Chapter 625: Chapter 605: Are You Willing to Cooperate with Your Husband?

"No need." Jiayi didn’t linger and hurriedly walked out of the shop.

Ever since she started managing the F. Wang bridal shop, under Huo Zhenyang’s instructions, most of the time, drivers from Disheng would pick her up and drop her off.

She didn’t like having someone follow her around all day, always feeling like she was being watched by that man at all times.

These past two days, Huo Zhenyang hadn’t been home, and even when she left for the bridal shop today, that man hadn’t returned yet. She had fortunately managed to get some relief; she told the driver not to bother and instead took a taxi on her own.

Now, without a driver tailing her, it was just right—she didn’t need to explain anything.

Night had fallen, and the neon lights were twinkling.

As she walked to the curb, intending to hail a taxi, she saw a familiar black Bentley parked by the roadside. Seeing her come out, it slowly drove towards her.

The hand she had raised halfway paused mid-air and then dropped.

Huo Zhenyang was sitting in the driver’s seat, having come over personally.

He slightly lowered his head, and in the shroud of the night, his gaze was faintly indifferent but carried an indiscernible gleaming luster, "Get in."

"Why are you here?" she asked in surprise.

His voice was low and displeased, "Mr. Huo comes to pick up Mrs. Huo from work, is that strange?"

Her heart suddenly skipped a beat, as if she had completely plummeted back into reality.

Since their registration yesterday, almost forty-eight hours had passed.

Last night, he had matters to discuss with Ya Chen, so he had someone take her and Zaizai back to Disheng first, and then he didn’t return all night.

Today, George came back first during the day, saying that he had talked business with Ya Chen half the night, and this morning he had gone directly to the municipal office building to handle official duties.

She guessed that after being busy all day, he must have been very tired, probably having returned to Disheng to rest by now. Through the car window, she could even see the weariness mixed in his brows and eyes; yet, she didn’t expect that after a whole day, he would still come to pick her up.

The man in the Bentley, seeing she wasn’t moving, said, "Aren’t you planning to get in?"

"I..." Jiayi found an excuse, "I still have some things to do, I won’t go back yet."

Shadows of dissatisfaction flickered across half of the man’s face as if obscured by light and dark, "Didn’t you finish everything at the bridal shop?"

He had taken over the F. Wang shop to give to her so that on one hand, she would give up her work in the film crew, and on the other hand, because the bridal shop wasn’t very busy, typically quite leisurely.

It wasn’t to actually make her into a strong independent woman.

The way he looked at her was like interrogating a prisoner, stern and sharp.

Her heart panicked, and she quickly reacted by pulling out a dress design draft from her large tote bag, "These are the design drafts I finished these past few days. I’m planning to show them to Fang Yao for some feedback. She’s highly respected in the fashion design field, with much richer experience and qualifications than myself. I want her to give me some advice, and if possible, start making a prototype. Managing a bridal shop, I should learn more, right? If you don’t believe me, you can call Fang Yao later."

Saying this, her voice became softer and softer, suddenly feeling as if she was acting coquettish towards him. She immediately fell silent, like a soldier awaiting the commander’s review.

Perhaps because of Ya Chen’s request yesterday, she seemed unable to stand up to Huo Zhenyang as fiercely as before, her attitude unconsciously becoming much gentler.

Even now, she hadn’t fully recovered her senses; the safety of the political situation in a whole country at this moment was indeed closely related to him, even to the point of being held in the palm of his hand.

She had never known that his ambition wasn’t limited to the business interests of China.

After hearing her explanation, he didn’t speak, his gaze idly scanned every inch of her expression.

His look made her inexplicably anxious, and she worried that Anya had already gone; summoning her courage, she said, "We’re already married, can’t you grant me this bit of freedom?"

Finally, Huo Zhenyang lifted his eyelids, his eyes piercing hers: "Granting you freedom is fine; it’s not to let you keep things from me."

She knew that every minute detail of hers could not escape his probing.

A man involved in both business and politics could not fail to notice an unusually nervous young woman’s body language.

Jiayi’s heart skipped a beat as she looked at him.

He became even more convinced of his guess and simply said, "Speak."

Her palms sweating, she finally chose to trust him, opened the car door, and took the passenger seat. When she began to speak, her voice was very uneasy: "Anya just called me; she asked to meet at the outdoor cafe on Jelly Street."

Huo Zhenyang’s brows knitted slightly; the other party could not possibly have let Liang Anya go without reason — that meant there was only one reason: they released Liang Anya, wanting to use her to accomplish something.

"Anya asked me if Ya Chen had come to China, and she asked about Ya Chen’s whereabouts. Someone must be threatening her. It’s probably—people from A Country want to know Ya Chen’s whereabouts." She lifted her head to look at him: "No matter what, I need to go see her now. Don’t follow me; if they are following Anya and see you, they might become enraged and harm her. Don’t worry, I won’t mess up your plan; I absolutely won’t tell Anya where Ya Chen is."

His expression lightened, a clear understanding in his heart: "Tell her."

Jiayi was startled: "What?"

"Tell Liang Anya where Ya Chen is staying," he said, his voice smooth, betraying no emotion.

She saw the determination in his eyes, as if she understood his intention: "You want to lure the other side into a trap?" 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖

He just smiled silently, gazing at her: "Willing to cooperate with your husband?"

Her cheeks flushed, she avoided his gaze, and a worry surfaced: "Wouldn’t this endanger Anya?"

He spoke lightly: "Drawing the other side out sooner might help Anya come back earlier. Otherwise, they’ll keep clutching her in their palm."

Jiayi took a breath and nodded.

Huo Zhenyang lifted her chin, holding her gaze: "If people from A Country really are watching Liang Anya from the shadows, they’ll likely monitor every word of your conversation. Remember not to give yourself away when you speak."

A wave of heat rolled up her neck, and she pouted: "I know." With that, she pushed his hand away, opened the car door, and hurried out of the car.

Watching Jiayi get out of the car, Huo Zhenyang picked up his phone and gave a few instructions. As he spoke, his gaze never left the little woman hailing a taxi, getting in, and disappearing from sight.

Putting down the phone, he stepped on the gas and sped off.

Twenty minutes later, the speed of the taxi slowed down as it reached the bustling Jelly Street.

At the crossroads, there was an open-air cafe; Jiayi swung open the door, her figure blending into the endless stream of people. She walked into the coffee place, looking around for Liang Anya.

At one point, someone pulled her arm, dragging her to the side, and she reacted with both alarm and happiness: "Anya!"

The Anya in front of her seemed somewhat distraught, but otherwise, she looked no different from before she disappeared and wasn’t injured, which relieved Jiayi somewhat.

Liang Anya covered her mouth, holding back the excitement, and after quickly glancing around, she whispered, "You didn’t tell Mr. Huo, did you?"
