SSS Awakening: Rebirth of the Strongest Vampire God-Chapter 708: Good as new
"I have no idea. That is something for you to figure out." Damon bluntly answered.
The emperor looked at his daughter, then back at Damon. His hands trembled as he slowly knelt beside the bed, resting his forehead against Alzara’s unmoving hand.
"...She was never meant for a fragile fate," he whispered. "My daughter was born to rule this great desert. She shouldn’t be lying here like this. She was meant to command storms and sand, to rule this great desert with her head held high."
He lowered his forehead to her hand, and the man’s entire body trembled. Damon couldn’t see it, but he was pretty sure the emperor was actually crying.
For a long moment, the room was filled only with the faint sound of Alzara’s shallow breathing and the distant whisper of desert winds against the pavilion dome. Damon watched in silence and then finally decided to interrupt the delicate moment.
He was a little short on time, so he would have to let the father and daughter hug it out after he was done. Besides, he couldn’t simply cure her in a second. He needed to play the part. So he decided to get things rolling.
"As touching as this is..." Damon said lightly, a faint smile tugging at his lips. "Shall I get started on healing her?" The emperor’s head snapped up.
"I can’t promise you anything," Damon continued calmly, eyes settling on Alzara once more. "But I intend to try my best. Let’s get her out of danger first, and you can hold her as long as you want after I’m done."
The emperor rose to his feet almost too quickly, as if afraid that any delay might cost him the chance entirely. "Please," he said. "Do whatever you must. Use the treasury if you have to. Use this empire. I will not interfere. I will give you everything you need. Please. Save her somehow."
Damon nodded. Taking a look at the treasury sounded interesting, but he was not a complete bastard. Maybe after he removed the poison, and just let her sleep for a bit?
"I need some time alone with her, and I do not want to be disturbed."
The emperor nodded without hesitation. "Of course. No one will enter. No one will even come near this pavilion unless you allow it."
He stepped back, casting one last lingering look at his daughter before turning away. At the entrance, he paused, straightened his robes, and spoke without looking back. "If anyone disturbs you, they will answer to me."
The doors slid shut behind him, sealing the pavilion in silence.
Damon waited a few seconds longer, just in case. Only when he was certain the emperor had truly left did he let out a slow breath and flopped onto the bed casually.
His gaze drifted to the beautiful woman lying on the bed. It was too bad he had to use her as a pawn like this but it would make his life a lot easier. When he came here, he planned to make a deal with emperor about shutting down the other orders and temporarily ascending the throne for a few days.
This was going to be a tricky deal and chances were that the old man wouldn’t accept it. But now Alzara’s condition just made everything easier for him.
"First the assassination attempt and now the poisoning. You really are not safe here, are you? Someone really hated you," Damon mused. "Or feared you."
He extended a finger and let a thin thread of blood essence slip into her body. Now he was able to get a better idea of the poison. Compared to before, his knowledge in this field was improving everyday so he could tell some things about the poison.
Not that it mattered. Ultimately, it did not matter what kind of poison it was. All he had to do...
Damon leaned down and sunk his fangs on the slender neck. Alzara’s body reacted instinctively. A moan escaped her lips as her pulse spiked, blood surging beneath Damon’s tongue, warm delicious blood. A lot more delicious than he remembered.
This was the first time he was drinking from her but her smell before was definitely different than the one right now. Something had changed.
"Interesting." Damon did not drain her recklessly. Instead, he took slow, measured pulls, guiding the flow with absolute precision. With every sip, he isolated the tainted blood, pulling it out in microscopic layers.
Alzara shuddered softly beneath him, a faint sound escaping her throat. Her fingers twitched, clutching weakly at the sheets as color returned to her skin in slow, visible waves.
"Easy," Damon whispered, pressing a hand to her shoulder to steady her. "You’re not waking up yet."
He drank a little more. Then he stopped. The poison was gone, every last trace of it erased, consumed, and digested as if it had never existed.
Alzara’s breathing deepened almost instantly, steady and strong now. The unnatural stillness faded, replaced by the quiet rhythm of genuine sleep. Her mana flow smoothed out, no longer erratic or frayed. If anyone examined her now, they would call it a miracle. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
On top of it, since there was a bit of time, Damon used his mana to open up a couple of mana channels in her body.
He then leaned back in satisfaction, licking a trace of blood from his lip. "There," he said lightly. "Good as new. Mostly." He did not want to call the emperor just yet. Maybe in an hour or so. So he closed his eyes and began to sync with his avatars.
But before he could start, the pair of pink lips moved slightly. "So I have to almost die to get your attention... if I knew it, I would have done it a lot sooner."
Damon smiled. The damned girl was already awake. "You should rest." He patted her gently when her eyes fluttered open. It was clear that she was straining to see him and yet she did it anyways. "Blood God..."
