Chapter 46: Chapter 46—Round 2 Begins

The little injuries left on Cole healed little by little, resulting in him regaining more strength.

Instead of going to sleep like he had been doing previously, Cole spent the whole night absorbing Life energy.

Although he hadn’t felt a change in his physical strength for a while now, it might be as a result of being at the peak stage, but since he didn’t lose anything, he just continued.

The next morning came in the blink of an eye. Cole spent the whole night cultivating, resulting in him standing up completely refreshed.

All signs of his injuries were completely non-existent. He was back to full health.

Like he hadn’t even gotten any injuries. He couldn’t help but think back to the events of the previous day.

"I am still so weak compared to the truly privileged ones."

"Then I need to work harder," He said resolutely.

He picked himself up and got ready to leave and begin searching for opponents to gain points.

The day then began in full swing. Confidence and resolution were hanging heavily in the air.

Cole felt he was already used to the slightly gloomy environment of the forest, so he didn’t pay attention to the tiny details.

But if he did, he would notice the gradual change. As if the forest itself were adapting to something.

Climbing up the nearest tree, Cole used typical charlatan behavior and proceeded in a random direction.

Luck seemed to be on Cole’s side as he found his first opponent not quite long after he began searching.

His opponent this time was a girl. She had an Elemental class Innate spirit of the water attribute.

Due to the unique abilities she was using, Cole found it slightly difficult to defeat her without using his ace.

But ultimately, he won after a bit of strategy.

[+10 Academic Points] Cole received again from his watch.

This was his fifth opponent that day. He had been aggressively sprinting around looking for opponents.

"I need to make up for lost times; I need to," Cole chanted as he was about to leave his current location.

Then something caught his eye. Just to his side was a splintered tree.

It was just a splintered tree, though; it was one that had a close connection to Cole.

It was the tree that got destroyed while he was battling that armored beast.

Cole actually stopped because he couldn’t hide his interest in the beast.

They fought to a tie the last time they battled; he wanted to see how well he would fare now.

Though it had only been a short amount of time, Cole felt quite a bit had actually changed in the current.

"I would really love to battle that beast once more," Cole said.

He continued to search the environment hoping to find any sign of the beast so he could track it, but it came out fruitless.

"Sigh, Maybe next time then." He nodded his head.

He was just about to leave the scene when something attracted him again.

Growl! Growl!

It was a growling sound coming somewhere behind him. The Growl sounded extremely familiar and filled Cole with joy.

"It seems you want to battle again too," Cole said while turning towards the direction of the sound.

Cole’s heart suddenly skipped a beat.

"What is that? It isn’t the same beast, right?" He questioned.

Standing about three meters away from him was a Life beast that looked both similar to and completely different from the one he previously fought.

The beast looked much larger, Its scales sharper and darker in shade with more edges protruding off of it.

But there was one thing that didn’t change about the beast. It was its humanlike eyes that drew him in

The beast looked at Cole with eyes that displayed gratitude. It appeared to be thanking him for allowing him to grow.

Cole was partially able to read the beast’s intention from its eyes, so he could understand what was going on.

"So you grew; thankfully, I was also able to grow somewhat."

"Let’s have a real deciding battle this time," Cole shouted.

The beast also flexed its scale-covered muscles to display its complete readiness for battle.

Cole didn’t say anything anymore; he directly activated flaming fist and just to be safe, Eyes of Scrutiny.

He tried as much as possible to limit his usage, though, reducing the backlash he usually received.

The beast took the initiative and rushed straight at Cole, utilizing a different posture than it had ever displayed.

This time it attacked with its tail.

Cole noticed a faintly glittering substance just at the tip of the tail, so he tried his best to evade it.

Using the eyes of Scrutiny, it wasn’t too difficult, but the challenge arose from the speed of attacks.

Though Cole could slightly read the attacks, his body wasn’t reacting fast enough to cleanly dodge.

The tail missed by a hair’s breadth.

It was so close Cole could catch a tiny whiff of poison.

"Could it do this previously?" Cole asked.

He tried his best to take the initiative and not continuously be on the receiving end.

But the beast didn’t give him a chance. Instead, it just kept sending out attacks.

Cole even noticed the beast hadn’t utilized the shadow ability like it did in the last battle.

Seeing his opportunity

Cole sent a kick directly at the beast in front of him.

The kick was to create some distance between them.

Ding!

Cole suddenly heard while pain shot through his legs.

It felt like his attacks landed on a concrete wall, having no impact at all.

For an unknown reason, the beast slowly retreated into the shadows instead of proceeding.

"Again," Cole shouted.

He felt frustrated by the current situation.

He was about to make a conclusion that the beast left again when he suddenly sensed and even heard it.

Something was rushing straight at him from behind.

Using every bit of muscle flexibility he had. Cole turned around and faced the beast squarely.

Bang!

A small explosive sound rang out.

Cole didn’t have time to even think of further actions. Only one thought completely dominated his mind.

"This beast had become an Awakened-Level Life beast."
