Chapter 199: Shall we have a taste?

Damon activated the golden gem, holding it steady between his fingers as a wave of warmth pulsed through his palm. The gem vibrated with a low, thrumming hum, like the heartbeat of a slumbering titan. A moment later, a deep chime echoed in the air around them.

[Ding! Initializing artifact: Null Sanctum Sigma-9... Core authority detected. Access level: Override. Beginning stabilization.]

Suddenly, the very air warped around them. The vibrant green valley, lush and peaceful, trembled as space itself was bent and carved.

With a deafening clang, a massive circular dome erupted from the ground, silent one moment, roaring with mechanical might the next.

Gleaming black alloy panels rose from the earth like a blooming steel lotus, clicking into place with smooth, terrifying precision. The dome pulsed with faint golden lines of runic etching, sealing shut with a clang that sent a pressure wave through the grass.

Mark stumbled back, his cocky grin vanishing. "No fucking way..."

Kate gaped beside him, hand instinctively reaching for her weapon. "That’s... that’s the prison..." She didn’t finish. She didn’t need to. They all felt it, the same oppressive weight pressing down on their souls.

Damon, on the other hand, stood perfectly still. His crimson eyes narrowed. "I knew it," he grinned. He had expected it to be bigger in size, but it looked like this was some sort of modified version. Maybe because the original thing was damaged?

"You got that whole metallic fortress?" Mark asked, unable to believe what he was seeing. "How is that even possible?"

Kate stared at him. "You brought back the fortress that tried to brain fry us all?"

Damon shrugged. "Technically, this one obeys me now. I think. I am 70% sure of it."

Kate’s eyes went wide. "Only 70%?" She took a step backward in fear as her body started trembling again.

Damon sighed a little. It looked like she had been affected quite a bit last time by everything that happened. He wouldn’t blame her. It was too much for anyone to handle, and for most people, it was barely a couple of weeks since the game even launched. There was no way they would react well to this sort of thing.

How was Mark doing? Damon exchanged glances with the guy, and he was doing a lot better than Kate. His fists were clenched tightly, and he seemed ready for round 2.

Damon smiled. "Alright then." He hugged the girl slightly, squeezing her with his arm around her shoulder. "Do me a favor, Kate. Can you stand outside this time and guard us while we explore what’s there inside?"

"I... Are you sure?" Kate stammered. Even though she was terrified of it, it did not mean she wanted to neglect her responsibilities and let Damon and Mark do all the hard work.

However, Damon firmly shook his head. "Look around. We are completely exposed. I need someone as the lookout. Can I count on you?"

"Okay." This time Kate did not refuse and nodded her head.

Damon smiled and was about to pat her head when he awkwardly stopped and cleared his throat. "Let’s go, buddy. I think there might be someone in there, waiting to meet us. Though I doubt he would be in a good mood."

Mark’s eyes widened again, but his determination was unwavering. He took steady steps forward, arriving at the doorstep of the dome. Damon stood right next to him. The two of them looked at the dome that was completely closed up on all sides.

"Open," Damon commanded, and a door responded instantly, parting with a hydraulic hiss as glowing golden lines flared across its surface. The circular seam split in the center and spiraled open like the iris of a mechanical eye, revealing a corridor lit with soft amber pulses.

Mark exhaled slowly. "This feels wrong."

Damon stepped in without hesitation. "Mmm. It’s wrong, alright." Damon stopped walking, looking at the long, winding corridor in front of them. There was no way he was going to go through all of this bullshit again.

He narrowed his eyes as a cold glint flashed across them. "Come out already. I do not have all day to spend on you."

"Hmmm?" Mark looked confused. The two of them continued to observe the surroundings, but nothing really happened.

"Are you going to come out or should I make you?" Damon growled, his voice echoing through the corridor.

For a moment, the Sanctum was deathly still. Then the lights flickered, once, twice, and a low hum resonated from deep within the structure. Slowly, runes started glowing in various parts of the metallic fortress, and veins of dull lightning started coalescing together.

Surprisingly, they all had a small red hue to them this time.

Then came the familiar voice, except this time there was no longer arrogance in it. "What have you done to me..."

Unexpectedly, La Rocha’s entire figure materialized in front of them. The same man who had terrorized them and had almost slaughtered them was now kneeling and looking at himself in shock and disgust.

Mark instinctively raised his fist, but Damon did not move.

"Don’t worry. He is not hostile." Damon grinned. His words made La Rocha flinch, and Damon added, "At least, not for now."

La Rocha shuddered, completely ignoring Damon’s words. "You... corrupted the Sanctum... you filthy bloodsucker!"

Damon chuckled wickedly. "I think you need to treat your master with more respect."

"NEVER!" La Rocha screamed, but the next moment, he clamped his mouth shut, no longer saying anything. It was almost as if he couldn’t.

Damon’s grin widened. To test if his command did indeed work, he summoned another person, a face that should be familiar to La Rocha.

Immediately, a crimson-haired Azuna appeared with a happy smile.

La Rocha’s face became filled with dread and horror as he slowly shifted his gaze to look at her. His mouth still did not open, but Damon could see the anger and misery in the man’s eyes. His whole body was trembling from top to bottom.

"Hey Azuna, didn’t you say you wanted to drink some blood from me?"

"Yes, Master. Whenever you permit me."

Damon laughed. "Now seems to be a very good time. La Rocha, dude, can you make a chair pop up here or something? Is everyone supposed to be standing all the time?"

The man’s face twitched, but he silently summoned a chair.

Damon hummed a happy little tune and sat down on it arrogantly. The next second, he signalled Azuna to get on his lap. Azuna obeyed his words without the slightest sign of hesitation. She was more than happy to walk to him and sit down on his lap.

Damon once again laughed. "Not like this, dummy. Like this." He lifted her plump ass up with his palms and placed her in such a way that she was riding him, their faces right next to each other.

La Rocha’s face paled. His entire body shuddered and trembled from top to bottom as his face twisted into something ugly with unimaginable rage and pain.

"Come here, darling. I have never tasted a world spirit’s blood. Do you even have any?"

"Yes, Master. I do have a physical body even if I am still growing."

"Good. Good." Damon laughed, not caring in the least about La Rocha’s expression. "Then how about we drink from each other at the same time? Shall we have a taste?" Damon winked, revealing a crooked, lecherous smile.
