Spoiled by the CEO after amnesia!-Chapter 76 - 74 Deadly Soul Chase Call
Jiayi saw the person in the car and was startled, "Xue, Xue Jingchuan? What are you doing here?"
The last time they met was at the Huanglong Mountain hunting ground.
After that farewell, there was no opportunity to meet again.
Unexpectedly, their next encounter would be on Suwang Island.
Perhaps it was the feeling of encountering an old acquaintance in a foreign land, coupled with her current despondent mood, that sparked a sincere sense of closeness to Xue Jingchuan at this moment.
"I came to Southeast Asia to shoot a film, just wrapped up, and took the opportunity to holiday on Suwang Island. Are you here with Huo Zhenyang?" Xue Jingchuan hadn’t expected to run into her, and his tone was very cheerful.
Jiayi hemmed and hawed for a moment, then hummed in affirmation.
Xue Jingchuan glanced at the large and small bags hanging from her hand, "Why are you shopping alone? Where’s Huo Zhenyang?"
"We came to Suwang Island on company business; he’s gone to the branch office to keep busy," she didn’t want to let that man disturb her hard-earned peaceful state of mind and was reluctant to mention more.
Xue Jingchuan had also heard that soon after Huo Zhenyang brought Jiayi back, he arranged for her to enter one of the group’s subsidiary companies.
He nodded, smiling, "Do you want me to take you back?"
"No need," Jiayi immediately blurted out a refusal.
Xue Jingchuan’s brows curved, puzzled at her reaction but didn’t inquire further, "It’s time for dinner, have you eaten yet?"
Jiayi shook her head, "Not yet, I was just about to look for a restaurant."
"You’re in luck, running into me. I often come to Suwang Island for holidays. I’m familiar with all the restaurants around here, come on, I’ll take you to dinner." Xue Jingchuan waved his hand, gesturing for her to get in the car.
After a moment’s hesitation, Jiayi didn’t ponder for long before she walked around the car and got into the front passenger seat.
The sports car’s engine started, and they sped towards the restaurant like the wind.
Xue Jingchuan took Jiayi to a locally very famous seafood restaurant.
It was clear that Xue Jingchuan, the domestic idol with a charming reputation, was also very popular in Southeast Asia.
As soon as they entered the restaurant, many local fans came forward to eagerly request photos as keepsakes.
However, Xue Jingchuan’s connections on Suwang Island were indeed impressive. The restaurant owner showed great respect, not only personally helped to send away a group of fans but also specially freed up a quiet private booth for the two to enjoy.
After the meal, the sky had darkened.
"Ready to go?" After resting for a while, Xue Jingchuan asked Jiayi.
Why is it that happy times are always so fleeting?
Jiayi stopped herself midway through speaking and lingered in her seat, showing no desire to get up and was slow to pick up her bags.
Xue Jingchuan had actually noticed some clues; even if Huo Zhenyang was too busy with work to be there today, he would have arranged for someone to escort her shopping.
As far as he knew about Huo Zhenyang’s character, he would never let his woman go shopping alone no matter what.
Seeing her reluctance to return, Xue Jingchuan grew even more certain.
"Jiayi, have you had an argument with Huo Zhenyang?" he ventured.
Jiayi’s head shot up, "No."
An argument? Was she qualified to argue with him? Did she have the audacity to argue with him?
At least Mu Qingran had the title of an ex-fiancée.
What was she? That man’s fake girlfriend?
A self-mocking smile touched her red lips.
Noticing her expression, Xue Jingchuan was basically certain but did not press further; he stood up and stretched out his hand, "Come on, I’ll take you to clear your head."
Jiayi didn’t hesitate for long, exhaled, curved her lips, and reached out to hold his palm.
The two left the restaurant and got into the car.
Xue Jingchuan opened the convertible’s top, and the car raced through the night wind at over a hundred miles per hour. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
From the city to the seaside, the evening breeze had blown away Jiayi’s bad mood.
Finally, the sports car slowed down, making left and right turns along the road, and stopped in front of a neon-lit storefront.
Snatches of music with varying pitches floated out of the shop now and then, some gentle, some lyrical, and some spirited.
"Where is this?" Jiayi asked in surprise.
"KTV, come on, let’s go sing. When I’m in a bad mood, I love to go to the recording studio and belt out a few songs," Xue Jingchuan said, his peach blossom eyes smiling.
Jiayi’s throat felt a bit dry, and she didn’t know how to thank him, "Having you accompany me so late, I really feel bad about it."
Xue Jingchuan, after all, was a big star who was usually held in high regard, flanked by assistants and nannies, and surrounded by fans. Today, he had accompanied her to dinner and to unwind, even specifically taking her out to sing, and she felt a little embarrassed.
"So, do you want me to drive you back?" Xue Jingchuan asked, feigning displeasure as he raised an eyebrow.
Jiayi stuck out her tongue and got out of the car.
Once inside the KTV, Jiayi chose songs on a small computer.
Xue Jingchuan, on the other hand, sat on the sofa to the side, stretching out his long legs stylishly, one arm resting on the armrest, holding a premixed cocktail, sipping leisurely.
After selecting several songs, the LED big screen started to display music video scenes.
On this emotionally complex evening, holding the microphone, Jiayi thickened her face and became a mic hog for a while.
Some songs she truly couldn’t sing at all, but she belted them out just to vent, humming along off-key to the rhythm, which made Xue Jingchuan laugh beside her.
Jiayi knew that Xue Jingchuan had released several albums and won many music awards. His singing was leagues better than hers, so of course, he would laugh when he heard her sing.
But then again, she had already made a fool of herself.
Despite blushing, she continued to belt out the songs.
As one song ended, Jiayi realized that her phone in her pants pocket was vibrating.
She suspected who it was, hesitated a moment, but ultimately still pulled it out.
As expected, the screen showed Huo Zhenyang’s number.
After hesitating for three seconds, she slid her index finger across the screen and hung up.
Looking at her phone again, she noticed several missed calls, all from his insistent calls.
Perhaps she hadn’t heard them over the loud singing earlier.
Given the domineering nature of that man, he’s probably turning purple with rage, right?
She snorted. Serves him right.
Xue Jingchuan saw Jiayi’s action of answering the phone, "What’s up, was that a call from Huo Zhenyang?"
She murmured a confirmation, as quiet as a mosquito, just when her phone started to ring persistently again.
If she didn’t answer, that man might just explode her phone.
She sighed helplessly and slid to the answer button.
"Where are you?" On the other end of the line, the man’s voice was a chilling interrogation.
Instinctively, she covered the microphone, not wanting the sound from within the private room to carry over, "I’m fine, outside, I’ll head back later."
"Why did you leave without saying anything, and why aren’t you answering your calls? Tell me where you are, I’m coming to pick you up." The man’s tone was unyielding, chilling to the bone.
What right did he have to question her?
He had brought his ex-fiancée back to stay, and then... he had gone to Mu Qingran’s room last night. She hadn’t even mentioned that!
Now she just wanted to go out to clear her mind and have some quiet, and even that wasn’t allowed?
She mustered her courage, "Anyway, I’m fine, that’s it, I’m hanging up."
With a snap, she gritted her teeth, ended the call, and then turned off her phone.
"What exactly happened between you two?" Xue Jingchuan quietly observed and frowned slightly.
