SSS Awakening: Rebirth of the Strongest Vampire God-Chapter 698: Surrounded?
"...I hate all of you," Kate declared, then promptly scooped up a double handful of water and splashed it straight at Phoenix.
Phoenix yelped as cold water hit her face. "Hey!" She sputtered, eyes widening in disbelief for half a second, then her lips curved upward. "You asked for it."
She retaliated immediately, sending a shimmering arc of water straight at Kate. Ellora, who had been lounging smugly against the edge, wasn’t spared either. The splash hit her square in the chest.
Ellora slowly wiped water from her face, crimson eyes narrowing with dangerous amusement. "Oh? So this is how it is?" she said sweetly.
The next moment, water exploded everywhere.
Ellora rose slightly from the pool and unleashed a devastating splash that drenched half the grotto. Mallana squeaked and dove underwater to escape the chaos.
Arya let out a startled yelp as water hit her hair, then froze before awkwardly splashing back with all the force she could muster.
Sylvara sighed softly as droplets landed on her shoulder. "...Immature," she muttered.
A second later, she flicked her wrist, and a precise, high-pressure stream smacked Ellora right between the eyes.
Aurora, never one to stay on the sidelines of mischief, dove underwater and emerged like a predatory siren right between them, sending a massive geyser upward that drenched everyone. "No one is safe!" She giggled, attacking randomly left and right, even Erin, who was sitting like a statue on the other side, in deep thought.
The dignity of the high-ranking ladies and fierce warriors evaporated in an instant. The grotto filled with splashing, laughter, half-serious shrieks, and playful threats as water sloshed over stone.
The entire grotto became rowdy in just a few seconds with the group of naked women splashing around. Right at this moment, Erin suddenly stood up, her form transforming into her huge serpentine figure. "We are not alone. We are surrounded. Prepare to fight."
Just as all the women hurriedly summoned their weapons, several pairs of crimson eyes appeared all around them. The crimson eyes multiplied, blinking into existence along the jagged walls and ceiling of the grotto.
A second later, the darkness stirred, and the soft, leathery flutter of wings filled the cavern as dozens, no, hundreds, of bats detached themselves from the shadows. Even though they seemed like ordinary bats at first glance, thin streams of dark mist leaked from their bodies, giving them a strange, mysterious feeling.
The way they clung upside down, watching everything in eerie silence, was also extremely unsettling.
"They might be pests, but it’s best to get rid of them." Erin let out a low hiss, her massive coils tightening as her scales hardened and began to glow faintly with ancient runes. The others also agreed with her.
But Erin alone was enough to deal with something like this, so none of them bothered to continue attacking. Erin unleashed a wave of miasmic abyssal energy that burst from her coils, a suffocating tide of black-violet mist that rolled outward like a living thing.
The attack should have been more than enough to decimate the whole herd, but shockingly, the next second, the bats remained completely unaffected. A powerful blood barrier appeared around them, completely blocking the attack.
Erin’s face changed. Aurora acted instantly. Clearly, these were not normal bats. Something was going on. Her black wings sprouted behind her back. The next instant, powerful arrows of darkness shot forward from her, each aimed at a bat.
Unexpectedly, even her arrows of darkness that can make a C rank expert sweat didn’t even manage to break the blood barrier of these mundane creatures. Aurora gritted her teeth. She further upped her power, and darkness surged around her, drawing in mana from the pool.
It looked like she was about to go all out and unleash a powerful attack. Before she could fully get into it, a familiar laughter sounded from the corners of the cave. At the same time, the bats screeched and burst into motion, wings beating wildly as they surged upward.
This freaked out everyone even more, and Phoenix and Meira both literally burst into flames. Not just Aurora, everyone seemed as if they were going to unleash their most powerful attacks.
Before a single attack could be unleashed, the swarm abruptly halted midair, twisting unnaturally as the bats slammed together, their bodies dissolving into liquid shadow and blood mist. The mass condensed, reshaped, and solidified into a tall, familiar silhouette standing casually above the water.
"Ladies... relax... It’s just me." Damon smiled as he fully emerged, crimson eyes gleaming with barely restrained amusement. The oppressive pressure vanished as if it had never existed, leaving behind only stunned silence.
"Sorry, sorry, I did not mean to freak you guys out. I just wanted to test out the new skill and see how effective it was. That’s all." He added quickly, lifting his hands in a placating gesture even as amusement still lingered in his crimson eyes.
Seeing everyone standing around naked with only their weapon in their hands and serious expressions on their faces, ready to go ballistic, was simply too comical.
"I am glad you are enjoying yourself, Damon." Kate took a step forward threateningly. Her eyes narrowed as a cold glint appeared in them.
She cracked her knuckles, crimson motes of blood-light gathering around her fingers.
Damon awkwardly cleared his throat. "How about I compensate for all of this by helping you ladies out some more? More meridians?" He coughed and generously offered.
The offer was simply too good to refuse, so everyone seemed to be okay with it. Not that they minded in the first place. After all, they had all already been analyzed by Damon from head to toe.
However, Erin alone still did not relax. Her eyes were cold and indifferent, and murderous intent filled them. "My liege... is it really you? Perhaps you should spar with me first to prove it."
Damon chuckled. He actually expected Aurora to sense it as well, but it looked like Erin was still a bit more experienced than all the others. "Relax. You don’t have to worry. This is still me, but at the same time, it’s also not me. At least the real me. This is my blood clone."
