Chapter 1121: Battle To The Death (I)

To plant spirits, their heart of life was the source of strength for the primary body. Mental strength was secondary, then came core origin dao.

But in an age in which core origin dao was no more, the death of the physical body and extinguishing of mental strength meant eternal slumber. There would be no way to redeem the situation!

The peach tree’s incomparable primary body had shattered from just one of Li Hao’s blows! A shadowy figure appeared in the void—wizened, furious, enraged!

This was the tree’s mental strength!

Never had it fathomed that it would be ambushed in a main city. That was nearly impossible! Not to mention, the second awakening was yet to begin. This was an era that did not tolerate Saints in the world.

But today, its physical body was destroyed by a single sword stroke.

The shadowy figure took human form—the aged peach tree was in a crazed state. Its immense mental strength swept through the world. It was a Saint! Even though its physical body had shattered, it was still a Saint!

It put on a facade of being weak, but its mental strength was absolutely domineering. However, a lot of it had been ripped apart by Li Hao’s opening move.

Despite his pale face, Li Hao didn’t hesitate. Numerous dao meridians within his body broke—not in terms of being opened, but outright broke and connected to the world. His body swelled as a formidable strength surged in. Stellaris in hand, the young man spontaneously reached peak strength, even surpassing what he’d brought to bear moments ago.

“Sever!”

His sword flashed out!

The peach tree jerked with astonishment, having thought that the young man’s earlier blow had been the limits of his abilities. So Li Hao had enough strength left in him for a second blow! It whirled around to run, jerking awake from its fury. Fear settled in its place!

Too many years of easy living had instilled a fear of death in it. But no matter how fast it was, could it be faster than Li Hao’s sword?

Wham!

A staggering collision rang out as the void shattered like glass. Everything in the world, including that shadow, was struck by the sword. The plant spirit was obliterated!

It was an astounding second move!

Only now did a warship hover into being behind Li Hao. A towering tree that’d been struck by a sword was the first sight to come into view for everyone on the deck. A Saint’s mental strength had been shattered by one blow!

Li Hao didn’t tower over the enemy. On the contrary, he seemed so weak and fragile that it seemed like he could be killed by a single poke.

Weak, insignificant.

And yet, he remained staunchly on his feet with a sword in hand. He killed a Saint with just two strokes, not the three of his estimation. It’d been a fully recovered Saint at that! Dead, on the spot!

“Impossible...” Intangible mental strength was churned to pieces and its human projection shredded to bits. It remained incredulous even in its final moments.

Everything had happened so quickly.

It was a Saint! How could Saints die so easily?

“You are Li Hao...” A murmur reverberated through the world. “You court death! I will return once more...”

Reluctant as it was, it detonated with a final explosion. An avenue of great dao hovered in and out of sight. It disappeared when the mental strength ceased to exist. While the peach tree was dead, it wasn’t dead in the conventional sense of the word.

Its core origin dao still existed, so if there was anyone willing to give it a hand or if the core origin universe could extend to Silver Moon again, it stood a chance of resurrecting!

It was only now that the Gold Armor came to his senses. He turned and ran off without missing a beat. Someone was ready for this reaction.

Standing behind him, Gan Wuliang erupted with a variety of abilities and surrounded the soldier like he was a host of demons, ghosts, and wraiths. There were two others standing next to him—Yuan Shuo and Deputy Zhou.

Deputy Zhou was slightly weaker of the two. He called upon his golden body and smashed forward with a punch that had been building for quite some time. Yuan Shuo transformed into a massive bear and slammed his paw down, shattering the earth!

The three had been ready to spring into battle as soon as the warship emerged, whereas the Gold Armor was only now reacting to the circumstances. Another massive boom rang out, followed by the Gold Armor’s agonized wail.

“It hurts! No, no I won’t die...” His pain seemed to be magnified one hundredfold. His face was twisted with indescribable pain inside his visor. The misery was enhanced via Gan Wuliang’s abilities. Fear and cowardice threatened to overwhelm him!

New Martial powerhouses wouldn’t easily give voice to their pain, even if ambushed or suffering a direct hit. But now, the Gold Armor wanted nothing more than to roll on the ground in agony. It hurt so much!

A punch split open his golden armor—Yuan Shuo slammed his fist into the soldier’s chest. It pierced through the Gold Armor’s chest, resulting in a spray of blood.

Blood!

Indeed, this wasn’t an empty suit of armor. There was blood spurting out of it!

Yuan Shuo and the others looked gravely at the sight. As they thought!

Whether it was the peach tree or the Gold Armor, they were all acting. There was a physical body inside this suit of armor! It only looked weak—that was far from its actual state.

Though the Gold Armor howled with pain, he prepared to fight back. A sound broke through the air behind his back.

CRUNCH!

The sword behind the sound arrived first. It wasn’t Li Hao, but Sky Sword. He was faster than the rest and landed with a rumble. His sword ran through the Gold Armor, followed shortly by numerous other powerful attacks.

The armor was obliterated and a human figure rose out of it. It was intactly pummeled to pieces.

When his mental strength peeked out of the body, loud rumbles ensued as it was torn apart.

A mid Immortal powerhouse was spontaneously ripped apart and crushed by a barrage of attacks. He closed his eyes for the last time with some reluctance, fear, and other magnified emotions.

Rumble! The earth trembled!

Li Hao’s force had acted quickly, but they were in a main city, after all. A ray of light rose from the city the moment they killed two powerhouses. Numerous figures hovered in the sky. There weren’t many heavyweights among them; the emanating presences indicated that their strongest was Immortal.

“Father was wrong... we should not have shown them mercy...” A sigh echoed through the vicinity. Boundless suddenly grew infinitely, stretching throughout the world! The sectors that were darkened immediately loomed out of the gloom.

All main cities were massive to begin with; they were compressed when energy ceased to be sufficient. Further sectors were cast into darkness as the city fell silent. But now, darkness receded from the city to reveal it in its entirety.

It was too massive to be imagined!

A Gold Armor without its helm walked out of the shadows. “Enemies have invaded Boundless! What a shame!” it said with some pity and regret.

What a shame about that Saint-level guardian plant spirit. As for the Immortal level Gold Armor, that had just been a director general. It could die, but the Saint level peach tree was a painful loss.

Rumble!

A large army awakened within the city. Several tens of thousands of soldiers marched out, as did Silver Armors and Gold Armors hover over them. And that wasn’t all!

An azure armored warrior flew with the army.

Li Hao knew that one could customize armor at the reserve commander and army commander level. They were not defined by color. Whether it was azure blue or any other color, it most likely represented that the bearer exceeded division leader if it wasn’t golden.

The other Gold Armor, the one who’d spoken, possessed a fearsome presence despite the color of its armor. It was possibly a Saint and even a son of the Zheng patriarch. It could be either second son Zheng Gong or third son Zheng Yu.

The Azure Armor was either the commander of the reserve defenders, or the vice commander of the city’s army. Its presence billowed so commandingly that it must be a Saint!

This was their worst case scenario... No, slightly better than worst because the Zheng patriarch did not seem to be within the city.

When counting in the big tree, that made for three Saints in residence at Boundless. While this wasn’t the worst outcome they could be faced with—that would be outright barging into the main army—there was still one Saint more than they factored for.

Li Hao smiled to himself. Thank goodness there wasn’t a fourth. The situation was sobering, but there was nothing to regret.

Director General Wang’s face changed drastically and he ground his teeth together. “Zheng Gong!” He then looked at the Azure Armor with an even more enraged expression. “General Han Jiang of the Boundless Army! You really have betrayed New Martial!”

The city’s organization was still intact. All of its denizens were awake, none of the senior leadership’s physical bodies had been lost! They were Saints still! What more needed to be said in this moment?

Nothing at all!

The Water of Life flowing out of the downed peach tree washed over the invaders like a wave. This much Water of Life was certainly not the production from a day or two. The plant spirit had likely awakened a very long time ago.

The ancient city’s true appearance was laid out beneath the light after the darkness retreated. Clad in golden armor, Zheng Gong, second son of the Zheng patriarch, ignored Director General Wang. He looked around with a solemn expression. “Dean Zhang, why do you continue to hide yourself?”

This was why he hadn’t attacked yet. Since Li Hao dared attack them, all of the defenders felt that he surely did so with Battle Heaven and Zhang An’s support. The traitors were still wary of Zhang An.

Next to him, Azure Armor Han Jiang was the vice commander of the Boundless army. He didn’t say a word to the invaders. Instead, he issued orders to the reserve defenders, commanding them to mobilize.

Void shields swung into the air, sealing away the premises. Void chains were designed to keep an enemy from escaping. They snaked through the sky to seal off the void as the city was concerned that Zhang An would suddenly break through the air to attack them.

The two Saints instantly complete all defensive measures. Meanwhile, Gold Armors swiftly congregated within the city. One, two, three...

Thirty Gold Armors stood at the ready in the blink of an eye. They were almost all Immortals, and that wasn’t the full extent of their capabilities. Some of the Silver Armors seemed to still be alive. Their blood qi soared to the heavens and their presence was on par with Immortal.

The ground teemed with troops—there were at least several tens of thousands. However, they didn’t all seem to be alive. Many of them were like the soldiers of Battle Heaven—lingering obsessions. It was only the Bronze and Silver Armors that seemed to still be alive.

Many Gold Armors were also alive. All of them swiftly assembled a defensive military formation.

Rays of light also materialized over the massive city walls to form a gigantic shield of light around the entire city. Countless supernatural cannons festooned the ramparts, taking aim at Li Hao’s group.
