Spoiled by the CEO after amnesia!-Chapter 483 - 481: How Old is the Child?
Yet now, she was treating Xiaoyi as a stranger—
It was as if a voice at the bottom of her heart was saying, "Su Yan, don’t speak, you mustn’t speak. Once you do, Mr. Huo and Xiaoyi will truly get back together..."
In America these past few years, Su Yan had strived to establish a foothold for the Huo Family business, pouring her heart into it, never entertaining the pursuit of men. Everyone knew that this elegant Chief Secretary was waiting for someone.
Perhaps, from the first glimpse of that man, majestic like a king, she was doomed to fall.
Su Yan clenched her fists, feeling her palms sweaty, suddenly filled with guilt...
For the sake of a man, she had treated her close friend this way.
It was Xiaoyi who had sent her to America, Xiaoyi who had given her the opportunity to get close to Mr. Huo. She never imagined that one day she would betray Xiaoyi and snatch away her man.
She had once despised such people; even back in Jin University, she had scolded Ye Shiman for bullying Xiaoyi just because of Shangguan Yao, saying, "For a man, is it worth it?!"
But now, she had become the very person she once looked down upon.
She thought about confessing numerous times, but each time Su Yan swallowed her words back down. In the end, she didn’t speak, dazedly getting into the car.
The car drove on, speeding toward Disheng.
As Ade drove, he noticed Su Yan’s pale face and the sweat beads on her forehead and couldn’t help asking, "Miss Su, what’s wrong?"
Su Yan quickly gathered her thoughts and forced a smile, "I haven’t gotten over the jet lag, and I guess I’m a bit airsick."
Ade understood and smiled again, casually saying, "Miss Su, over the years in America, you’ve always accompanied the Boss on trips at home and abroad, sometimes taking several return flights in a week. How could you get airsick?"
Su Yan’s face changed slightly, as if she was a thief caught red-handed, unable to speak for a long moment.
Seeing her acting so unusually today, utterly unlike her usual calm self, Ade took it as her truly feeling unwell from airsickness and said no more.
After a while, Su Yan initiated conversation, "Is Mr. Huo at the villa now?"
"Boss has been busy with the campaign recently. To facilitate meetings, he booked a room with the campaign team at the hotel and hasn’t been back to Disheng for several days. However, I’ve called the Boss, and he knows you’ve arrived; he will probably come back today."
Ade spoke as he drove.
"Oh." Upon hearing this, Su Yan’s complexion improved slightly, with a trace of a smile appearing on her lips.
Through the rearview mirror, Jiayi noticed the change in Su Yan’s expression.
Just a moment ago, Su Yan was pale and sweating due to airsickness.
The next moment, after hearing Mr. Huo’s name, her countenance relaxed.
This Miss Su, as Ade had said, must have a profound relationship with Mr. Huo, and perhaps their relationship was not merely that of a subordinate and a superior?
Could it be that her heart belonged to her own boss? After all, secretaries and bosses spend everyday together. It’s very common for emotions to grow over time, and for a secretary to fall for her boss.
She finally understood why Huishao insisted on having her and Ade pick up Miss Su.
Huishao was always on guard against her, fearing she might have something with Mr. Huo. Now that Su Yan had arrived, it served as a reminder to her.
Suddenly, she recalled the morning after that night at the villa, when Huishao chastised her, saying there was someone more suitable for Mr. Huo than herself. That person—was it Su Yan?
Jiayi couldn’t help but glance at Su Yan again in the mirror.
Elegant and intellectual, delicate and gentle; more importantly, she was highly capable. She was indispensable to that man both in public and private affairs.
Such a woman would probably be liked by any man, right?
Although the skies were clear and the sun shone brightly outside the car window, suddenly, it seemed to grow much darker.
Jiayi curled her slender fingers, unable to stop the ups and downs of her emotions; she bit her lower lip to fight off this inexplicable feeling of discomfort.
—
They arrived at the Disheng villa.
Housekeeper Hui had long been waiting for Su Yan at the villa gate and hurried over to greet her, visibly excited, "Miss Su, you have finally arrived..."
Su Yan hummed in response and pulled Housekeeper Hui aside to ask a few questions about Mr. Huo’s public duties and health in China over the past few months.
After Housekeeper Hui finished reporting, her gaze fell on Jiayi, and her brows furrowed involuntarily, "Why haven’t you gone up yet? Weren’t you told to tidy up the guest room as soon as you returned? Hurry and prepare the room for Miss Su; she must be exhausted after such a long flight, and instead you just stand there doing nothing?"
Seeing that the two were chatting merrily and there was no hurry, Jiayi had intended to finish her current tasks before heading up, but upon Housekeeper Hui’s urging, she set aside what she was doing and prepared to go upstairs. However, she heard Su Yan’s gentle voice, "Housekeeper Hui, there’s no rush; let Jiayi take it one step at a time."
She then turned her head and looked at Jiayi, "It’s okay, go on with what you’re doing, take your time."
Jiayi, seeing her very gentle attitude, responded with a grateful smile and went upstairs.
"Miss Su, I don’t understand why you are so nice to her," Housekeeper Hui clucked her tongue.
Su Yan didn’t speak, but a gleam flitted across her eyes.
She also didn’t understand why she was so kind to Jiayi. Was it because of guilt?
Or was it because she wanted to temporarily placate her, to stabilize her...?
Sooner or later, the story of Jiayi’s reunion with Mr. Huo would probably reach the old man.
Without a word, she patted Housekeeper Hui’s hand and entered the villa.
By the afternoon, the upstairs guest room had been neatly arranged.
Jiayi called Su Yan from upstairs, "Miss Su, the room is ready; you can come in and rest at any time."
Su Yan nodded, went upstairs, and as Jiayi was about to go down, stopped her, "Thank you for your hard work."
Jiayi paused, then offered a slight smile, "It’s nothing."
"Do you mind chatting with me for a bit?" Su Yan’s tone was still very friendly.
Jiayi paused.
Su Yan explained, "I want to understand Mr. Huo’s current situation in China, you know, I’ve just returned to the country, and I’m not clear about anything, yet I am Mr. Huo’s personal assistant."
Jiayi hesitated for a few seconds, then nodded.
The two entered the guest room and sat on the couch.
Su Yan personally brewed a pot of jasmine tea.
The jasmine flowers churned in the boiling water, then slowly swelled up one by one inside the glass teapot, growing plump and rich.
"Housekeeper Hui mentioned you’re not actually one of the servants here, but you came to work off a debt because your son scratched Mr. Huo’s car, is that right?"
While holding the teapot, Su Yan poured jasmine tea for both Jiayi and herself.
The clean fragrance of jasmine quickly permeated the bedroom.
Jiayi nodded, there was nothing to hide.
"You look very young; I’m surprised you already have a child. How old is the child?" Su Yan’s tone seemed casual.
Over the years, everyone who learned she had a child asked the same question; Jiayi wasn’t surprised and had gotten used to it, "He’s nearly four years old."
Four years old...
Mr. Huo had gone to America for surgery four years ago.
So, that was the year Xiaoyi parted from Mr. Huo?
