Chapter 2123: Tiny Changes To The Crimson Soul Tablet

In the void beyond the Six Essence Heavenly Field, after Shang Xia’s departure, the Star Origin Lord’s clone stood motionless for a long time, as still as a statue suspended in space.

After some time, ripples spread through the nearby void, and a figure slowly stepped out from within.

The Star Origin Lord’s clone, who had been standing motionless, turned his eyes slightly toward the newcomer, then quickly returned to his previous stillness.

“How long can this clone of yours hold together?” Seeing that the Star Origin Lord’s clone remained silent, the newcomer was the first to speak.

The Star Origin Lord’s clone slowly turned around but did not answer the question. Instead, he asked one of his own. “There are more and more people from the Illusory Sea of Stars appearing lately. Do you guys have another way to enter the Heaven Observation Star Region?”

The newcomer chuckled, choosing not to answer, and diverted the conversation instead. “That person just now... That was the Shang Xia who even you are wary of, wasn’t it? His aura is terrifying. His cultivation is clearly at the grand completion stage. Every move he made seemed to stir the stars themselves, and the martial intent he comprehended has already touched on the power of time of the Star River. Are you certain his path of cultivation is entirely self-created, and not some offshoot of the old Heaven Observation Sect’s legacy refined to new heights?”

The Star Origin Lord’s clone replied in a low, steady voice, “You were nearby just now. Couldn’t you tell for yourself?”

The other man laughed causally. “Your aura was too overwhelming. I didn’t want to disturb your meeting, so naturally I kept my distance.”

The clone cast another glance at him and snorted, “You could always catch up to him and test how strong he is yourself.”

The man forced a smile. “Better not. I’ve no wish to stir up unnecessary trouble. But to think you handed over the method for crafting the Starlight Curtain so easily... Surely you know that the Starlight Curtain, Ah, or rather, the Solar Sail is...”

The Star Origin Lord’s clone’s gaze suddenly turned razor-sharp. The man swallowed the rest of his sentence, an awkward smile flickering across his face.

“You’d better watch your mouth.” The Star Origin Lord’s clone said in a low voice, “Unless you wish to repeat the fate of the Heaven Observation Sect 1,000 years ago.”

With that, the clone vanished, leaving the other’s expression stiff and unpleasant.

The stranger, clearly a high-level cultivator from the Illusory Sea of Stars, murmured to himself while gazing in the direction of the Six Essence Heavenly Field, “Deliberately leaking the method of the Starlight Curtain’s creation... Is he trying to make the man pave the way for him, or is he planning to reap the rewards after?”

He chuckled softly, his voice fading into the void, ringing in the mind of the Star Origin Lord. “Don’t forget, if not for us, your Fate Star would’ve been discovered long ago.”

...

Back in the Essence Luxuriant Heavenly Field, Shang Xia handed the jade slip containing the recorded secret art of the creation of the Starlight Curtain over to Kou Chongxue for safekeeping.

He had already transcribed every detail within it himself and had even studied it carefully on the journey back.

“Do you think what he told you was true?” Kou Chongxue asked, frowning slightly after hearing the entire account.

“What he said was certainly true.” Shang Xia replied with certainty. “Of course, he definitely held something from us.”

“You mean regarding the purpose of the Starlight Curtain?” Kou Chongxue asked thoughtfully.

Shang Xia nodded. “The Star Origin Lord only said it could conceal and protect one’s Fate Star, but offered no comment on any other uses. I have a feeling it has to be related to the ascension to the Eighth Order!” He paused before adding, “Even if not directly, it’s certainly linked in some way!”

Though Shang Xia called it merely intuition, Kou Chongxue didn’t question him. After all, even if it were solely meant to guard one’s Fate Star, that alone made it worth creating.

Even if Kou Chongxue knew from Shang Xia that he possessed more than one Fate Star and if one were destroyed, it wouldn’t be fatal to him, it would still prove useful.

“In that case...” Kou Chongxue muttered, “We will prepare to weave Starlight Yarn. Gather all rank seven Star Devouring Silk produced in recent years that haven’t already been used. If that still isn’t enough, we’ll have to wait a few more years.”

Shang Xia nodded. “I’ve already reviewed the crafting method. The Star Devouring Silk we’ve collected so far is indeed insufficient, but the breeding of rank seven Star Devouring Silkworms has become systematized now. Each year yields a steady output. In another year or two, we’ll have enough.”

“Good.” Kou Chongxue nodded. “Then from now on, set aside all new silk production over the next couple of years exclusively fir ut.”

Shang Xia smiled. “Then I’ll take advantage of this time to make a trip to the Flood Star Region.”

“Flood Star Region?” Kou Chongxue asked. “You wish to enter the Lightning Prison to continue gathering origin qi from foreign Star Fields?”

“Yes. Among the eight forbidden regions of the Chaotic Sea of Stars’ eight Star Regions, nearly all are proven to connect to foreign Star Fields. I’ve already gathered the origin qi of five such Star Fields. If all goes well in the Lightning Prison, only two will remain, the Essence World Ruins in the Crowned Star Region, and the Pagoda Forest in the Aligned Star Region.”

Shang Xia didn’t remain too long in the Essence Luxuriant Heavenly Field and Kou Chongxue knew that all of his focus was on preparing for a breakthrough to the Eighth Order.

Though the situation across the Heaven Observation Star Region was delicate, Kou Chongxue believed that with his presence, they would still be secure.

Moreover, the Essence Luxuriant Heavenly Field was no longer alone. The likes of Sage Jin and Zhuo Gudao from the Essence Hong Heavenly Field and Mei Jingya of the fragment of the Essence Mu World would not sit idly by should they fall into danger.

After leaving the Essence Luxuriant Heavenly Field, Shang Xia passed by the fragment of the Essence Mu World and made a detour around the Void Mirage before quietly departing.

He traveled lightly once more, bringing no one along and he traveled on a specially made tiny Star Ship.

Only after leaving the Star Region did he sink his consciousness into the Crimson Soul Tablet to examine the newly revealed inscriptions upon it.

After receiving the Star Origin Lord’s secret art for crafting the Starlight Curtain, something new appeared on the tablet. It was also the reason he was so sure the Starlight Curtain was related to the ascension to the Eighth Order.

From the description on the Crimson Soul Tablet, he required a specific size, which was quiet different from what the Star Origin Lord had described.

The Star Origin Lord’s description was 99 x 33 feet, but the size described on the tablet was a nice tenfold smaller.

If Shang Xia were to follow the Star Origin Lord’s specifications, the Essence Luxuriant Heavenly Field’s current two-year stock of rank seven Star Devouring silks would be nowhere near enough. He would have to wait 10 or 20 more years at least.

And if such a massive treasure would be used to refine his Eight Trigrams Immortal Golden Pill... How big will the damn pill be? Would he even be able to swallow the pill that would be produced?
