Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station-Chapter 498 - 167 Departure
As the board member presented the resignation report at the meeting.
The other board members around the table exchanged glances, and a few more took out their own resignation reports admitting responsibility.
The company’s previous decisions had significant issues, especially regarding Chen Ming.
Chen Ming can now be regarded as a Psychic with combat abilities comparable to Wu An.
Even though various factors influence this, and even if Chen Ming’s combat ceiling is Wu An’s floor, winning in direct combat seemed impossible.
But since Chen Ming defeated Yan Xiong, it indicates he already possesses such capabilities.
Given the relatively close relationship with such a Psychic, compounded by the connections with existing company employees.
In exchange for the rights to reopen the mining of Sky Steel, and some priority rights in military ship purchases.
It seemed profitable previously.
But now it appears to be a definite loss.
If it weren’t for the factory manager and Old Wu, the company could have ended up making an enemy of Chen Ming.
What material assets could compare to a Psychic nearly at Wu An’s level?
The board of directors indeed made a wrong decision.
The few who clearly opposed it before were mostly the ones close to the chairman.
So in this situation, those who first proposed this proposition must resign.
The last arriving board member, who was the first to propose and lead the proposition, must be the first to resign.
At least by doing so, they can step down peacefully.
Otherwise, it wouldn’t look good if others forced them out.
One day later.
Pirate Space Station.
Since Zuo Jing and the Battle Zone had already attacked, Chen Ming wasn’t in a rush to leave as before.
He didn’t sense any danger anyway, and it was unlikely for the Battle Zone to come again soon.
If they could send two more Psychics, he would accept it.
So Chen Ming simply delayed his departure by a day.
He restocked some supplies lost in the previous battle at the Space Station.
The boss kindly replenished the supplies Chen Ming used to take down Yan Xiong.
Although due to the large volume and transportation needs, the supplies had to be sent to the boss’s colony for Chen Ming to carry himself.
But at least the boss’s action saved Chen Ming a significant amount of money.
Then, besides resupplying, Chen Ming also organized the spoils of the battle.
This time, the Battle Zone and Zuo Jing brought a total of four cruisers, over fifty destroyers, and more than two hundred guards.
In the end, none escaped.
Yet at the Pirate Space Station, only three cruisers and about eighty percent of the small ships remained.
Among the remaining three cruisers.
The Ruler was taken down by Chen Ming’s five cruisers at once, then absorbed by Yan Xiong to form a Steel Giant.
It eventually exploded, all the materials merged into chunks.
Chen Ming chose to take the larger pieces and left the scattered bits which were hard to collect.
He could dismantle these large chunks to get materials that retained their properties under high temperature and high pressure or resulting alloy materials.
The two Defenders, however, didn’t have this situation.
Although they were sunk by the fleet Chen Ming later sent, at least their basic shape was maintained.
Since the sinking of these two Defenders was mainly due to Chen Ming’s efforts, without him, the Space Station couldn’t have kept them.
So, they belong to Chen Ming.
Even though they were somewhat severely damaged, Chen Ming had the materials for repairs.
So he directly had the three Dusk cruisers that came to assist carry the two Defenders back to the temporary station through a jump, for later repair and reuse.
Of course, Chen Ming inspected the Defenders before sending them off.
Although big ships certainly come equipped with a considerable number of escape pods, some people remained inside the sunken ships and survived.
Chen Ming didn’t bother with their identities; once he got them out, he handed them over to the Space Station for processing.
The important part is the Defenders themselves.
Even though they’re company ships, designed with some excellent features removed for mass production.
At least the basics are complete, retaining the cruiser’s standard combat power.
Not losing out by keeping them.
Next were the small ships.
Because Chen Ming noticed the apparent disparity between him and Zuo Jing’s fleet on paper, he shamelessly used large weapons to sweep and clear those small ships.
Resulting in severe losses to the small ships, losses that couldn’t be recovered.
Now only about a dozen destroyers and over thirty guards remain intact.
Some were lucky; some surrendered seeing the unfavorable situation.
The people on them were taken into custody by the management bureau, and soon moved along with those found on the cruisers by Chen Ming, their destination unknown.
As for people, Chen Ming wasn’t concerned.
But he did want the ships.
The fleet he planned to use for pirate hunting hadn’t officially departed before losing three.
Though the losses were to Yan Xiong, which isn’t too bad.
But Chen Ming’s fleet strength decreased significantly.
At least that’s what Chen Ming said when talking with the deputy director about spoils distribution.
