SSS Awakening: Rebirth of the Strongest Vampire God-Chapter 704: Can’t I come to visit my sexy priestess?
"Impressive," Damon thought, eyes calm as he drifted with the foot traffic. Now he had to find someone from the guild, preferably someone important. He opened up the local chat and browsed through it. It was easy to get all sorts of information about the guild.
The Northern Frontier guild didn’t bother hiding its presence. The entire city was basically the guild residence and everything here was run by the Northern Frontiers guild. Which meant Damon didn’t need to hunt for them. He just needed to listen.
He tried a local tavern for a bit but he was not getting any good hits. While everyone gossiped about dungeon raids and abyssal land hunts, there wasn’t much chatter on the really important things. He needed a more elite group.
Damon knew exactly what he needed to do. He had wanted to hold off on this in case he needed it for something more important but he was already short on time and went with it.
Damon closed his eyes and reached out for the small wisp of blood essence he had left in the golden bastard’s body during the Niera City Blood Hall battle. The Blood Mark was intact even after all this time.
But unfortunately, it looked like the guy was in the middle of one of the abyssal territories.
"Nope. Not going in there just yet." Damon decisively withdrew his blood sense. He next reached out for the two other guild masters who had participated in the battle. The orange head and the witch who cursed him.
The orange head was surprisingly not in the game world at all. Or perhaps he was in a place where Damon’s blood sense couldn’t reach him. He might have also removed the wisp of blood? No matter the reason, it was useless trying to get a read on him.
That left Damon only one target. The witch aka the Rune Priestess. The guild master of the Southern Vanguard. Damon tried to get a sense for her location and he immediately got a hit. Coincidentally, she was very near. Just a few cities over.
Damon knew that location. She was in a demonic temple. Considering that the orange head was currently not in the game or in some unknown location, it was the perfect time to pay her a visit.
Damon slipped out of the tavern and headed over to the teleportation building. From there, he was in front of the demonic temple in a couple of minutes. He entered the temple in Stealth mode but soon enough, an angry voice drifted over.
"What are you doing here?"
Damon smiled. He undid his Stealth, appearing as the flamboyant orange head. "Can’t I come to visit my sexy priestess?"
Viola gave him a stare and then turned to walk away. She went inside the temple, where a group of people had already gathered. "Why are you here? Shouldn’t you be busy amassing more territories? Or have you given up on the event?"
Damon casually hummed. "Bleh. What’s the point?" He absent-mindedly ran his fingers over the runic inscriptions on the temple walls. The talking style and character of the orange head weren’t all that difficult to interpret from the way everyone gossiped about him, and there was a lot of gossip.
"What do you mean, what is the point? Do you no longer want to be on the team?" Viola sounded pretty annoyed. "I told them from the beginning that we should never count on someone like you, and now you are just proving me correct."
Damon sighed. "What are you, my hot step mom? Just shut up already. I am taking care of things. There is no need to be so anal about it. How about a drink? I recently came across some fine wine."
Viola scoffed. She did not respond anymore and walked into the inner sanctum of the temple, where a group of people wearing ceremonial robes surrounded a bunch of villagers.
"Yikes, what is going on here? Are you on another mass murdering spree again?"
Viola again remained silent. She simply signaled one of the robe-wearing guys and the ritual immediately started. The runes carved into the floor lit up one by one. The villagers at the center stiffened as chains of light wrapped around their limbs, pinning them in place. Their mouths opened in silent screams as the formation activated, siphoning something deeper than blood.
"So you are going all out, huh?" Damon calmly commented.
"You should be doing that too, instead of wasting your time on me. How many times do I have to tell you? I am not fucking interested in becoming your plaything. Leave me alone already."
"Come on, Viola. Don’t be like that. I even got a gift for you." Damon took out a gemstone that one of his shadow beasts had obtained from the Umbra’s legacy world. It was unidentifiable by the system and looked pretty special.
Naturally, he wasn’t planning to give it to her, but there was no harm in using it as bait.
"...Where did you get that?" Viola asked quietly as she examined the gemstone with interest.
Damon raised a brow, playing his part perfectly. "Tch. You rune freaks are all the same. Always asking questions instead of appreciating the gesture." He tossed the gemstone lightly in his palm. "Let’s just say I’ve got good taste and better luck."
Viola’s eyes narrowed. She ignored him and extended a hand slightly, her senses probing the gemstone without touching it. The moment her perception brushed against it, her pupils constricted.
That reaction told Damon everything. This woman had definitely figured something about the gemstone. He had to give it to these young masters from the hidden families. While they might have had all the privilege in the world, they also knew their stuff and put in some decent effort to make themselves outstanding.
"So what is it?" Damon asked.
"I am not sure, but it is a valuable array material. In fact, if I substitute this for one of my current materials, I wouldn’t be suffering from such a huge backlash for this ritual."
