Chapter 1034: A Terrifying Li Hao (II)

“The Great Li king is strong enough, as is the divine priest,” the ancients continued their conversation. “The rest are... mediocre. It looks like it’s still up to us! I wonder what the lord has in mind. We might as well send out all of the replicas we can and outright extinguish the Li family bloodline!”

“The lord has his plans in mind, we just need to execute his orders and don’t think too much. We are all in the same boat now. The lord also has no desire for this world to be ruled by the Lis again!”

That was a sentiment that everyone could agree with. Whatever the sovereign’s surname was, it was fine so long as it wasn’t Li or Fang. Those two families were horrifying.

“There is news from the Great Li side,” said the Gold Armor leading the group. “They’re on the move. We can take action as soon as confusion develops in the city!”

“Got it!”

“Don’t worry, we fought endless battles during New Martial. We still have that keen sense of battle timing...”

“How can these new humans of Great Li ever understand how many battles we experienced during that age?”

“Enough, don’t mention New Martial again!” someone grunted. That immediately stopped the discussion. That was right... they had very mixed feelings about this at times.

They were proud of how strong New Martial was. They’d once fought for New Martial and worshipped the Human King. Their blood had run hot when New Martial rose.

But in the end, they betrayed their age and countless years later, they disdained humans of the new era. New Martial was the true age of the strong!

The ancients held Initial Martial and the new age with contempt, and didn’t think much of a major world like Red Moon. Even though they were indomitable in this world and dared ambush the Sword Sovereign and others, even though they hoped for powerhouses from Red Moon world to help them defeat New Martial...

Could Red Moon really triumph over New Martial? Could that world defeat the invincible Human King? Could it out maneuver the immensely shrewd Supreme Zhang?

It was a very complicated mix of feelings that sometimes made them afraid of mentioning ‘New Martial’. At the same time, they were proud of how strong New Martial was and the fact that they were once part of it.

And yet, destiny made fools of people sometimes.

There were those among them who used to complain that the Human King was too ruthless. Corruption and negligence existed in any era. The Human King never bothered to look into the reasons why and just gave the order to execute the offender.

They lacked cultivation resources—there were too many powerhouses in New Martial and the Human King only took care of his own. For fringe characters like these ancients, he never showed a whit of care. If they fought and took from others to obtain their own resources, they were assigned to execution!

Would we have betrayed New Martial if the Human King had been just a bit more merciful?

At the end of the day, however, betrayal was betrayal. Any sum of excuses and reasons were just self-consolation. There was no way back for them now.

......

As a wild variety of thoughts ran through the ancients’ minds, another group of people silently drew near Silver City. Divine priest Jiang Li bore a complicated expression on his face.

The king’s parting words with him had held another layer of meaning. It was time for the divine temple to bow its head as a royal subject. And yet, there were some temple priests whose faith had reached such pure extremes that they would not easily turn from the temple to follow the king.

Therefore, it was the temple priests that undertook the operation. It was not the royal guards that were in the primary positions.

Jiang Li looked at some of the priests among the crowd—most of them were fanatics. The king... might truly wish to leave them here. They would be subject to the same fate as the disobedient tribes. This was a royal scheme that took the priest completely by surprise.

“Exercise caution when you spring the ambush,” Jiang Li transmitted to the group, quieting all of the other thoughts in his mind. “Li Hao’s people are not weak—they would not induce fear in others and cause Skystar’s tyrants to be powerless otherwise!

“Do not underestimate his side.” The priest couldn’t help but issue some additional words of warning. “Our ancestors once fought Silver Moon martial masters and the province was able to withstand Great Li by itself back in the day. That is more than proof enough of how strong they are...”

“Don’t worry, divine priest!” someone quickly responded. “The light of the divine temple will surely envelop the world!”

That was a temple priest. Meanwhile, the royal guards remained silent. They were loyal only to the king, so they were never interested in talking about the light of the divine temple. The guards were unwilling to be involved in those topics.

They had an additional mission issued from their king. If the ambush was on the verge of failing, they should have the priests cover the retreat. As for how exactly... the divine priest would make the arrangements. It was a confusing set of orders since Jiang Li was the main temple priest.

Time passed bit by bit. Balls of light started drifting toward Silver City through the darkness.

......

Silver City.

A mirror hovered in the air, reflecting only black fog from its surface. There was no further information to be gleaned from the treasure. Li Hao frowned ferociously—he couldn’t sense the aura of heaven and earth anymore. The Great Li king had left!

What was going on? Why was the king not in place at his camp? Was he hiding somewhere to deliver a fatal blow at his opponents?

The atmosphere was a bit weird tonight. Seeing as the black fog was about to drift over them, Li Hao threw the mirror into the void and commanded it to emanate a faint luster.

A bolt of black lightning descended from the sky. Kaboom!

The mirror trembled slightly from the force of the thunderclap. Chanting rang in the ears of Li Hao and his people.

Heaven flipped and earth turned!

The world seemed to return to the era of primordial chaos. It was a method familiar to Li Hao as the scarlet cloak had utilized it in the mine. This was the world of Initial Martial, a period of chaos!

It could trap the enemy, but also be one’s own downfall. Li Hao put it out of his mind.

“Charge!” he roared.

Boom!

Powerhouses behind him shot into the void and rushed the ball of black fog. Yuan Shuo was the fastest—he darted like lightning and delivered a punch that shattered the primordial void. He’d been biding his time since the battle during the day and chuckled grimly, punching the black cloud to pieces!

One hundred figures emerged from it; one black-robed ancient snorted and answered with a punch. Intense fighting erupted on all sides as ancients engaged modern humans.

However, Li Hao frowned at the scene. The Great Li king really was missing from the action. He saw the main priest, however.

“It looks like Commander Li long detected our existence.” Jiang Li was also looking around strangely. “And here I thought this ambush would accomplish something.”

A strange ripple emitted from his mouth and shook the world!

A dome of light suddenly shifted over from south of Silver City. Jiang Li waved countless thunderbolts into existence. They crashed into the combatants with dazzling brilliance, taking Li Hao aback. Were these the methods of Initial Martial?

They commanded thunder and lightning like supernatural abilities. The Initial Martial gods seemed to wield one dao each by themselves. This was similar to Skystar citizens of this age. Strictly speaking, this age could count as the Initial Martial age of the new world. Therefore, their daos would bear some similarities.

“I’ll take care of this guy!” Li Hao wanted to experience the Initial Martial dao for himself. He set foot through the air and struck with his sword, splitting chaos apart!

A ‘thunder’ supernatural character materialized; the sword stroke crashed through black lightning like it was heavenly thunder itself.

“So that’s all there is to you!” Li Hao raised an eyebrow. When it came to lightning versus lightning, he was the victor.

Jiang Li was not surprised by the outcome. How could the young man have conquered Skystar if he didn’t possess some strength to his name? He waved walls of fire into existence, splitting them into thousands of gouts that spat at Li Hao.

The young man responded with another supernatural character—fire. Countless flames erupted into existence, obliterating his opponent’s flames. Li Hao wasn’t in a hurry to follow-up, not all of the enemy was here yet. He wanted to see what the Great Li king had up his sleeves. At the same time, he was on guard against the king ambushing him.

The main priest was strong enough as well. Li Hao found his lightning and flames to be stronger than many seven element Arcanus.

“Commander Li is valiant, alright, but this isn’t enough!” Jiang Li laughed softly. “The dao of Initial Martial isn’t limited to that of the elements!”

He disappeared. Li Hao was suddenly sucked into a patch of chaos. There was no one here—all of the combatants vanished.

A god materialized in the chaos, boundless without end. It raised a foot to stamp out the young man.

Boom!

The world shattered! The god was almighty and seemed to be the main priest.

Li Hao raised his head to the sky and shot out a ray of golden light from his eyes, permitting the big foot to descend. He suddenly whirled around and stabbed his sword into the void with a faint frown.

“An attack of the mental arena, huh? That’s interesting. But I have the sword eye and can see through falsehood. You won’t do!” His sword stroke seemed to break something; the world shattered.

Jiang Li reappeared with blood streaming out of his orifices. “No wonder the king said you would be a difficult opponent!” He looked at the young man with surprise.

Combatants reappeared around them, along with crashes and booms of vehement fighting. Silver Moon martial masters were matched against the black-robed ancients. The ancients were core origin replicas and more than a dozen were present. Their opponents were martial masters who’d been listed on the Record of Thirty-Six. Each one possessed extraordinary battle strength!

Of course, there was a batch that was slightly weaker such as Jadelight Sword and Golden Spear. They were engaging the royal guards and temple priests.

Li Hao scanned the royal guards’ tactics. They were run-of-the-mill and primarily made use of a stalwart body. It was the temple priests who fought in an interesting manner. Some were even using techniques similar to a personal domain, making them similar to Arcanus supernaturals. The royal guards were more akin to cultivators of unattributed meridians.

While Jiang Li was very strong, Li Hao didn’t think much of him. He was waiting for the Great Li king.

It was then that a ball of light slammed into the chaos. Fifty powerhouses popped into existence and a ray of sword light pierced through the world before Li Hao could react. It was so sudden that the young man barely got a peek before the sword light shredded a core origin replica.

“Li Daozong!” growled some of the black-robed ancients.

Indeed, it was the Ninth Division leader.

Golden armor manifested over Li Daozong’s body and killing intent filled his eyes. “Execute the traitors!” he commanded in arctic tones.

Kill!
