Star Gate-Chapter 1479: Complete Eradication (I)

Void also couldn’t help but think of New Martial. The Human King, Supreme Zhang, Sun God, and others were unequivocally great humans of the human race. But despite that, many sides had their sights set on Yin and Yang.

General consensus favored Red Moon major world instead of New Martial. After all, that was a major world with an eighth rank at the helm!

But... could they really win?

New Martial was a group of absolutely insane cultivators. While they hadn’t done anything big in the last ten thousand years, they weren’t pushovers by far!

Many in Skyward were already preparing to carve up New Martial and assign the spoils. Weren’t they getting ahead of themselves? And why was no one willing to converse with New Martial? Did they lack an opportunity to do so, or did they think there was no need?

Void suddenly laughed at himself. What business of it was his? I cultivate my own dao! As for if his major world chose to ally with Red Moon...

He shook his head after a long moment. I have no ability to change anything. I told them once that New Martial stands a chance of being the ultimate victor. What can I do if they don’t believe me?

“Emptiness, resurrection!” he murmured and looked at the sky. Who could revive the dao universe of this world?

Is that resurrection my opportunity? Will I be able to comprehend the key factors within? Fifth or sixth rank is not what I seek. I wish to attain seventh rank!

Can I reach seventh rank through the dao of emptiness?

I have withdrawn from the major world and the dao universe. Can the dao of emptiness bring back vitality?

Li Hao cultivates life and death, can I glean something from that and combine it to perfect my dao?

He didn’t care about Skyriver. Since Li Hao was on his way, an exalted emperor might die there, maybe two, maybe even more.

It was none of his business.

At the same time, Skyriver.

Some exalted emperors were conversing inside a palace hall.

A person seated above laughed loudly. While a chilling look could be found in his eyes, he wore a smile for the moment. “Fellow Daoist Scintillating, you may stay in Skyriver Region for as long as you wish! As bold as New Martial’s Sword Sovereign may be, he would not dare brashly enter Skyward!

“We won’t need to do anything if he does, the sixth rank powerhouses will take care of him! Not to mention, everyone’s out for Yin and Yang’s head. He wouldn’t dare come here!”

On the floor below, the Exalted Scintillating Emperor appeared slightly aged. He inclined his head with indifference and intoned, “I have messaged Yun Cang, but he continues to be absent. I hear that an exalted emperor has died near the southern gate lately...”

“It should be an outsider,” smiled the Exalted Skyriver Emperor. “Fellow Daoist Yun Cang has been within the Dragon Observatory Region this entire time!”

“That’s hard to say...” Scintillating fretted. “Fellow Daoist Skyriver, could you investigate the list of exalted emperors that have passed through the southern gate lately...?”

“Ah...” An awkward expression crossed Skyriver’s face, that was an exclusive privilege of Dragon Observatory. It might rouse their displeasure if he stepped on their toes.

Although, simply looking at the record wasn’t an egregious action. He just needed to stay away from taking any drastic action. Skyriver thought it over and decided to try and recruit this third rank in the end.

“Very well, I will have the Dragon Observatory give me a list of names as soon as possible! Wait with peace of mind, fellow daoist. Fellow Daoist Yun Cang may be caught up by something else or be contemplating dao at a foundation site!” he laughed heartily. “Nothing can stop a person when opportunity is at hand!”

“I hope so!” Scintillating nodded and said nothing else. It was unsettling that an exalted emperor had vanished and remained out of communication. Added to that recent news of an exalted emperor dying...

He’d twitched at the shadow of every bush ever since the destruction of Suncloud. Frequently uneasy, the glory of that singular sword stroke often came to mind.

One stroke had caused the death of the master of his world and the world’s implosion! How terrifying was that?? The Sword Sovereign hugely featured in his nightmares!

Scintillating had wanted to join a major faction after the destruction of his home. But if he went to a major world, he would land at the bottom of the totem pole with no status to his name. Joining a faction such as the Dragon Observatory was a viable option, yet Utmost Dark and Elysian Fields were annihilated just as he was negotiating with them!

It was a situation that induced immense wordlessness!

The two fifth ranks from those worlds had become the hottest goods on the shelf. A third rank such as Scintillating abruptly lost all of his glow. Although Skyward factions still recruited him, they focused on making offers to the fifth ranks instead.

They immediately placed less importance on him and gave him terms that he could not accept. Meanwhile, although Skyriver was just a fourth rank exalted emperor, the treatment he offered was really quite nice.

There was only one mid rank exalted emperor in Skyriver Region and no third ranks in residence. There was just one second rank and two first ranks. Third ranks would almost certainly refrain from joining a mere fourth rank.

If Scintillating agreed, he would be second-in-command in Skyriver. And with Yun Cang by his side, two exalted emperors would be a force to contend with in the region.

With their addition, while Skyriver Region would not measure up to Dragon Observatory Region, they would still be stronger than some of the other regions. And with the region master promising that Scintillating could visit the dao foundation sites as he would... it was further opportunity for him to break through.

Fourth rank was difficult, but that didn’t mean there was no chance whatsoever.

After a while of conversation between the two exalted emperors, the Exalted Skyriver Emperor suddenly frowned in a certain direction. Had an exalted emperor crossed the border? A wandering exalted emperor?

Skyriver Region did not rival Dragon Observatory Region—it could not exercise authority over all exalted emperors. The region master ignored the intrusion after briefly assessing it. He couldn’t be bothered to stick his nose into everyone’s business, so long as they refrained from interfering with his affairs. He didn’t have the ability to do so, either.

He would only be able to get involved if trespassers entered Skyriver Region. Otherwise, they stayed out of each other’s ways.

There were no treasure or secret zones to be found within the region. The only one was the dao foundation site where he was at. Hence, the Exalted Skyriver Emperor categorized the disturbance as as randomly passing-by exalted emperor. He might be interested in greeting the other in regular times, but with Scintillating here today, he stayed put.

Even if another third rank came along, he couldn’t afford to make a bid for a second third rank exalted emperor.

At the same time.

Li Hao travelled through Dragon Observatory Region, seeming to pass through a barrier as he set foot out of it. It wasn’t too strong and didn’t offer much impediment to an exalted emperor. He entered the region neighboring Dragon Observatory.

“Is this Skyriver?” the young man murmured to himself, looking in a particular direction with a slight frown. He seemed to have been deposited near the region master’s residence. That wasn’t a good development.

It meant that Scintillating and Skyriver were in contact with each other, and Scintillating was still here. That meant he might be of a mind to join Skyriver, which meant that Li Hao would be facing more than just a simple third rank exalted emperor!

“This is what I least wanted to see!” Li Hao exhaled. This is one of my worst case scenarios! But out of interest for cultivation and to resolve future trouble... perhaps I should kill them all!

Hopefully I can succeed! And hopefully the ensuing chaos tribulation won’t be that noticeable. I’m praying that covering both ends will prove somewhat effective, or Number Two might be a sizzling mess after all of those thunderbolts!

And if that happens, I won’t be able to face the Exalted Blood Emperor! That big cat will probably also turn me into fish jerky!

By now, Li Hao knew what the dried fish were. It was nothing good to end up like that.

Skyriver Region, Skyriver City.

There were many cities in Skyward, but only ones with exalted emperors in residence were the heart of their regions. Most cultivators and mundanes lived in such locales. Other parts of the region were quite dangerous.

Almost all of Skyward was populated by cultivators. There was so much energy here that even mundanes would become cultivators if they stayed here for a while. The precursor was, the mundanes needed to possess the ability to cross the void. Or at least, they needed a powerhouse to help them travel across worlds.

Innumerable cultivators were gathered in an enormous city. There were people working in the fields and workshops. Cultivators here were no different from regular mundanes. In a world with exalted emperors, ordinary cultivators did not have the ability to summon the wind and rain.

Li Hao walked through the city; the guards at the gates did not see through his identity. The Exalted Skyriver Emperor was aware of Li Hao’s existence, but he was busy with the third rank emperor. He didn’t put in an appearance as Li Hao was just a first rank exalted emperor.

The Exalted Skyriver Emperor had sensed Li Hao also because the young man hadn’t gone to the lengths of concealing his presence. There was no need to do so as an exalted emperor. Li Hao even wanted to make his greetings to the region master. If the man was willing to meet him, they could sit down for a chat.

However, the Exalted Skyriver Emperor didn’t seem interested in seeing him.

The third rank exalted emperor’s presence was intermixed with the Exalted Skyriver Emperor’s, as were the presences of some of Skyriver’s other exalted emperors. There was one fourth rank, one third rank, one second rank, and two first ranks.

All five exalted emperors in the region were convened together in a meeting. Li Hao came to some conclusions after probing the situation. Scintillating of Suncloud had remained here all this time... possibly intending on staying for good.

The young man was in no hurry, but once more carefully probed the surroundings. Faint dao remnants floated up from where the exalted emperors were gathered. They were very faint, but very real. This was likely what Big Claw said, where the sixth rank dao foundation site was located.

It was said to have belonged to a water attribute exalted emperor. The Exalted Skyriver Emperor also focused on the water attribute, hence he’d taken over the area and refused to leave. The dao echoes within this site were very helpful for him.

Li Hao continued forward, heading toward the region’s seat of administration.

The Exalted Skyriver Emperor was idly chitchatting with Scintillating and having a wonderful time. The former wanted to recruit his conversation partner, his target was perfectly willing to join. If it wasn’t needing to observe the formalities, the two would’ve settled the deal already.

Although Scintillating was yet to officially make a petition, Skyriver was already looking around happily. It was done!

As for the first rank exalted emperor, that kind of being wasn’t worthy of attention. It was even annoying that one had showed up instead. A demonstration of his attitude was needed at the moment and proceedings were going well with Scintillating. That first rank could play in the sand by themselves. What were they doing in Skyriver for?

If Scintillating felt that Skyriver was mistreating him in order to greet the first rank, that would be the greatest loss of all!
