in the private room at Jinyi Hotel, Chen Jincheng was already seeing a steady stream of notifications on his Tiao Yin dashboard. A few hundred likes popped up in just a moment, and another hundred appeared with every refresh.
He knew the Heat Card was working.
Sister Hong, Yijin, and his crew had long lost their appetite. They were all focused on the power outlet video.
Even though they thought it was a long shot, they had to see for themselves that it would truly fail.
But then something incredible happened. The video’s likes began to climb at an unbelievable speed.
"Something’s not right!"
"Holy shit, what’s going on?"
Expressions of shock slowly appeared on everyone’s faces.
An hour later, they discovered the power outlet video already had 210,000 likes.
Oh my god!
At this rate, hitting a million likes seemed like a sure thing.
Everyone in the room stared at Chen Jincheng as if he were some kind of monster.
This...
"Brother Cheng, you’re incredible," Yijin said, dazed.
The others all nodded in agreement. What they thought was impossible was actually happening.
Lin Qing and the other girls from Second-Life Star had also been watching the video, and they all found it unbelievable.
"The boss can get this famous just by filming a power outlet?" Lin Qing exclaimed.
It reminded her of what things were like before the boss signed her. Back then, she was on Tiao Yin, and even when she went all out with her thirst traps and pushed the platform’s boundaries, she never got many likes.
Her best video only got a little over 8,000 likes.
Now, the boss casually films a power outlet and gets 210,000 likes in an hour. The difference was terrifying.
Girls who came from the nightlife scene were just naturally more direct and open.
In fact, it wasn’t just them; the other girls at Second-Life Star had already sprung into action.
Even back in the Jinyi Hotel private room, Yijin, Old Dog, and the others had already started looking for things to film.
Yijin started filming the bowl in front of him.
Sister Hong even grabbed a pair of chopsticks and started filming, mostly just for the fun of it.
Yinyin grew a little anxious because everyone else had already claimed all the filmable objects in the room.
Then, an idea struck her. She grabbed her phone, aimed it at Chen Jincheng, and said, "Believe it or not, I can get a million likes just by filming my boss!" 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
She finished filming and promptly uploaded it.
Another hour quickly passed.
Chen Jincheng’s power outlet video reached 400,000 likes.
Yijin’s exclamation followed right after. "Holy shit, Brother Cheng, you’re a legend! Not only has your video blown up, but all of us who jumped on the trend are getting a ton of likes too. At this rate, your random video of a power outlet is probably going to start a trending topic."
Old Dog, who was beside him, added dazedly, "I wonder what expressions people will have tomorrow morning when they wake up, start scrolling Tiao Yin, and discover a power outlet is a trending topic."
Even Sister Hong nodded. The fact that this power outlet video was unbelievably popular was undeniable.
As someone involved, she just felt the whole thing was surreal.
The boss had just given Yijin and his crew a few pointers about making videos, then filmed a power outlet as a demonstration, and the crucial part was that the video had just so effortlessly gone viral.
After chatting for a while longer, Chen Jincheng told Sister Hong to settle the bill. He planned to take Yijin and his group to Extreme Bar for a bit of fun.
He mainly wanted to use the hundreds of clip accounts they controlled to generate some preliminary hype for Cenchun.
This "goddess of atmosphere" from another world was destined to be Extreme Bar’s main attraction.
Although he had the "Internet Celebrity Debut Card," which guaranteed that the first two videos he filmed for Cenchun would get the same number of likes as similar videos from her past life, Jiang Xiaobai’s video had already proven that it was possible to surpass that. The past-life video’s popularity was just a guaranteed minimum.
The main thing was, Cenchun’s viral videos weren’t as explosive as Jiang Xiaobai’s two videos, which had pushed right up against the line of what was permissible.
So, generating some hype beforehand was still necessary.
"Boss, I’ll skip the bar. At my age, I can’t handle all-nighters anymore," Sister Hong said after paying the bill.
She had, however, already arranged for a car and booked a private room at Extreme Bar for them.
"Boss, remember to come pick me up after my stream’s over," Yinyin said, looking a little reluctant to see him go. But it was only her second day of streaming, so she couldn’t miss a broadcast. She had to stick to a fixed schedule so her audience would get into the habit of tuning in at a specific time.
"Yeah, I’ll come get you," Chen Jincheng nodded.
...
By the time Chen Jincheng and his group arrived at Extreme Bar, the night was in full swing, and the place was already packed with customers.
As they crossed the main floor, Chen Jincheng spotted Cenchun at the DJ booth. She was wearing a simple but very alluring black, form-fitting dress. What stood out was her unique aura; despite being in a nightclub, she gave off the impression of a gentle, traditional woman (see video at end of Chapter).
She had a completely different style from Jiang Xiaobai—a unique, unforgettable type.
