Chapter 502: Chapter 168 Elite Individual

After the warp transition began.

Gazing at the universe through the external views, now reduced to countless colorful lines due to the warp, Chen Ming couldn’t help but feel a bit sentimental.

This journey, who knows how long it will be before he returns.

But reality wouldn’t give him much time to indulge.

The warp transition ended swiftly.

In the blink of an eye, Chen Ming arrived at the location where his Dusk Fleet was stationed.

Previously, it was Chen Ming’s spaceship Refraction that identified a planet with signs of life, yet with a toxic atmosphere to humans, within this Star System.

At this moment, Chen Ming’s Dusks were not on the toxic planet but another barren planet within the habitable zone of the Star System.

Even without an atmosphere, planets in the habitable zone tend to have relatively stable environmental and temperature variations.

It’s quite suitable for the Dusks to linger here.

Through the sensors of the Supreme Point, Chen Ming could see that during the days leading to his arrival, the Dusks were not idle; they had already commenced activities.

On the planet’s surface, using resources they brought from the Dusks, they were constructing a temporary base.

It’s certainly not a colony.

Because Chen Ming’s goal was first to find a sufficiently suitable Star System before building a colony.

This implied that there could be a lengthy period where Chen Ming and these Dusks could settle in one place.

While the colony site was yet undecided, it was impossible to have all the Dusks just wait for him to find the colony location.

The efficiency of such would be too low.

Therefore, it was best for these Dusks to preemptively commence tasks during the search for a colony.

A base to support the endeavors of these Dusks was indispensable.

This endeavor had begun when the Brilliant and Radiant made dozens of jumps to transport the Dusks and materials here.

All the resources capable of constructing a small outpost had been unpacked from their mountain-high storage, and consolidated in an isolated location.

The prepared resources were plentiful enough to construct multiple outposts.

Although the Brilliant, tasked with overseeing this work, was always with him, it could also remotely command the Dusks to proceed with tasks here.

Moreover, Chen Ming could assist it in liaising with other Alpha-level Dusks.

While the other Alpha Dusks weren’t specifically responsible for planetary project planning,

their computational power was significant; as long as there was guidance, calculating actual deployments per command would undoubtedly be trivial for these Alpha-level Dusks.

Additionally, the functional requirements for this base were not complicated.

All that was needed was a basic Star Port, capable of docking ships, ship maintenance, and resource transportation.

It just had to function as a station for dispatching ships to nearby Star Systems for galaxy data surveys.

Currently, these Dusks under Chen Ming’s control were tasked with determining whether there were valuable Star Systems in the area surrounding the outpost.

Although a small outpost had begun construction here,

for Chen Ming, the site of real significance for the final outpost wasn’t here.

Unpacking resources ahead of time was for convenience in usage and rapid organization post-transportation.

The temporary base and Star Port built here were just a transit station.

Or rather, one among many transit stations.

Chen Ming wouldn’t establish a colony so close to the Empire, where a single extreme distance warp could reach it.

His colony must be constructed further, deeper in the stars.

That is why a Star Port must first be established.

He needed this Star Port to serve as a base for a Cruiser to carry some resources, equipment, and Dusks for the next extreme distance warp.

After completing the next warp, he would seek out a suitable planet for a new temporary base and set up another Star Port.

Then, he would once more explore the spherical area around the Star Port for valuable Star Systems.

Though at this distance the probability of finding a suitable Star System was incredibly low,

and even if a suitable system was found, Chen Ming wouldn’t opt to settle or construct a colony there.

Nonetheless, it doesn’t mean he’ll gain nothing from these efforts.

After all, galaxy data could be sold at a high price, an aspect his superior had mentioned before.

If Chen Ming were indeed to discover a system that was not ideal for colonization due to its proximity, yet excellent, the boss might take interest.

Even if there happened to be no systems of colonial value within the close range to the Empire.

It wouldn’t mean exploration couldn’t proceed.

The universe is vast, and it’s bound to harbor numerous valuable entities.

For instance, Chen Ming didn’t anticipate his Refraction would fly blindly with an unstable Teleportation Engine and still stumble upon a region with several valuable planets.

So, exploration was imperative.

Finding something wasn’t a loss; finding nothing would simply be an experience gain for Chen Ming.

The next exploration mission would certainly proceed more smoothly.

According to Chen Ming’s plan,

while exploring around the second transit point,

he would arrange a third warp transition, establish a third transit point, and continue this scheme.

Chen Ming reckoned it would require at least seven or eight, even over ten extreme distance warps, before he could securely choose a real colony settlement site.
