Chapter 124: Chapter 88: Redondo 2

Chen Yu said, "After discussing it with Nelson, we believe we can increase the training intensity. It will be good for the team."

Ramping up the training definitely had its benefits.

"But will it cause problems?" Skiles asked, looking at the players collapsed all over the floor. This level of training intensity was immense.

The key was that they had a game tomorrow. Pushing them this hard couldn’t affect their condition for it.

"Don’t worry, I have it under control," Chen Yu explained. "After the training, I’ll use massage and other methods to help them relax and ensure there are no issues."

Skiles nodded dubiously. He personally felt there might be an issue, but Chen Yu and Nelson’s professionalism was unquestionable. After some thought, he decided to wait and see.

After seeing Skiles off, Chen Yu called over to Nelson and told a few of the veterans who had rested enough to get up and continue training.

Robinson clutched his chest, an unbearable expression on his face. "No way. I’m about to die."

"Don’t worry, you’re not going to die," Chen Yu said with a smile as he walked over.

’This guy smokes weed. His personal life is probably a mess, and his physical condition is already pretty bad.’

Robinson’s expression changed. He got up with a pained look on his face. ’A demon. This guy is a demon.’

Just training their physical conditioning wasn’t enough; they also had basketball skills to work on.

This was something he had learned from Nelson.

The closer the body was to its limit, the more effective skill training became.

In Nelson’s words, the difference between an all-star and a regular player was their stability under physical exhaustion.

Chen Yu silently stared at the system.

Under the [Sports Training] section, his experience points were constantly jumping, and quickly at that.

Chen Yu guessed that perhaps every different type of training he conducted added experience points.

Halfway through, the experience bar filled up twice.

One time, he got nothing. The other time, however, he received a "Bronze Level Training Effect."

Chen Yu noticed the difference: it had changed from a "Treatment Effect" to a "Training Effect."

Chen Yu tried to use it.

He discovered it couldn’t be used on everyone at once, only on a single individual.

For example, while J Kidd was doing his balance ball training, Chen Yu used it on him.

Use successful.

But Chen Yu didn’t see any particular change.

’The change must be very subtle,’ he surmised. ’After all, training is a cumulative process.’

’If that’s the case, then it makes sense why the experience points are jumping so fast.’

’In medicine, a single surgery only adds a few experience points. The difficulty of accumulating a full bar is completely different, so the final effect is also heaven-defying.’

As Nelson blew the whistle, the training session ended.

Without exception, everyone was collapsed on the floor.

Never mind veterans like Robinson; even the younger players like Marion, who used to complete their training with ease, were floored.

But today, they were all completely wiped out.

"Now I finally know what it feels like to be trained to death," Marion muttered, lying on the floor.

Beside him, Charalidis gave a weak wave of his hand, not wanting to move at all.

"Everyone up. It’s not over yet," Chen Yu’s voice rang out again.

To the players’ ears, it was no less than the whisper of a demon.

Nelson and a few others also came forward, ushering everyone into the physical therapy room.

First, the ice baths.

This would help quickly clear out the lactic acid built up in their bodies.

Chen Yu also considered whether he should mention getting a cryo-chamber or something similar to Brian.

Or perhaps some specialized medical equipment, like using liquid nitrogen to quickly relieve athletic fatigue.

Chen Yu personally supervised.

Each person’s physical condition was different, so they had to soak for different lengths of time.

Then came the massages.

There was no need for a "Treatment Effect"; the bonus from his skill alone was enough.

’Actually,’ Chen Yu had been wondering, ’how can I continue to raise my skill level?’

’Basic Level is 5%, so Middle Level might be 10%, High Level 15%, and an even higher level 20%?’

’If it gets to 20%, the skill bonus alone would be equivalent to a Treatment Effect.’

But Chen Yu couldn’t figure out how to level it up.

’I’m already very proficient with all the techniques.’

’Is it just a matter of accumulating reps? Like ten thousand times, or a hundred thousand times?’

’If that’s the case, then this thing is really just manual labor.’

A moment ago, everyone had been complaining they were on the verge of death from training. But as soon as Chen Yu put his hands on them, the entire physical therapy room filled with an unending chorus of satisfied groans.

"I feel like I’m alive again."

Marion got up and moved his body around. The fatigue from before was completely gone.

Now he had only one feeling: hunger!

Beside him, Tony Delk’s stomach let out an embarrassing growl.

"Those who are done can go eat. Remember to follow Melissa’s instructions," Chen Yu shouted again.

Marion and a few others couldn’t wait and rushed toward the cafeteria. They had never felt this hungry after a training session.

Inside the cafeteria, lunch was ready. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮

Due to differing dietary habits and tastes, each player’s lunch was specially prepared and arranged on a separate tray.

Marion took his tray and immediately noticed an extra cup of coffee.

"Thanks, but I don’t drink coffee," Marion said, handing it back.

But Melissa just smiled and pushed it back to him. "It’s not coffee, it’s tea."

Marion twitched his nose. When he had first walked into the cafeteria, he’d noticed a bitter smell.

He shook his head again. "I don’t drink tea, either."

He only drank plain water and juice.

Melissa was still smiling. "This is a tea Chen prepared for you all. Everyone has to drink it."

Marion’s expression changed.

’Chen Yu again.’

After weighing his options, Marion silently placed the cup back on his tray.

"Oh, and no spitting it out," Melissa added with another smile.
