SSS Awakening: Rebirth of the Strongest Vampire God-Chapter 194: Some things never should be spoken out loud
Chapter 194: Some things never should be spoken out loud
Sylvara didn’t respond right away. She simply looked at Robert, whose face was flushed with fury, his hands clenched into white-knuckled fists. The other clan members shifted uncomfortably, some glancing away, while others seemingly agreed with him.
Robert sneered. "Heh. Why are you even standing here still? He didn’t take you with him? You should have maybe opened your legs wider for him! If you had done that, he wouldn’t have left you here. Or who knows, ploughing into you was probably like ploughing into a corpse, and he threw you away in disgust."
Robert’s voice rang through the field, raw with rage and humiliation. His pride had been shattered, his body restrained by someone who should have been on his side as his woman, and now even Sylvara’s soft-spoken apology grated against his wounded ego.
"That’s enough! Shut the hell up! Just shut up! How dare you speak about her like that when she was the one who helped you even get your damn A rank class?" Nevin could not remain silent any longer. Robert was running his mouth as he pleased, and no one else was doing anything to stop him.
"Nevin..." Sylvara sighed, brushing her hair behind her ear as if this were just another passing storm. She didn’t look angry. Just exhausted.
"You don’t know anything, Sylvara. These people did not come here to help you. Everyone here accused you of hoarding something for yourself and not sharing with the rest of the guild. Not one of them was grateful for all of your sleepless efforts and the amount of time you have spent on them. They all only care about the hidden dungeon they came here to run. News flash! There is no fucking dungeon!" Nevin shouted, completely losing it.
Sylvara closed her eyes for a moment, letting the cold wind wash over her face. She would be lying if she said that this did not hurt, but then again, she had always been an outsider from the beginning. She let out a sigh and then opened her eyes again, only clarity remaining in them.
"You’re right, Nevin," she said, voice quiet but cutting. "And maybe I was a fool for thinking that loyalty could be earned by sacrifice. That if I just worked harder, if I just gave more... someday, you’d all understand."
Her gaze swept across the group, lingering on the faces of people she’d fought beside, bled for, and believed in. And yet now... none of them would meet her eyes.
"You didn’t come here for me. You came for yourselves. For the hope of hidden treasure, or a shortcut to power." Sylvara stopped and smiled. A very lonely and sad smile.
"But you all came here together, and that’s all that matters. In the end, our guild is still united and still stronger. However, I know my limits. After things have come this far, I will not continue like this anymore. I don’t want to hold our guild back. From now on, I will effectively step down as the guild leader." She then touched her wrist, vanishing from the sight of everyone, returning to the real world.
"Sylvara!" Nevin called out, but she was already gone. "You people don’t deserve her!" Spitting out venomously, Nevin also pressed his tattoo and got out of the game world.
For a few moments, no one moved. The snow continued to fall, wild and unruly.
Mendoza shifted uncomfortably. A few others exchanged awkward glances, their bravado from moments ago suddenly brittle. The guild that had once stood proudly behind Sylvara now looked like little more than a scattered collection of selfish, embarrassed strangers.
"...What the hell just happened?" someone muttered.
"She really left?"
"No... no way she actually stepped down..."
"Nevin was not wrong. She only helped me get my class."
A few people started speaking, and Robert’s face changed. "What are you all yapping about? Don’t forget those two bitches lied to us and brought us here for their own agenda. Something important happened, and they completely hid everything from the guild. Now those two have simply gone to rat us out like little bitches to my grandfather, to poison him more and more against me."
Robert’s words rang loudly. Even though it was difficult to accept, he was still telling the truth. Many people had conflicted emotions on their faces.
Robert, pleased with this development, continued. "Sylvara is a shrewd little witch. She might have said that she was stepping down from the guild master position, but she is definitely plotting something to take us down. An outsider will never care about our clan like we do. We cannot trust her. In fact, all of this might have been some sort of drama to get us away from the black pool, the real treasure for our clan!"
Mendoza cleared his throat and quickly added. "Let’s get back immediately! We need to protect that trial area at all costs. You all know how much you have gained from that place in just a few days. Imagine if we monopolized it for weeks and months. Come. Let’s forget this nonsense and return to what’s important."
The group agreed, and everyone immediately started walking back to the black pool. Robert turned and strode ahead with arrogant confidence, as if the prior humiliation had never happened. Mendoza jogged over to him and asked. "Are we really going to let this go? What about that strange woman? She was definitely not normal."
Robert scoffed. "That Blood God can dance all he wants. But soon he will be shot down like a rabid dog. I have already told them everything that happened here, and Victor was very interested. Heh. You do know what happens when Victor is interested, right?"
Mendoza grinned. "That bastard should soon be put in his place. Hey boss, what do you think about having a little fun with his family while we still can? His sister-in-law, especially, is just my type. He he. She gave me the stink eye twice when she walked past me. I would love to tame that bitch in bed."
Robert let out a sigh, shaking his head. "Mendoza, you need to be more focused. Don’t always think about women. If you improve your strength, women will automatically come running to you to warm your bed. First, understand that."
Mendoza awkwardly laughed, scratching his head. "Sorry, boss. Just an old habit of mine. Aha ha ha."
"It’s fine. Just be mindful of it. Now let’s go back as soon as possible. If I am not wrong, then Blood God should come there sooner or later, and when he does, we will be ready for them." Robert spoke as he playfully moved a ring up and down on his finger. As he did, a strange mark appeared and disappeared on his chest.
Mendoza gulped as he saw the mark. "Boss, there is no way that Blood God can stand against you. The world might think that there are only nine great families with nine great blessings, but no one knows that you have received the tenth blessing. At that time, even the nine great families will tremble in front of you if they know just who blessed you!"
Robert instantly turned and glared at him. Mendoza quickly zipped up his mouth.
"Control your fucking mouth. Some things never should be spoken out loud."
Mendoza silently nodded, no longer talking back.
