Splitting the Heavens-2025.11.22
Shang Xia’s two newly obtained rank seven talisman inheritances were called the Heavenly Peak Suppression Talisman and the Winding Stream Diversion Talisman.
The Heavenly Peak Suppression Talisman came from survivors of the Essence Yue Heavenly Field. It had been discovered when Chu Jia and others organized their survivors during the reconstruction of the Azure Yue World.
This inheritance did not contain a physical talisman. Shang Xia could only estimate its nature and might from the records.
By his achievements in the dao of talismans, the talisman was difficult to complete, but seemed extremely powerful. Its main function lay in suppression, and its effectiveness depended on the strength and skill of the person who made it.
The reason was because a low-level Sage would find it nearly impossible to craft a talisman capable of suppressing a mid-level Sage!
According to Shang Xia, after he crafted the talisman, he would be able to easily suppress a low-level Sage. Even mid-level Sages could be suppressed for a short second even though they would eventually break free.
However, such a brief suppression could give their enemies enough time to act.
As for high-level Sages, Shang Xia had little confidence. Yet against someone like Gu Yi, he would at least be partially restrained.
No matter what, Gu Yi was a sixth star Sage.
For cultivators of even higher realms, there was little point in using the talisman. The strength of a rank seven talisman would be enough to surprise them, but it wouldn’t cause lasting damage.
As for the second talisman, the Winding Stream Diversion Talisman, it came from the Essence Zhen World. After Shang Xia and Kou Chongxue divided the world fragments, a native faction contributed the treasure.
They did not only offer the talisman inheritance but also their complete martial heritage and parts of the inheritance from other sects.
Because of that, Kou Chongxue personally promised them aid in establishing an Elysium in one of the Spirit Worlds, though their headquarters would remain in the Essence Luxuriant World.
The act set a precedent for newly integrated factions.
Though the name of the talisman sounded poetic, the Winding Stream Diversion Talisman possessed a brutally destructive might.
It had been modeled after the void currents by the Talisman Grandmasters of the Essence Zhen Heavenly Field. Once activated, it unleashed chaotic streams that corroded soul and flesh alike, enough to cause disaster even to careless rank Sages.
It was neither too difficult nor too easy to craft.
Speaking in terms of pure crafting technique, the talisman could be considered low-to-middle in terms of difficulty. Yet, it required a special ink made from the essence of the void currents, something few experts could get their hands on. After all, even Sages had to proceed cautiously in the void currents.
After studying it thoroughly, Shang Xia decided to craft the Winding Stream Diversion Talisman first.
The reason was simple. For others, harvesting the essence from the void currents might be a matter of weighing risks, but for him it was manageable. Besides, he planned to travel to the Flood Star Region to trace the source of the void currents anyway.
There was another reason to. Neither Shang Xia nor Kou Chongxue wished to drain their blood just to craft talismans.
Strictly speaking, the master craftsmen of the Tongyou Institution’s Talisman Hall were far from capable of producing rank seven talisman paper or talisman ink.
All the rank seven talisman paper Shang Xia got his hands on were either spoils of war, or traded with others. Either that or they only required simple processing as they were skin from high-level spiritual beasts or Star Beasts.
Those skin could be considered to be of the seventh rank already, and they were basically half complete talisman paper once processed.
The same went for talisman ink. Before Shang Xia and the Giant Ape King killed the rank seven bird emperor, the main ingredient of their talisman ink had been their own blood. Both he and Kou Chongxue, both powerful Sages, had taken turns bleeding themselves to be used as talisman ink. If news of it spread, no one would believe they were capable of something like that.
Now that a method existed to refine ink from the essence of the void currents, why not seize it?
During the war of the Essence Zhen World, Shang Xia managed to control a portion of the void currents in his battle against the Star Origin Lord. He already discovered traces of origin qi from the foreign Star Fields during the battle, but because he had been locked in combat, he was unable to quickly deal with them.
Though much of their essence had dissipated, he managed to seal a portion at the very end of the battle.
From it, he refined a batch of rank seven talisman ink.
Since his talisman ink was ready, he couldn’t wait to start the crafting process.
After running through the crafting process multiple times, he deduced it wouldn’t be too difficult. But just as he began... He was interrupted.
“This ink is highly corrosive to talisman brushes and talisman paper! Paper from rank seven beast emperors might be able to withstand it, but your brush will be heavily damaged during the process!”
Despite the warning, Shang Xia didn’t stop. It wasn’t because the Winding Stream Diversion Talisman was too important, but it was because he needed two more talismans to craft his rank seven Talisman Seed.
Once the Talisman Seed was complete, he would be able to gain another trump card at the level of a martial intent!
It was one of the only chances for anyone to obtain a second martial intent in their cultivation realm!
At Shang Xia’s current level, to create a rank seven Talisman Seed, he needed seven rank seven talismans.
In the past, he could already craft seven different talismans. They were the Myriad Tinted Cloud Talisman, the Star Origin Talisman, the Emberkindled Legacy Talisman, the Guardian-Ward Sword Talisman, the Origin Shattering World Talisman, the Golden Sun Talisman, and the most basic Formation Talisman.
The latest talisman he crafted was the Golden Sun Talisman, where he gained inspiration after observing the great stars in his Dipper Star Formation.
However, among the seven, the Formation Talisman was useless as it was the most basic talisman, while the Guardian-Ward Sword Talisman was little more than a tracking technique.
If he used them as part of his Talisman Seed, his martial intent would be greatly weakened.
He had long intended to replace them. However, rank seven talisman inheritances were few and far between, and those who had any would protect them with everything they had.
That was why he took so long to get his hands on the two of them.
Now that two new powerful talismans had fallen into his hands, he couldn’t wait to craft them to finally create his rank seven Talisman Seed!
