"So all you have done is fill up Varnyx’s coffers, and he offered you a noble title... heh." Damon chuckled.

One billion gold coins! What an astronomical amount of gold coins! What a ridiculous number of gold coins! A number that common folks couldn’t possibly think of in their entire lifetime. A number many players wouldn’t dare even aim for.

And yet this ridiculous number of gold coins was paid off just like that.

Damon stared at the rebuilding panel with a wry smile tugging at the corner of his lips. One billion gold. Just seeing that figure listed as "Completed" felt absurd. He could vividly remember his early days, struggling to scrounge up coins to buy his first set of proper gear.

"1 billion gold coins, huh... and such an amount is nothing to you. Good to know." Damon silently nodded.

As for who was behind this, he need not guess at all at this point. It couldn’t possibly be one of his local enemies like Daddy Brutal. That guy was a asshole but he was not an asshole with this much financial backing.

The only one who could throw around 1 billion gold coins like it was nothing...

"The super ten..." Damon’s eyes turned cold. He did not know which of the super ten was targeting him but he was pretty damn sure it was one of them.

And right now, by fucking with him, they had just given away an important clue to him. All of these super ten guilds potentially had soul arts in their possession, and all of them were ridiculously loaded!

Damon’s fingers hovered over the interface, but his mind was far from the screen. Why was this person targeting him all of a sudden? Especially when he had been silent for a while thanks to the black pool and La Rocha’s shenanigans.

Maybe the news about the black pool could have been leaked, but there was no way anything about La Rocha was leaked. For that matter, he should only be a flamboyant, arrogant idiot in front of these big guilds. There is absolutely no reason why they should target him at all. He was yet to exhibit the strength and power that could pose a threat to them.

Was this perhaps related to Artimius and their family?

Damon thought about many possibilities, but ultimately, he had only so much information. There was no point in thinking in circles. As he was staring at the blood panel and standing there, suddenly a new message popped up from Mark.

"Damon, something is going on. Both Kate and I are surrounded by almost two hundred players. We came out to do a quest from Varnyx, and all of a sudden, these guys showed up. Any idea who they are or how I should deal with them? Should we run or fight?"

Damon’s eyes sharpened like twin blades as he read the message. For a second, his body didn’t even twitch, frozen in that eerie stillness that only came before a storm. Then, his fingers closed the panel with deliberate calm, the interface vanishing as if dismissed by a king.

"Kill. Don’t even think about it. Kill them all." He sent the message.

This was not the outside world where he needed to run and hide. He had no idea how these people managed to target Kate and Mark or how they had gotten hold of their coordinates, but they had touched his bottom line. This time, there was going to be retaliation.

Mark had already sent him the coordinates, and Damon immediately started to make a move. He knew that Mark and Kate could probably handle themselves, but this was going to be a massacre, and there was nothing more he loved than a good slaughter ripe with the smell of blood everywhere.

Damon shadowstepped out of the blood hall and was about to head out when suddenly he received yet another message on his friend list. His face darkened as he had a bad feeling. He paused and opened up his system interface.

It was from Sylvara.

A group of elite players had ambushed Sylvara, Nevin, and the others in the black pool and killed them. They had now taken control of the trial area, completely blocking out Sylvara and her group.

But Sylvara had not contacted him because of that. She contacted because one of the elite players seemingly had an ice affinity, and apparently, his name in the leaderboard was climbing at an extremely fast rate.

Sylvara said that she was not too sure, but she had a feeling that this person had come here for a reason, and she said that she believed he had the ability to go all the way down and claim the entire legacy for himself.

Before Damon even had a chance to process this information, all of a sudden, a new message popped up from Lola.

Damon’s crimson eyes became dangerously predatory as he read her message.
