Chapter 944: She Will Become Your Sister-in-Law

It was a decision made by the Ancestral Court, and while these clans were naturally unhappy, there was nothing they could do about it.

It took a good while before everyone was finally admitted, around midday. By that point, the entire Grand Auction Hall was packed to the brim, brimming with vibrant vitality. With so many powerful beings gathered, it was only natural that the bloodline power fluctuations would be absolutely intense.

Tang San and the elders of the Blue Gold Tree clan had not yet entered the hall, but they would all be here. Though there were only ten seats inside their VIP room, all the clan elders would be present; Tang San had arranged seating for them, just outside his VIP room. freewēbnoveℓ.com

Obtaining tickets was not particularly difficult for the Blue Gold Tree clan. They were the newest stars of the Ancestral Court, and Tang San had just received his official appointment as the city lord... and had even slain the Adamant Nymph Emperor. If they wanted something, they could get it.

When they descended the mountain, their carriages were already waiting at the foot of the mountain. These were specially commissioned by the Blue Gold Tree clan upon arriving at the Ancestral Court. Crafted entirely from the trunks of Golden Trees—not sentient ones, of course—the carriages bore the miniaturized image of the Ancestral Tree, the symbol of the clan's heritage. There were ten carriages in total; the largest one in the middle was massive enough to contain two rooms and a lounge, and it was pulled by eight Pegasi. The other carriages were smaller, but still had one room and a lounge each.

After experiencing such luxury the first time, Tang San couldn’t help but sigh. Having wealth truly made life comfortable.

The First Elder noticed Tang San standing in front of the carriage, gazing toward the opposite side of the street without rushing to board. "Clan Leader, it’s about time. Should we depart now?"

Tang San was looking toward the White Tiger Hotel, observing with his divine consciousness a convoy that was approaching from that direction. It would pass in front of Council Mountain on its way to the auction venue.

"Wait a moment," Tang San said.

Shortly thereafter, a grand convoy appeared in the distance.

The most eye-catching was the enormous carriage in the center, pulled by eight Celestial Steeds.[1] The carriage was jet black, with luxurious golden patterns that gleamed dazzlingly under the sunlight. On the carriage’s side, there were seven golden claw-marks that represented its owner.

A carriage pulled by eight Celestial Steeds signified an Emperor’s personal vehicle. Of course, no Emperor was actually inside. Even in the Ancestral Court, Emperors could move about however they pleased, and they did not need a carriage to attend the auction.

In front and behind this carriage were five carriages each, belonging to the Peacock Demon clan. In other words, the passengers of the carriage owned by the White Tiger Demon Emperor were without a doubt Mei Gongzi, Su Qin, and Luo Qingzhu.

At this moment, Mei Gongzi was inside the carriage chatting with her two mothers. They were talking about items expected to appear at the auction.

"City Lord, there’s another convoy ahead of us. It seems to belong to another city lord," reported a Peacock Demon expert outside.

Mei Gongzi glanced toward Luo Qingzhu, who replied calmly, "We’ll pass directly. Let them yield the way. Didn’t they see that our carriage is the personal vehicle of an Emperor?"

If they had been in ordinary Peacock Demon clan carriages, they might have yielded the road to another city lord. But now, since they were riding in the White Tiger Demon Emperor’s carriage, there was naturally no reason for them to give way.

"Understood. Ah, I see the other side has voluntarily yielded the path. We’ll pass through directly."

Luo Qingzhu lifted the curtain slightly to look outside. Seeing the radiant golden carriages ahead, even she was slightly stunned. They seemed like ordinary carriages, yet she clearly sensed the abundant life energy emanating from them. Combined with the unique emblem on them, it made the identity of the owners quite obvious. She blurted out in surprise, "Is that the Blue Gold Tree clan’s convoy?"

Mei Gongzi, also curious, glanced outside, immediately noticing the distinctive convoy and the group of Blue Gold Tree elders standing beside it.

"This Blue Gold Tree clan really is unique," she remarked curiously.

Then, her attention landed on the figure standing in the center of the gathered elders.

Their eyes met. She saw warmth radiating from those clear blue eyes, and the figure gently nodded toward her in greeting.

Mei Gongzi returned the nod slightly. She immediately understood that the one standing prominently at the front had to be the new patriarch of the Blue Gold Tree clan.

She had heard plenty about this figure, who had risen explosively in the past months. Being a city lord herself and having access to information through the Aetherhorn Merchant Association, Mei Gongzi was fully aware of how the Adamant Nymph Emperor had been killed. Rumors said it was during a battle with this very clan leader that the projection of the Ancestral Tree appeared, awakening its power to slay the Emperor.

Naturally, he was one of the most closely watched individuals in the Ancestral Court. Though not quite as high-profile as Mei Gongzi herself—she was the very reason this matchmaking tournament was being held in the first place—many speculations surrounded him. The primary one was whether he could summon the projection of the Ancestral Tree again within the Ancestral Court. If he could, he would undoubtedly become a powerful contender for an Emperor’s seat. Yet, most analysts believed this was impossible, since the Ancestral Tree hadn’t entirely awakened. It was impossible for it to use its full power from such a great distance, and the Blue Gold Tree clan itself was not renowned for combat prowess. If anything, they were famous for the opposite.

Tang San saw Mei Gongzi sitting gracefully in the carriage, wearing an elegant silver gown, and his smile widened. Jin Miaosen, who was standing beside him, couldn't help commenting, "Brother, that must be the new Peacock Demon clan leader and the lord of Kali City, right? I've heard this matchmaking tournament was set up just for her. She looks so young and beautiful! Even without the competition and the Emperor seat thing, there would be plenty of people lining up for a chance to marry her."

"Indeed. She will become your sister-in-law. Get on the carriage," Tang San replied casually as he climbed into his carriage.

Jin Miaosen froze momentarily. Sister-in-law? What’s that?

The next moment, realization struck, and she stared at Tang San wide-eyed. "Big Brother, you mean... you can actually win? Are you confident?"

Jin Miaosen was the only one joining Tang San in this carriage, so he had no qualms spouting nonsense. He smiled and said, "I’ll do my best. What do you think about having her as your sister-in-law?"

Jin Miaosen blurted out enthusiastically, "Of course, that would be amazing! Though our cities are far apart, she’s still a city lord, and she was the champion of the last Ancestral Court Elite Competition. She has to be really strong. With such a sister-in-law backing us up, our clan would be completely secure."

Tang San smiled and nodded. "Alright, it’s decided then."

Jin Miaosen chuckled, adding playfully, "Then you really must give your all, Big Brother. Finding a sister-in-law like that isn’t going to be easy."

Tang San heaved an exasperated sigh. "Do you have so little faith in me?"

Jin Miaosen laughed. "Of course, I believe in you, Big Brother! You’re the best!"

Despite her overtly enthusiastic words, her tone sounded rather teasing. But Tang San didn’t respond further. In his heart, how could Mei Gongzi possibly marry anyone other than him?

The carriage moved forward, following the Peacock Demon clan’s convoy, heading straight to the Grand Auction Hall.

Due to the imminent start of the grand auction, the recently bustling streets of the Ancestral Court were unusually quiet today. Apart from those with auction tickets, most denizens had left the city, opting to watch via large crystal screens set up by the Crystal Nymph clan[2] around the outskirts.

The Crystal Nymph clan was raking in a huge profit this time, having purchased exclusive broadcasting rights for both the auction and the upcoming Martial Tournament. They had set up over a hundred broadcasting points around the Ancestral Court, deploying their top experts to ensure the highest quality.

1. The raws here say sixteen, but it has been stated multiple times in past chapters that Emperors ride carriages with eight Celestial Steeds, while city lords get eight lower-level Pegasi. ☜

2. This was called the Crystal clan and then the Crystal Demon clan in the raws, but it has been made abundantly clear that there is no such thing as a Crystal Demon clan, and if there is a Crystal clan, they have to be nymphs as all minerals become nymphs. ☜
