Chapter 645: Chapter 625 Accompany Me to Sleep

Jiayi’s mind stirred.

"Rest assured. My promise to you will not change," he said as he let go of her delicate hand, stepped back two paces with his tall, upright figure, and his gaze regained its clarity.

A weight lifted from Jiayi’s heart when she understood he had agreed to her request. She was about to say more when she heard the distinct sound of footsteps outside the door and the servant’s respectful voice:

"Mr. Huo is coming up."

"Hmm," came the familiar, restrained, and magnetic deep voice of the man.

Then there was the click of the presidential suite’s door being unlocked.

Following that, the man’s footsteps, as he stepped on the carpet and walked inside, grew increasingly near.

Nie Yixiao’s expression changed.

Jiayi panicked as well. Nie Yixiao was in the study at the moment. If he went out, he would definitely run straight into him.

Given Huo Zhenyang’s vigilance, if he saw Nie Yixiao running to the study, he would surely check his computer and important personal items. If he found anything upon checking, he wouldn’t let Nie Yixiao off.

The matter was already settled; she had convinced Nie Yixiao. Why stir up more trouble?

And what if—he suspected that she was in cahoots with Nie Yixiao? With that man’s extremely suspicious and imperious nature, it was a real possibility! Wouldn’t she be unjustly accused then?

She lowered her voice and pointed to a terrace outside the study, signaling him to hide there for a while. She would distract Huo Zhenyang, and then Nie Yixiao could take the chance to leave.

Nie Yixiao did not give it much thought and quickly stepped out onto the terrace, pulling the curtains closed behind him.

The footsteps were imminent, as if right by the ear.

Jiayi had no chance to leave the study and instead turned around to sit behind the desk. She turned on his computer, took the mouse in hand, and began moving it lightly, feigning nonchalance.

Seeming to notice movement in the study, Huo Zhenyang walked toward it and stopped dead in his tracks at the doorway when he saw a familiar petite figure—she had actually come to the presidential suite.

"What are you doing?"

Jiayi looked up, met the gaze of the man at the doorway of the study. His tall, imposing figure was overpowering, his face as flawless as fine jade, with sharply defined, cold features, and his majestic brows still held a trace of displeasure.

She masked her nervousness with an air of boredom, "It’s so boring over in the dressing room, and since you didn’t let me go down to entertain the guests, I could only come here to surf the internet to pass the time."

He surveyed the study and then his gaze fell on the computer, his eyes betraying suspicion, "Surfing the internet?"

Ever since the journey to the hotel, hadn’t she been avoiding even speaking to him?

Knowing he would come to rest in the presidential suite, given her nature, shouldn’t she have avoided him at all costs? Why would she come here to surf the internet?

"What a computer. It even needs a password, and after trying for so long it’s still incorrect. So boring." Sensing his doubt, she raised her voice slightly, grumbling to divert his attention. She twisted her delicate brows into a frown, showing impatience as she lightly knocked the wireless mouse twice. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂

His eyes moved ever so slightly, and he walked over, glancing at the computer screen which was on the password input interface. His gaze was as vigilant and dark as a hawk’s.

Seeing the grimness on his face, she realized that the computer might indeed contain something important to him. She pouted and said, "Forget it, I won’t use it. It’s just a computer, there’s no need to be so secretive." With that, she prepared to stand up, planning to lead him out and then find a way to lure him into the bedroom. This would give Nie Yixiao a chance to leave.

Before she could stand, Huo Zhenyang swiftly leaned over, pushed her back down, and then typed a sequence of numbers on the keyboard.

The computer screen swooshed on, and the desktop appeared before her eyes.

"Don’t go on any messy websites," he instructed lightly, loosening his collar and stepping out of the study. In front of a mirror outside, he took off his jacket.

She hadn’t expected him to let her use his personal computer, which was very important to him, and her cheeks flushed red again, "You’re the one who goes on messy websites."

However, there was a problem—

It seemed he wasn’t planning to rest in the bedroom any time soon. He was right outside the study, which meant Nie Yixiao couldn’t leave.

Her mind racing, she quickly shut down the computer and left the study.

"Weren’t you going to use the internet?" he asked, glancing at her from the mirror as he stood in front of it.

"Where is Zaizai?" she asked casually, thinking of a reason to get him inside while she spoke.

"Downstairs in the banquet hall, with your mom and dad."

"Oh... can you tell someone to relay a message to mom? Let him eat fewer sweets and also not drink too much soda. He’s almost turning into a little fat pig... Mom spoils him too much. Every time he wants something to eat, she never stops him."

He felt an inexplicable strangeness crease his brows as he turned to look at her.

Considering they were still in a cold war, her words seemed a bit too plentiful.

The small woman had changed out of her wedding dress and was now wearing a red bridal gown that accentuated her figure. The slim design and the snug fabric highlighted her willowy waist and tender arms. Her slightly curled black hair cascaded around her snow-white neck like clouds, and her bright, delicate red lips resembled rosebuds that were half-open, stirring a man’s blood. Her almond-like crystal eyes flickered, showing not much else.

She dared not hold his gaze for too long, afraid that he would see something.

But he had already taken a few steps toward her, lifting her chin to look into her eyes intently, "Zaizai is playing with the son of Congressman Lee and the young miss of Director Cheng’s family."

Her plan to lure him out had failed... Her breath hitched as she saw the intensity in his eyes, realizing he had spotted something amiss. Without thinking, she blurted out, "What about you..."

His eyebrows raised in confusion as he scrutinized her.

She took a deep breath, "Are you still angry?"

He hadn’t expected her to broach the subject herself. His brows lifted, and he chuckled unexpectedly, "Are you trying to make up with me now? Little Kitten."

She bit her lip softly, "I don’t want to fight with you. No matter what, today is our official wedding."

Hearing her concession was certainly pleasant, but there was something unsettling that he couldn’t quite place. He released her chin, "Go rest. You don’t need to come downstairs anymore today. The assistants will take care of the guests around the clock. Zaizai and your parents’ room is just one floor below us. Your mom will take him to sleep later."

Seeing him turn towards the study, she panicked and quickly called out, "What about you? Aren’t you going to rest?"

"There’s some office work to deal with. I’ll rest later." Sensing her strong resistance, his suspicions grew stronger. He paused, his gaze on her seeming more doubtful.

Her heart felt like it was about to jump out of her chest, certain that if he went back into the study, he would definitely discover something. Secretly gritting her teeth, she could no longer care about anything else and took a few steps forward:

"We’re getting married today, and you still have office work to do?"

His eyes sparked with a teasing air, "Speak your mind."

Suppressing her nervous blushing, she said, "Can’t you just come and sleep with me? On such an important day as our wedding, I don’t want to be alone and cold."
