SSS Technology System: My Talent's Name Is NanoForge-Chapter 37: An Intergalactic Agent?
"I’ve been curious about you Mason Harris, you don’t seem like the type of guy who gives two shits about his education, but yet you are breaking records." She chuckled.
"Well I’m just that kind of guy, you know? The ones they say don’t judge a book by it’s cover." He rested his arms over his shoulders, and to be honest, it was kind of satisfying spending his ways like a normal person.
Sophia stopped, and her hair immediately casted a shadow over her eyes. "Yeah... I don’t, that’s how I also know you weren’t the one who solved those equations. It was H.A.V.A, wasn’t it? Night Hunter?"
"What was that?" His eyes went wide, and he froze on the spot. There was nothing that could describe how unbelievable everything she said sounded like. How did she know about H.A.V.A? And more importantly, how did she know that it was H.A.V.A that solved those equations?
"Hava? What the hell are you talking about?" He scratched the back of his head, turning around to face her with a confused expression, trying to act naturally.
"You really don’t know what I’m talking about?" She asked, her voice a bit colder than before.
"Um, yes."
"I see." Almost immediately, she drew out a weirdly shaped hilt from her skirt, and it extended to become a strange blade, with intricate designs and carvings.
Almost immediately, he lunged forward at him, aiming the blade at his chest.
"What!?" At the last moment, Mason leapt into the air, his body twisting backward in a smooth motion before he landed on his knees, skidding to a stop several meters away from her.
Although he slipped past the blade, it tore clean through his shirt, exposing the sharp lines of his chiseled abs.
"What?" Her eyes widened a bit before it went back to normal. "NanoForge has already merged with you till this degree? Damn it, at this rate I’m going to have to kill you to recover it!"
She lunged forward again, this time with the intent to kill him.
’NanoForge!? She knows about NanoForge!? Impossible, maybe she overheard me when I called Hava, but NanoForge!? And that sword, it’s almost like my Excalibur... I don’t think she’s here to play.’
He stood his ground, and tried summoning the Dual Specter, but then he remembered. He left his suit in his wardrobe.
’Shit! Because Nano Regeneration is not operational now, I physically took off the suit Incase of any emergencies. I never thought I’d backfire at me like this. In that case..."
He dropped to his knees, then pushed off hard and soared into the sky. With his great strength, reaching a high point in the air was no trouble for him.
He held onto the railings of the building, pressed his foot firmly against the concrete it was fixed into, then looked down at Sophia.
"You’re not just a transfer student are you? Who are you? What agency do you work for? And how did you figure out I am Night Hunter?" There was so many questions he wanted to ask, but with her desire to kill him, those were the best he could ask.
"Work for?" She chuckled. "You think I work for one of your kind’s abominable organization?" She held the tilt of her blade tightly.
"Of all the things you’ve done to me, that has to be the worst!" She leapt up from the ground, and to his surprise, she managed to reach him with her blade.
"What!?" Before she could strike his head, he swung his body over the railings with his hands, landed neatly on the upper balcony, and then made his way up to the roof.
"You’re not getting away!" She ran after him without stopping across the roof, but he was faster thanks to NanoForge. She hurled her blade at him, and it spun through the air at high speed.
"What’s with this girl!?" He dove into a roll and narrowly avoided the blade, then with a sudden burst of speed, he dashed forward even faster.
"Got you." The bracelet on her wrist lit up with a green glow, and the blade froze mid-spin for a moment before whirling again, drawn by an unseen force straight back into her hand.
"She can control her blade!?" He dropped to a crouch at the very last second, barely avoiding having his head cut off, but when he glanced over his shoulder, Sophia lunged at him and drove him off the rooftop with a spear.
"S-shit!" They plummeted from the roof toward the ground. Without the Dual Specter, survival was impossible. Just as it seemed like the end for him, Sophia drove her blade into the wall mid-fall.
The blade cut through the walls as they fell, slowing their descent, and when they neared the ground, she flung him down with force, and he crashed into the ground with a loud thud.
"O-ow... That hurt." Before he could get up, she landed squarely on top of him, pushed him back into the ground, and grabbed him by the neck.
"Goodbye, Mason Harris." She raised the blade high above her head, then thrust it down toward his chest.
"Wait!" Mason shouted, and she stopped halfway.
"What is it? Can’t you see I’m about to kill you!?"
"Why do you want to kill me!?" He spoke in a muffled voice, struggling to form words with her hand pressed tightly against his neck.
"I told you didn’t I? Now that NanoForge has bonded with you, the only way I can retrieve it is to kill you." She replied with a cold gaze.
"How are you going to retrieve NanoForge when it’s out of power?"
"What!?" She tightened her grip on his neck, pressing her hand even harder than before. "What do you mean it’s out of power!?"
"C-can’t... Breathe." He mumbled under his muffled breath.
Sophia released her grip on his neck. "Whst do you mean it’s out of power?"
He gasped slowly, taking in the breaths of fresh air she deprived him off. "In my battle against that mutant, I was almost killed, but NanoForge activated some kind of self defense protocol which drained it. Now it’s recharging."
"Tsk." She stood up from him, and her blade retracted back into it’s handle. She had no clue if it was possible to retrieve NanoForge when it wasn’t active, so it was risky to try now.
"I won’t kill you, not at least till NanoForge recharges itself." She said disdainfully.
"Good to hear, but at least start with a name or something! Who the hell are you!? And how do you know about NanoForge?" He held his neck and carefully twisted it, trying to bring some feeling back into it.
Sophia sighed, then turned to face him. "I am agent Kruulith of the galactic Stellar Expanse Division. And NanoForge, is my mission."
