Chapter 643: Chapter 623 Fainted

"He’s still downstairs personally hosting guests and will probably go to the presidential suite to rest later."

Jiayi nodded, "I understand."

Seeing that she seemed to have come to a decision, Fang Yao also felt somewhat relieved and stood up, "Then, I’ll go down first."

"Mm."

The spacious lounge fell silent after the door closed.

After a few minutes of silence, Jiayi exhaled.

Forget it, this time it seemed that she had provoked him first, so she decided to make a peace offering.

She walked out of the changing room, along the corridor, to the presidential suite at its end.

The young servant at the door saw the lady in the red dress coming over and said with utmost respect, "Madam, Mr. Huo is still entertaining guests downstairs, and it will likely be over two hours before he comes up."

"I know, it’s okay, give me the room card, I’ll wait for him in the room. You can go."

"Yes, Mrs. Huo." The servant, seeing that Jiayi wanted to use the suite, quickly handed over the room card and then left first.

A "ding" sounded as the door to the presidential suite opened.

Jiayi was about to enter when she heard a voice from behind, "Jiayi."

She turned around in surprise, "Brother Yixiao, why did you come up?"

Nie Yixiao had just emerged from the VIP elevator without his two subordinates, seemingly wanting some alone time with her. Now, with his hands in his pockets, he walked towards her leisurely, "I’m leaving tomorrow, and I wanted to say goodbye."

Her gaze shifted slightly, something in her heart stirred; tomorrow he would be gone.

She didn’t know what sort of feeling was lingering in her heart as she blurted out, "Let’s talk inside."

"Aren’t you afraid that Huo will be unhappy again?" He looked at her steadily.

Initially, Jiayi had some concerns about inviting him in, but his comment only made her more resolute. She frowned, "We’re just talking openly and honestly, what’s there to be unhappy about?"

Nie Yixiao followed her into the presidential suite.

The two sat opposite each other on the sofa in the outer living room.

With a farewell imminent, they sat in silence for a long time, the air heavy with stillness.

Nie Yixiao gazed quietly at her face; even though she had lipstick on, it couldn’t hide the slight swelling of her lips from being kissed by a man for hours.

She noticed his gaze fixed on her lips and felt somewhat embarrassed.

Nie Yixiao tactfully broke the silence, "Jiayi, I’m a bit thirsty, how about you pour me a glass of water?"

Jiayi, grateful for the opportunity, exhaled in relief, "Mm, have a seat." She said, moving towards the tea table by her side.

The lounge featured an antique Ming Dynasty rosewood handcrafted tea table, upon which sat a set of blue and white porcelain tea ware from the Ming era’s Jingdezhen.

Jiayi brewed two cups of tea and walked over to Nie Yixiao, handing one to him.

"Brother Yixiao." Jiayi extended a cup of tea to him. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶

A faint fragrance filled the air, and Nie Yixiao’s eyes seemed to glaze over. He did not take the cup from her hand; instead, his lips curved into a wistful smile, "I don’t know if I’ll have the chance to hear you call me that after today."

Jiayi’s heart felt a pang of sympathy. Today was her wedding, and it was also the formal farewell to her relationships of the past.

Nie Yixiao regained his spirits, lifted his hand to take the cup from her, but perhaps due to his distraction, his hand tilted.

Jiayi, too, was lost in thought and did not grip the cup firmly; it tilted, and the fragrant tea spilled onto Nie Yixiao’s trousers, wetting an edge.

Jiayi snapped back to reality and hurriedly said, "I’ll get you some tissue."

Seeing her flustered state, Nie Yixiao smiled, "You’re still the same as when you were a child."

Jiayi’s expression shifted slightly, and she turned to fetch a dry towel from the restroom. Upon returning to the lounge, she handed it to Nie Yixiao.

Nie Yixiao wiped the water stains off his trousers before they both sat down again.

Perhaps the little accident of spilling the tea had finally livened up the atmosphere somewhat.

Having shed the awkwardness, they drank tea and chatted occasionally.

"If there was no Huo Zhenyang, would you consider starting over with me?" His eyes flashed as he suddenly threw out the question.

Jiayi was taken aback by the question.

"Don’t be nervous, Jiayi," he said with a soft smile spreading across his lips, warming her heart just as before. "I’m just asking, that’s all."

This very question, after re-encountering Nie Yixiao, she had also asked herself, and she had to admit there was a real possibility she would.

More than a decade of feelings couldn’t be easily erased.

Her childhood and girlhood had all been witnessed by this man; the most frequent dream she had was of becoming his bride.

Back in the days when Nie Yixiao was with Chu Xinyu, although Jiayi hated him, deep down she still hoped he would change his mind and come back to her.

Until four years ago, when the truth surfaced, she learned that Nie Yixiao wasn’t the heartbreaker she thought he was, and at that moment, most of her resentment towards him had already dissipated.

Without Huo Zhenyang, it was indeed possible she might have been with Nie Yixiao.

But—

It was all just hypothetical.

The problem was, her life already bore a dominating imprint determined to erase all marks of her past without leaving a trace.

Nie Yixiao was destined to become the untouchable moonlight in her life, always to be looked up at, but no longer to be touched.

Her prolonged silence, however, filled Nie Yixiao’s lips with delight, as he understood her answer.

If there were no Huo Zhenyang, there was a possibility between him and her.

He hadn’t lost; he had simply mistimed their opportunity.

Unbeknownst to them, time slipped by, and the night grew thicker.

Seeing Jiayi steal glances at the wall clock with the corner of her eye, Nie Yixiao guessed her thoughts and spoke with a light chuckle, "Is Huo about to come upstairs?"

Jiayi could only nod embarrassedly.

It wasn’t that she was in a rush to get Nie Yixiao to leave, but that man’s possessiveness and jealousy were not to be underestimated—he had already been unhappy at the church earlier when she spoke a few more words with Nie Yixiao, and now seeing her say goodbye to Nie Yixiao would surely infuriate him even more.

Nie Yixiao set down his teacup, seemingly not wanting to put her in a difficult position, and stood up: "Jiayi, I’ll head downstairs first."

Jiayi stood up as well: "Brother Yixiao, let me walk you to the elevator..." She hadn’t finished her sentence when a wave of dizziness came over her, and her body swayed.

Nie Yixiao’s expression changed as he steadied her.

Jiayi tried to gather her strength and stand straight: "It’s nothing, I might just be dizzy from not eating all day."

In fact, she had felt a little dizzy while talking to Nie Yixiao, but she didn’t pay it much attention.

Since the wee hours of the morning, she had been busy with makeup and wearing the wedding dress, she hadn’t had a moment to eat.

It was only when she got to the hotel and had a moment during a makeup touch-up that Xia Tingxuan managed to send some bridesmaids with some fruit for her.

But afraid of smudging her makeup and having to go through the trouble again, she had only eaten a few bites.

With an empty stomach all day, it was no wonder she was feeling faint and weak now.

But Nie Yixiao was just staring at her, saying nothing.

"Brother Yixiao, you should go ahead," she said, not noticing the change in Nie Yixiao’s gaze as she tried to push him away, only to be shocked to find she had no strength.

With another attempt to support herself, it was as if all her strength had been drained, and she fainted.
