Souls Online: Mythic Ascension-Chapter 262: Rage
Chapter 262: Rage
"Leo..."
Lily’ pitiful voice was barely audible as the smell of charred flesh filled her lungs.
Had he protected her? Was he okay?
She couldn’t see anything and nobody was talking. Reaching out blindly as if she was searching for lost glasses.
Very quickly she felt something. A body. Patting it rapidly, she felt that the body was still and unmoving.
"No! No! Noooooo!" She cried, trying to shake the body, they had to wake up! She would never forgive herself if they didnt.
Penny wasn’t any better off. As she was held in Adam’s arm, the acrid smell of burnt flesh and something more entered her nose.
While she couldn’t see his condition, she knew that Adam was extremely hurt. He didn’t even have much blood pumping through his body.
"You...okay?" Adam asked, trying his best to sound normal but failing miserably.
He was actually silently grateful that she couldnt see his current state. The flesh on his back had been burned off and his bones, including his spine were fully exposed and cracked.
Every slow breath was agonizing and his health bar was in the single digits. He didn’t even have the energy to turn his head to check and see what the situation was.
His healing had slowed to a crawl and if he didnt receive some sort of healing soon, he would die..
His situation was undeniably grim but still he had a faint smile on his face. He had protected Penny from getting more hurt. His eyes slowly drifted shut as his thoughts began to dim.
I leave the rest of this to you guys...I believe in you...
Penny could feel Adam’s heartbeat faltering, a new wave of horror washing over her as his body went limp!
"No..no...Adam!" Her desparate cry was muffled by his body that he used to shield her, even in the face of death.
She placed her hands on his chest out of sheer desperation.
’If I can see it! I’ll be damned if I cant make it move!’
It was a baseless and desperate gamble...but it worked.
The little blood that remained in Adam’s body began to move, albeit barely. She was able to keep his heart beating but she had no idea for how much longer she could.
Luna could hear her heartbeat like a drum when she heard the cries and screams. She heard Lily crying for Leo but he didn’t respond.
"Where is he?" She mumbled at first as if her vocal chords had been cut. She was unsteady as she began to walk forward, not truly knowing where she was going.
"Luna.." Greg mumbled, unsure how to respond to her, he glanced over at Leo’s motionless body, smoke rising from his limbs as Lily shook him, trying to get him to wake up.
"WHERE IS HE?!" She screamed, her vocal chords tearing from the exertion as even in the darkness, she felt like everything was closing in on her.
"Luna....he isn’t moving....he isn’t moving" Crystal was crying as she wished she didn’t want to believe her own words.
The silence that followed was deafening.
Crystal’s words rang out and seemed to freeze the entire room in place.
Luna’s knees buckled, and she collapsed to the floor. The world around her felt distant and hollow. Her breath came in short, ragged gasps as she stared ahead blindly.
"No," she whispered. "No, he promised. He promised me...He promised me he would be careful!"
Her voice cracked as tears slid down her cheeks, her body trembling from more than just the blast. It was a kind of pain that no physical wound could reach.
uddenly, a distorted whisper echoed inside Luna’s mind, slicing through the despair like a jagged blade.
Wield the madness. Do not let it wield you. freewёbn૦νeɭ.com
Her eyes snapped open.
They glowed a blackish crimson, burning with something ancient and feral.
Her body stiffened, tense like a coiled beast ready to spring.
She did not think. She did not hesitate.
Instinct took over.
With a guttural snarl, Luna surged to her feet, movements jerky and wild.
Her limbs flailed with unnatural speed, each step pounding the floor like thunder.
She was no longer human.
She was a predator.
The chaos in her mind boiled into a single, blinding urge: slaughter.
But it was not indiscriminate. Her fury fixated on one target — the Demon that had shattered her world.
Her hands clenched into claws. Her breath came ragged and sharp.
Without warning, she lunged forward with terrifying speed.
Her wild, uncoordinated assault crashed against the Demon’s grotesque form.
Axes slashed and claws tore with reckless force, each strike fueled by raw, untamed rage.
The creature staggered under the relentless onslaught, unable to predict the savage fury driving Luna, only barely dodging by a hair each time she swung her arm.
She had no plan.
No mercy.
Just endless, bloody fury.
Lily’s ears caught Luna’s furious cries sharp and wild through the silence. Her heart pounded but she forced herself to move.
She covered her closed eyes knowing she could not see. The world of light was gone to her now swallowed by darkness.
But she summoned the power of her Lifestyle Bioalchemy. It had always been theoretical no one had truly mastered it before. What she was about to do had never been done.
She felt a burning deep inside her skull as if her eyes themselves were being remade from within.
Though she remained blind she sensed life the pulsing flow of energy around her.
Her eyes began to glow bright green beneath the blindfold of darkness glowing with the raw essence of life itself.
She knew this was a gamble. If she failed she could lose her sight forever or suffer something far worse.
Her hands trembled as she reached out sensing Leo’s life force nearby. It was thin and fading flickering like a dying ember slipping away fast.
The only sources of life close enough were the brittle rotten wood of the ruined church and her own life energy.
She began to draw the fragile life energy from the dying wood, leaving it brittle, scattering like dust in the wind generated from Luna’s fight.
Then swallowing her fear she pulled from her own body the energy scorching as it left her.

Gathering the fading life from both sources she pressed her hands to Leo’s chest.
Warmth spread through her fingers as she poured the stolen energy into him.

Slowly his pulse returned. It was faint but steady.
His chest rose and fell with shallow breaths the light in his eyes flickering back.
Lily gasped pain and hope mixing.
"I’m not losing you," she whispered.
"And she can’t afford to."
