SSS-Ranked Demon Hunter: The Prodigy-Chapter 115: The Supremacy Arc, Part 18
Chapter 115: The Supremacy Arc, Part 18
Mujin stood alone.
In front of him — nearly fifty elite hunters. Twenty S-Ranks, two dozen armed soldiers, support mages, and ranged gunners. Behind them, the battered Headquarters of the Hunter Association.
He took one step forward.
Then vanished.
Five hunters dropped before anyone could react. Blood sprayed across the snow. Heads rolled into the gutter. Screams turned into gurgles.
"He’s—!?"
One sniper managed to shout before a hand erupted through his chest from behind. Mujin was already there, withdrawing his arm like nothing happened. His eyes glimmered in disappointment.
"TO BATTLE!!!"
Yeonghee charged with a cry, her katana spinning like a cyclone. She slashed across his side, drawing blood. In a second, she slashed him around hundred times.
But Mujin didn’t even flinch — he drove his fist into her gut, lifting her off her feet and sending her crashing through a vehicle.
She didn’t rise.
But her bold move encouraged others to fight.
Sora dashed in.
"Can’t even lie, this situation makes me sick to my stomach."
Lightning coiled around her sword, and she landed a clean strike on his shoulder — but he barely blinked.
"N-Not enough?!"
With a cold grunt, he swept her leg and kicked her in the chest, sending her flying into a wall.
"Keep pressing!!" Reina cried.
She and the other hunters jumped into him at the same time. The road cracked.
Mujin, briefly obscured, stood still — until from the smoke—
Adam shot forward, his straight sword glowing crimson. He dove low and cut into Mujin’s lower back. Mujin grunted.
He turned — too late to avoid Shingen.
"Kenketsu."
A large amount of blood dripped to his palms, forming a glowing greataxe.
"Poor Soul’s Bane."
His axe ignited into crimson fire as it crashed into Mujin’s chest, carving deep. Flames engulfed him, but still, he stood.
"More." Mujin smiled.
Then he stepped on a splatter of blood — and disappeared again.
"Damn demon!" Adam shouted. "Shingen, again!"
Shingen nodded.
Behind them, screams erupted.
Ten soldiers dropped dead instantly. Arteries split. Throats torn. Mujin danced between them like a ghost. Arms were ripped clean from sockets. One sniper was torn in two mid-incantation, his organs steaming in the snow.
"Fall back—FALL BACK!!" yelled Reina.
But they couldn’t.
Ryu leapt from the second floor, mutated arm forming a massive, cleaver-like blade. He slashed down with brutal force, actually cutting into Mujin’s thigh. Blood gushed.
"Not so invincible now, huh?!"
Mujin looked at Ryu for one second.
Then drove two fingers into Ryu’s chest, narrowly missing his heart. Ryu screamed as he was sent flying back, his armor shredded.
Ming, seeing the chance, unleashed his large, hammer-like arms, and slashed the road, barely hitting the enemy. The pressure shattered windows, disorienting Mujin.
"Way to go!" shouted Ryu. "WE shouldn’t give him a chance! You think you can kill me quickly? Until Kihyun comes, I’m not going to die here. I must stay close to my GOAT!"
That gave Death Icon (Seojun) the opening.
He appeared in front of Mujin like a blur, claws raking down across Mujin’s chest. Blood exploded outward. With a roar, Seojun pinned Mujin to the ground and began slashing wildly, tearing the concrete apart.
But Mujin laughed.
From the blood pooling beneath him, he teleported again — this time above — and with a divekick, sent Seojun smashing into the pavement, forming a crater.
Ryu jumped from the back, blasting a crushing blow. Suddenly, Mujin formed twin daggers on his palm, blocked his attack and threw him aside.
Hunters screamed.
Adam saved the soldiers, blocking Mujin’s daggers with his sword. Mujin appeared beside him and smashed his face to the ground.
Shingen came to help, attacking Mujin from behind. His slash was blocked with twin daggers.
"And how are you that strong?"
"Don’t talk," Mujin smirked. "Dead shouldn’t make noises."
Adam crept up from the side, but Mujin tackled both of them with his kicks. His daggers strived for more kills.
Adam parried another blow — only to have his weapon arm dislocated in the next second. He grunted, refusing to scream, and slashed upward with his remaining hand — scoring another shallow cut on Mujin’s jaw.
Mujin’s smile widened.
"More," he whispered again.
The snow swirled as Adam fell to one knee, gasping. His right arm hung limp, dislocated from Mujin’s last strike. His blade trembled in his left hand, still slick with the blood he had managed to draw.
But it wasn’t enough.
Not even close.
Mujin stood just meters away, unbothered by the cuts across his chest and arms. His blood dripped into the snow like crimson raindrops—yet his steps were light. Playful.
Adam’s breath caught in his throat.
His mind raced:"How do I stop this? I’m not strong enough. One clean hit, and I’m gone."
Behind him lay Seojun, barely moving. Ryu was still twitching. Yeonghee leaned on her katana to stay upright. A dozen snipers and soldiers were dead. Sora coughed blood in the rubble. The battlefield was red and broken.
And across from him stood Shingen, blood trickling down his brow, axe shaking—but still standing. Still ready to fight.
"Again," Shingen said.
Adam’s heart twisted.
"If I fall now... what happens to them? To Reina? To Sashi... To Haebin?"
He closed his eyes. His breath slowed.
"I’m not enough... but I just can’t give up. Not now. Not when everyone else is still breathing. Not when even Shingen hasn’t quit."
Then, something inside him stirred.
Resolve.
Like cold steel forged in the center of his ribs.
"When I have Shingen on my side, I don’t need to strike harder. I need to protect better."
A pulse rippled through his chest. He opened his eyes — they shone dark red.
Kenketsu activation.
The blood on the snow rose around him — swirling, spiraling, gathering at his side and forming something massive.
A deep hum vibrated in the air.
A shield.
Its surface was shaped like jagged cuirass fused with bone, glowing with pulsating crimson veins. It latched onto Adam’s body — covering his left arm, shoulder, part of his torso, and back like organic armor. Its shape was asymmetrical, primal, defensive. A barrier born of desperation and love.
"Kenketsu: Hellish Bulwark."
Mujin’s eyes narrowed.
He stepped forward — and slashed.
Adam blocked it.
The blow that had shattered concrete... stopped.
His shield cracked slightly but held. His feet skidded back, carving twin lines in the snow — but he remained standing.
Mujin blinked in mild amusement.
Then came a flurry of strikes, each faster than the last. Mujin danced, teleporting between blood spots, reappearing behind Adam, above, to the side — blows that would have annihilated anyone else.
But Adam blocked each one.Not perfectly. Not cleanly. But enough.
For the first time, Mujin stepped back.
