Star Odyssey-Chapter 3399: Hold These
Chapter 3399: Hold These
Lu Yin stared at Whiteless God, his expression torn. He had killed this woman once before, but he did not want to go through that a second time.
Whiteless God was one of humanity’s worst enemies. She controlled Aeterna, and she had forced countless people to become spies for Aeternus. It could even be said that she was partially responsible for every human traitor the Aeternals had ever recruited. She was not an enemy who could be left alive.
However, in the alternate timeline, Lu Yin’s killing intent for the woman had already dissipated. After all, he had already killed her once.
The end result had been Whiteless God voluntarily merging her consciousness with Lu Yin's star of consciousness. Her final actions had left Lu Yin filled with complex emotions toward the woman.
He was not even sure what choice he should make this second time around.
Whiteless God turned around and walked away.
Even without sailing along the River of Aeons, Lu Yin could still catch up to the woman.
They left the Five Spirits Alliance’s universes, traveling through one parallel universe after another until they finally arrived on a desolate planet.
As Lu Yin looked around, his gaze trembled. Whiteless God had gone to the same place where she had died in the River of Aeons’s branch. While time had reverted and some details had already changed, were the ultimate results going to still be the same?
Lu Yin wanted to complete this cycle of karma, and it appeared that the laws of the universe also sought to balance out karma.
Lu Yin stared blankly.
In front of him, Whiteless God was staring at Lu Yin. "Are you not going to ask me?"
Lu Yin shifted his attention to Whiteless God. He remembered some words that needed to be said. He wanted to give Whiteless God a chance to speak and to complete the karma that came from him learning the truth about Yan’er.
“Brother Lu, you’ve already killed me once. Do you want to kill me again?
“More than one person gets a second chance. Hasn’t Progenitor Xi been granted that?
“Brother Lu, did you ever care for me?
“I really envy Ming Yan.
“Honestly, the primary reason why Aeternus was defeated is because of Ming Yan. Without her, the Aeternals would never have lost.
“That’s right, Nightking Changfeng. He was a very handsome young man, wasn't he?
“Whether you believe me or not, human emotions are the most difficult thing to comprehend. Even I was ensnared by that power, despite being a different species.
“I can see Ming Yan in your eyes again. I know that I can never replace her, but I do want you to remember me, always and forever.” As she spoke, Whiteless God struck Lu Yin with a palm. She was far from being Lu Yin's match. However, she was not seeking victory, but rather death.
She had revealed secrets regarding the Consciousness Megaverse, but this time, her battle with Lu Yin was different from the one that had been fought in the branch of the River of Aeons.
Previously, Lu Yin had wanted to kill Whiteless God. Despite his complicated feelings, he had shown no mercy when he struck.
This time, he was passive.
Regardless of whether he was aggressive or passive, Whiteless God was still destined to die. This was karma, and even if Lu Yin did not want to complete it, she would force him to do so. What Whiteless God was completing was not even karma, as she did not understand it. What she was seeking to complete were her own emotions, the source of her own suffering. She wanted to ensure that Lu Yin would remember her for the rest of his life.
“Brother Lu, will you kill me?
“Will it hurt?
“Hurt and regret can never replace the deepest scars that are left behind. Brother Lu, I don't want you to suffer, but I do want you to remember me, always and forever.” With those words, she moved towards Lu Yin. As Whiteless God drew closer, her vast consciousness dispersed like a gust of wind, and it flowed directly into the star of consciousness in Lu Yin's inner universe.
Despite anticipating her actions, Lu Yin was still shaken when Whiteless God truly merged her consciousness with his own.
Exactly the same as before, he stood there, frozen and dazed. He stared blankly at the star of consciousness, and it was a very long time before he left.
Whiteless God had succeeded in leaving a deep impression on Lu Yin, and she had indeed ensured that he would never be able to forget her.
The Long Xi he had encountered in the Mirari Realm’s forbidden region and this Whiteless God were both completely unforgettable to Lu Yin.
He had not wanted to face Whiteless God, and he did not dare to confront Long Xi either. It did not matter if it was the real Long Xi or the one he had seen during the endless cycles of karma.
Long Xi had become a source of great emotional pain for Lu Yin, along with their child, Little Xiaoxuan. His small, innocent smile still caused Lu Yin heart-wrenching pain that left him unable to breathe.
That one cycle of karma was no different from losing his life to Lu Yin.
Foresight and premonition could grant incredible advantages, but they also meant that a person had to endure the breaking of emotional bonds again and again.
From the perspective of other cultivators, Lu Yin was still very young. He was just over 100 years old. Even if the time that he had spent in his die’s Timestop Space, the time that he had spent in various universes with accelerated timeflows, and the 37 years that had been reverted were all taken into account, Lu Yin was barely over 1,000 years old, at most.
Even so, his heart had endured far too much.
Just like when he had experienced the endless cycles of karma in the Karma Sanctum, Lu Yin felt exhausted. He was tired to the point where he felt numb.
He next went to visit the Immemorial Citadel, where he shared everything that had happened with Mister Mu and the Origin Progenitor.
Seeing the two older men again allowed Lu Yin to finally feel much better. It had not been that long since he had lived through the massacre in the Origin Universe that had occurred at the end of the alternate timeline. At that time, Lu Yin had also seen the Immemorial Citadel being utterly destroyed. At that time, he had known that Mister Mu had to have been in grave danger. Seeing his seniors, comrades, and loved ones all die were the true reason why Lu Yin had chosen to restart.
This time, he not only told Mister Mu and the others about Master Qing Cao, but he also told them about the River of Aeons’s branch, and all that had happened during those thirty-seven years.
Mister Mu and the others were completely stunned by the story.
While both he and the Origin Progenitor were incredibly powerful, they were not Immortals, and they were therefore incapable of avoiding the River of Aeons.
Only Immortals, or someone like the ferrymen who sailed along the River of Aeons, could avoid its influence. No one else could do the same, not even the Origin Progenitor.
Lu Yin could not understand how True God had managed to do so.
Additionally, there was also Forgotten Ruins God and Wang Xiaoyu. Both women should have been in the Dominion Realm, yet they had also avoided the temporal reversion.
“Pillar, are you sure that you’re not daydreaming?” the Origin Progenitor asked, still looking rather dazed.
Lu Yin replied, “If I were, how could I have located Ancient God so quickly?”
The Origin Progenitor fell silent, as there was no denying that simple argument.
Ancient God had already been taken to the Heavens Sect. While his injuries were severe, he had not died. Still, his condition was practically the same as death, and recovery seemed to be practically impossible.
Still, it was better than being dead outright.
The Origin Progenitor felt happy that Ancient God had managed to survive. He had thought that Ancient God was doomed.
Mister Mu praised Lu Yin, “You truly were able to obtain a second chance. Lassy gave you the opportunity to restart things. The River of Aeons is indeed miraculous.”
Lu Yin asked the Origin Progenitor, “Where is Senior Destiny?”
The Origin Progenitor shook his head. “Lassy is the most mysterious of all my disciples. Not even I can find her. After all, she cultivates the power of aeons, which is different from how the rest of us use the power of time. It’s similar to how you comprehended karma. Speaking of which, Pillar, you actually managed to comprehend karma in that forbidden region? Impressive. The High Seraph came here to target you just because of that. It seems that it is truly a path to Immortality.”
Lu Yin nodded. “Judging by the attitudes of the High Seraph and Master Qing Cao, that seems quite possible. However, this path is too difficult, and it is beyond exhausting.”
The Origin Progenitor grew sympathetic. “It is indeed exhausting. I’ve been to that place before, and I don’t want to go through that experience again.”
Mister Mu spoke up, his tone somber, “Karma is a force that touches upon the laws of the universe, just like the power of time. Both can be a path to Immortality, but treading these paths might be even more difficult than resetting a megaverse.”
“No kidding! Why else do you think that Yong Heng guy wants to reset the megaverse? On top of him, there’s also the High Seraph. He abandoned the Lesser Spirit Megaverse and traveled all the way here to the Tianyuan Megaverse just to kill Pillar. Pillar must have stepped on their tail. Oh, and that Master Qing Cao also tried to seal Pillar for a hundred years.
“That was a very close call. If not for Ku Jie, Pillar would have been sealed for a hundred years, the Tianyuan Megaverse would’ve been completely eradicated. Then, there would have been no way to revert time.”
Mister Mu shook his head. “You underestimate your disciple. Lassy isn’t stupid. If things had taken such a horrendous turn, she would have awakened Zhao Ran herself.”
Lu Yin nodded. “That’s possible.”
“But Pillar, your unresolved karma is quite the problem.” Lu Yin had not told the Origin Progenitor or Mister Mu about the issue of karmic backlash from avoiding the temporal reversion, but both men had immediately seen through to the crux of the problem. After all, both of them had experienced far more than Lu Yin.
He felt a headache coming on. "Let’s talk about this later."
“Pillar, no matter what, you’ve saved Musclehead’s life. I am the Origin Progenitor, and I owe for this. What do you want, Pillar?”
Lu Yin was speechless. "I want you to stop calling me Pillar."
“Alright, Pillar. It seems you really don’t like that name. How about I give you a new one? What do you think of Scruffy?”
“I think Pillar suits me just fine. There’s no need to change things.”
“You lack good taste.”
Lu Yin pursed his lips, and then he suddenly stared at the Origin Progenitor as something popped into his head. Could it be?
As a piece of Wei Nu, Zhao Ran’s Dukkha had been tea brewing. Initially, her tea had been horrifying and strange, looking more like poison than anything else. And yet, that was her Dukkha.
Everyone’s Dukkha was unique. For example, while no one was aware of what Bao Qi’s Dukkha was, it had drastically changed his personality.
New n𝙤vel chapters are published on novelbuddy.cσ๓.
Astral Anura’s Dukkha had something to do with his business and the profits he collected.
The Origin Progenitor’s constant habit of giving people names... could that be his Dukkha?
Lu Yin stared at the Origin Progenitor. The more he thought about the matter, the more plausible it seemed. No way. That would be too ridiculous.
The Origin Progenitor felt increasingly uneasy under Lu Yin’s gaze. “Fine, we won’t change your name, Pillar. Just stop staring at me like that.”
Lu Yin then returned the Primaldust to the Origin Progenitor, who reattached his arms and restored most of his strength.
Again, the scene that played out before shocked the Tianyuan Megaverse.
However, Lu Yin had seen it all before and was able to remain calm.
The Origin Progenitor stretched his arms and clenched a fist. “It’s back! It feels strange after having not used these hands for so long.”
He then grabbed hold of the sequence strings and let out a long howl, his voice echoing across countless parallel universes.
Chu Yi and Hongyan Mavis were both thrilled, as they understood that their master was finally free.
“Old Mu, now it’s your turn. You hold things down.” The Origin Progenitor laughed as he looked over at Mister Mu.
Mister Mu showed a rare smile. “That has nothing to do with me.”
The Origin Progenitor rolled his eyes. “So cold, huh.”
Outside the Immemorial Citadel, the Divine Eagle and the Python Ancestor rushed forward. One landed on the Origin Progenitor’s shoulder, while the other coiled around his waist. He stretched out a hand, and the Origin Progenitor’s sword that had been in the Heavens Sect shot into his grasp. As he pointed it at the stars, he declared, “The Immortal realm... Since they are restricted, we have nothing to fear. In the worst case scenario, we’ll compensate for the difference with our lives. Musclehead didn’t die, but he’s not afraid to. Tell me, disciples, are you afraid?”
Hongyan Mavis, Wu Tian, and Garan Zhiluo were invigorated. “We're not afraid.”
The Origin Progenitor turned to Lu Yin. “Pillar, are you afraid?”
Lu Yin pursed his lips. “I don’t want to answer that question again.”
“Hahaha, that’s fine. Whether or not you’re afraid, we just have to charge forward anyways. However, there’s a big problem right now-” He tugged at the sequence strings he held in a hand. “Who can help me hold these?”
