Starting from a Bar to Sign Internet Celebrities-Chapter 148 - 139: The Green Tea’s Thoughtfulness and the Goofy Scapegoat Brother
And just like that, it all came full circle.
The goofy younger brother innocently takes the fall for his older brother.
With this dynamic, it might even surpass the original video. Then Elephant would really blow up.
As long as Elephant does a good job, I can have him recreate those goofy viral videos. We can add a storyline and film a whole ’Scapegoat Brother’ series.
Once the persona of ’Chen Jincheng’s Scapegoat Brother’ is firmly established, as long as his popularity doesn’t fade and Elephant doesn’t cause any trouble, he’ll be set for success.
After hearing his instructions, Sister Hong had already left the private room to take care of things.
Second-Life Star was a bit female-dominated at the moment. All of their signed artists were women; the only male artist was the boss himself. It was a good thing the boss was trying to make a video for his "brother." If it succeeded, they’d finally have another male artist on the roster.
"I’ll have someone send a camera over," Lao Chen added immediately.
Suddenly, no one at the table had any appetite. All their attention was on the video Chen Jincheng had described. That’s just how it was for people in the social media game; when an idea struck, you could start filming anytime, anywhere.
Chen Jincheng took out his phone and started writing the script.
Sister Hong first found a hotel supervisor, who then led her to a female manager with decision-making authority. The manager came out to greet her personally. "Ms. Chu Hong, our hotel agrees to your request. I’ve already sent someone to the warehouse for a spare exhaust pipe, and I’ve had the maintenance department get the sprinkler heads ready."
"Next time your company or Mr. Chen visits, please let us know in advance. We’d be happy to arrange a VIP suite for you."
It was no wonder she was so enthusiastic. After all, they were both based in Coastal City, so she was well aware of how popular this "Ancestral Master" had become recently. The hotel lobby was even playing his song, "Can’t Help Falling in Love," just today. More importantly, every video he made went viral.
In exchange for just borrowing a few items, he was promising to feature Jinyi Hotel in the video. Only a fool would refuse.
So, before long, the exhaust pipe arrived. The hotel’s maintenance team also rounded up a dozen sprinkler heads to guarantee the spray would look like a downpour.
When an employee from the Second Generation Star Photography Department delivered the camera, Lao Chen turned to Chen Jincheng. "Boss, what’s the plan?"
Chen Jincheng smiled and asked Yijin, "Hey man, want to make a cameo in the video?"
The shoot required four roles: Chen Jincheng’s goofy brother, a male passerby, Chen Jincheng himself, and the passerby’s dream girl.
So, Yijin could play the passerby, and the "goddess" would naturally be Ximeng.
Yijin was naturally eager to give it a try when he heard this. He’d always run a video clipping and editing workshop, so he’d never had the chance to participate in a shoot himself. Now that he had the opportunity, he was dying to experience it.
"Alright, then." Chen Jincheng smiled. He created a group chat with everyone and sent in the proposal and script he’d just written so they could all see it.
Elephant, Yijin, Sister Hong, Lao Chen, and Ximeng were all stunned when they read the proposal and script.
"This is insane! So freaking goofy!" Elephant exclaimed, stunned. His hands were already flying, however, as he changed his Tiao Yin nickname to ’Chen Jincheng’s Bro.’
Sister Hong and the others naturally agreed with Elephant.
The video idea was just too goofy.
But they had to admit it was hilarious and packed with funny moments. The image of someone caught in the rain without an umbrella, sprinting while "hiding" inside an exhaust pipe, was eye-catching enough on its own.
What kind of mind comes up with an idea like that?
Sister Hong’s admiration for her boss was growing by the second. Seriously. She was discovering that there seemed to be no type of video he couldn’t master, whether it was risqué, dance-focused, a commercial, or even this kind of goofy skit.
"Alright, let’s get ready to start!" Chen Jincheng ordered.
Lao Chen immediately started coordinating the shoot. He had Elephant get into the exhaust pipe to prepare, then signaled the hotel staff to turn on the sprinklers and aim them at the sky. In an instant, the area was drenched as if in a downpour.
Thankfully, it was nighttime. Aside from the hotel guests, there weren’t many people outside; otherwise, they would have definitely drawn a crowd.
Seeing this, Lao Chen shouted to Elephant, "Action! Run into the fake rain! Make your run as goofy as possible! The dumber, the better!"
Elephant didn’t hesitate. He immediately ran into the downpour, still wearing the exhaust pipe. He really did have a knack for being goofy; his run was bizarrely comical, like an upright maggot. They nailed that part of the shot easily.
For the second part, Yijin was supposed to walk by holding one umbrella, with a spare in his other hand. Elephant spots him and tries to borrow the spare...
This was where they ran into problems. They had to do several takes, but none of them worked. It was mainly because it was Yijin and Elephant’s first time acting; they were too stiff, and their performance was poor—not nearly good enough.
Fortunately, short videos don’t require world-class acting. After a dozen or so takes, they finally got the second part in the can.
Next was the third part, which wasn’t difficult. Yijin just had to run off, dragging the exhaust pipe with him and leaving a dumbfounded, soaked-to-the-bone Elephant in his wake.
The final part was even simpler: Chen Jincheng walking sweetly out of the Jinyi Hotel with his arm around Ximeng, intercut with a shot of Yijin kneeling on the ground with a bouquet, crying as he watched his ’goddess’ and the ’scumbag’ walk off into the distance.
Once the shoot wrapped, Chen Jincheng had someone send the footage to Xiaoliao to have his team edit it together.
"Leave the account info with me and go get changed," Chen Jincheng told Elephant.
"You got it, Bro!" Elephant replied immediately, his voice full of anticipation.
With the filming complete, Sister Hong went to thank the hotel’s female manager again.
Over on Xiaoliao’s end, the team had already started editing.
Editing a video like this was simple, so it wouldn’t take long to finish.
