Chapter 52: Practicing New Element

Leon didn’t waste any more time thinking and entered his time dimension after sitting in a more comfortable cross-legged position on the ground.

The steps he took from the floor, were only a few steps, but they felt heavy and filled with power.

Thud

Thud

Quite a bit of noise was created due to his controlled steps hitting the wooden floor. He was putting his feet down gently, fearing he would break the floor.

After taking his position, his consciousness entered the same timeless expanse of grey. The first time he entered here to train, it felt so boring from time to time, to just train for days with his dagger.

But he was getting used to this space. He could even feel a bit excited to enter this place because he knew when he came out, he would be much stronger than before.

A thought arose in his mind before he even started training.

’Let’s see if this works in here too...’

He called out for his status screen in his mind to see if it would work in this form or not. He had never tried it and was curious to find out.

’Status’

Those commands in his mind made a shimmering transparent golden screen appear in front of his mystical eyes.

Seeing the rank 7 elemental affinity, he felt delighted. He knew if this ability was in the hands of others, it wouldn’t have been as potent as with him, as he held the affinity to all the elements. This ability or this class felt like it was made just for him.

The fact it didn’t even take any toll on him at all in any form when he activated the passive was even more amazing. After the first activation, it felt like it had become a part of him. He didn’t need to do anything to stay in that way. He could feel he could turn it off, but why would he.

The connection between him and the elements was stronger than ever.

’Let’s start with my lightning affinity control, reaching at least the same level as Ice affinity.’

Then he would focus on Space affinity. While skills sound cool and amazing, having control of your affinity and using it as you wish is much more practical than single skills.

So he knew which thing to give priority to.

He remembered it took him about four months to reach that level of control in both Ice and Wind elements. It was only because before, he had trained for more than a year inside this space to reach his Mana Body reinforcement to Adept rank, which had improved his Mana control to a high degree.

Leon started now. He tried to summon a bit of lightning around his hand while using only a little mana. He got it summoned on the first try, which was a bit surprising, like how he wanted it to go, but it was like a wild untamed beast without control.

Crackle!

For the little amount of mana he had used, it was also surprising to see his whole forearm being covered in yellow lightning, crackling with dangerous intensity.

’The increase in rank in affinity had reduced the cost of mana, and more importantly, made the element many times stronger than before.’

He got a bit curious as he wanted to see how powerful it was. He tried to use about 100 mana but didn’t go as far as before like using about 250 mana while creating the spear.

He didn’t think he could shape it in the form he wanted or compress it to make it more powerful, so he used the raw power.

He was standing in a rocky area. He never focused much on the world formed inside the hourglass before, but everything felt too real. It didn’t feel like it was made out of his imagination, as he had never visited a place like this.

As far as he could see, there were only grey rocky mountains around, and beyond that, his sight couldn’t allow him to see. He was surrounded by them. There was no sun and moon in here, but it was always around the time before sunset.

He activated his adept rank mana body enhancement and tried to run toward a big rock that seemed a perfect target for his trial.

Boom!

A boom sound was made due to the pressure he had caused to the wind around him. His body moved so fast that he had no control over it. A cloud of dust was left in the place he stood a second ago, and now his body was a hundred meters away on the ground with a few broken bones and blood leaking out of his hands and legs.

Crash!

"Gah—damn it!" he growled through gritted teeth, the pain flaring like fire along his limbs.

It reminded him a bit about the time inside the dungeon against the thorn monster, as that was the only thing that hurt him to that degree. It wasn’t at that level, but broken bones could be such a big liability in the real world.

’It’s good I didn’t try anything in the real world.’

But this experience made him realize one absolute rule and two important things as his body got back to its original state after a few seconds.

’Absolute rule: Never scratch your balls no matter how much itches when using lighting affinity, that shit fucking hurts!’

While recovering he had done that and it was even more painful than the crash itself.

Recovery was just as painful as the crash, as everything would mend itself like going back to the previous state in real-time with the same pain.

First, how awesome this treasure was. He understood how powerful a mythical ranked treasure was. It could change the fate of the person.

’The grumpiness in the entity’s voice was justified when I got this treasure.’

Second, he needed an element that could heal his wounds in case of injuries. He was getting stronger much faster than he had thought. His own strength could finish him with a slight mishap. He did feel tougher than before but not to the degree that he could take the brunt of his own attacks.

He was lucky to have this treasure, which would allow him to run wild and make his learning process much faster. Otherwise, it would have been much tougher to train.
