Chapter 145: CH 145: Unity
"His name is..." Dave’s words hung in the air, suspended like a challenge, as the crowd held its collective breath. The anticipation was palpable, the silence thick with expectation. Would he dare to utter the god’s name, summoning him to their presence? The crowd’s imagination ran wild with possibilities.
But Dave’s expression turned wry, a hint of amusement dancing in his eyes. "Nah, I wouldn’t be so stupid to do that," he said, a low chuckle rumbling in his throat. The crowd’s tension dissipated, replaced by a mixture of relief and curiosity.
But then, Dave’s tone turned serious, his words painting a picture of desperation. "Believe me or not, our world is on the brink of destruction," he said, his voice laced with conviction. "But now that we know who’s behind it, we can save our planet and stop the god from destroying our world."
A spark of determination ignited in the crowd’s eyes as Dave outlined the plan. "But to do this, we need all hands on deck," he said, his voice rising with passion. "We have to be united, everyone on earth has to be, and then, we can fight the god together. Let’s use his power against him!"
The crowd’s response was instantaneous, a thunderous "Yes!" erupting from their lips like a battle cry. Despite the initial skepticism, the people’s doubts began to fade, replaced by a growing sense of faith in Dave’s words. It was still hard to wrap their heads around the idea of a god being behind the apocalypse, but something about Dave’s conviction was infectious.
But as the crowd’s excitement began to simmer down, murmurs of speculation started to spread like wildfire. People huddled together, their voices hushed but animated, discussing the god’s mysterious name and the potential consequences of uttering it. The air was filled with curiosity, with everyone wondering what secrets lay hidden behind the god’s enigmatic name.
Meanwhile, Dave stood tall, his eyes scanning the crowd as he decided to speak up again. His voice rang out clear and purposeful, cutting through the din of conversation. "So, here’s our first step into uniting the world," he announced, his words dripping with conviction. "We have to create a faction."
The crowd’s attention snapped back to Dave, their faces set with anticipation. "As the beast tamers that we are, we will all gather ourselves into one single faction," he declared, his voice building momentum. "But that’s not all," he added, his eyes gleaming with a hint of excitement. "There are also those out there who have the same beast powers as us, it might not be beast taming, but they have something to do with beasts, so we’ll be accepting them all into our faction."
"Many of them are out there trying to survive, perhaps had ended up in the situation that you guys once found yourselves with Kim Hyun," he said, his voice thoughtful.
"But how do we know what powers they have if we want to take them in?" The question hung in the air, a challenge waiting to be addressed. A ripple of interest ran through the crowd, their minds racing with the different thoughts.
"Now, everyone check your neighbors’ neck, you will see a mark on it, a mark in the shape of a black circle." Dave instructed, his voice calm and matter-of-fact. "Go around and you’ll see that everyone has the same mark." The crowd’s eyes scanned each other’s necks, their faces were a mixture of curiosity and skepticism.
As they followed Dave’s instructions, the majority of the crowd’s eyes widened in surprise as they discovered the black circle mark on each other’s necks. The realization dawned on them, and a sense of unity began to form. The mark seemed to be a tangible connection to their shared experience, and it was as if seeing it on each other’s necks made Dave’s words more believable.
The crowd’s murmurs turned into a gentle hum of conversation as they began to discuss the mark among themselves. Dave’s words seemed to take on a new level of authenticity, and people started to nod in agreement.
"Not just us beast tamers," Dave continued, his voice inclusive. "I know a group of people who also have this same mark on their neck, their power isn’t exactly beast taming, but they are still one of us. The plan isn’t just to take people with the same mark, the same beast powers as us, but also to take in the weak, the destitute into our faction. We need to unite."
The crowd’s eyes lit up with understanding, and a sense of purpose began to form. Dave’s plan was starting to take shape, and people were beginning to see the bigger picture.
"But first, we will start by accepting those with the same mark as us into our faction," Dave said, his voice filled with determination. "Then when the time comes, we will accept anyone willing to join our faction, sooner or later, I’m sure we will be able to convince everyone to become united again under one banner, and then we’ll face the common enemy that we all have, the god!"
The crowd’s response was a mixture of nods and determined expressions, as if they were collectively steeling themselves for the challenge ahead. The air was electric with anticipation, and people seemed to be waiting for the signal to take action.
However, at that moment, the air was pierced by a sudden, unfamiliar sound that seemed to emanate from a distance. A glow began to build in intensity, illuminating the already darkened area where the crowd stood. The light grew brighter, casting an otherworldly glow over the faces of the gathered people.
Subconsciously, everyone’s gaze turned towards the direction of the light, their eyes drawn to the source of the glow. And then, they saw it - a massive billboard, one that had likely been used to advertise products and music in the normal state of the earth. But now, the billboard’s purpose seemed to have taken a different turn.
The screen flickered to life, and a figure appeared, towering over the crowd. It was a middle aged man, one who none of them recognized. His presence was imposing, and the crowd’s collective breath caught in their throats as they gazed up at the screen.
"Good evening, everyone," the man’s voice boomed, echoing through the air like a gentle thunderclap. The words were innocuous enough, but the tone was laced with an air of superiority, as if the speaker was accustomed to being obeyed without question. The crowd’s eyes remained fixed on the screen, their faces a mixture of fascination and trepidation.
