Return to the Beginning [Special pt3]

"Fuu... What I had to cut is devastating. It was nearly 3,000 words and growing! The trial promised to be an epic, every detail carefully woven together. But if I want this special to have fewer Chapters, there was no other choice. Still, I can't help but feel that sting of sadness as I say goodbye to so much work."

.....

With the capture of Peter Pettigrew, Amelia Bones didn't waste a single second. She immediately ordered his transfer to a reinforced interrogation room, where he would undergo extensive questioning under the influence of Veritaserum. At the same time, she sent an urgent letter to Azkaban, demanding the transfer of Sirius Black to the Ministry of Magic. It was time to face the truth: to interrogate both involved and finally piece together what really happened that fateful night.

Meanwhile, Harry stayed at the Leaky Cauldron with Remus Lupin. As the full moon approached, Lupin, overwhelmed by the nearness of his transformation, tried to distance himself. However, Harry beat him to it"he bought him a superior-quality Wolfsbane Potion and rented a magically soundproofed and reinforced room so he could spend the night safely.

In the days that followed, Harry took the opportunity to prepare for the upcoming school year at Hogwarts, but he also devoted time to a more personal quest: to search for any information about his brothers. However, after a week of investigation, the answer he received was as cold as an ice spell"there were no records of them in this world.

That discovery shattered him.

He spent days locked in his room, ignoring the sunlight, rejecting food, lost in a sorrow even he didn't recognize. But he knew he couldn't give up. Sirius was about to stand trial, and he had to be there.

And more than that... he knew his brothers wouldn't forgive him if he let himself fall apart. They had taught him to endure. To fight. To stand back up even when the world seemed to want to crush him.

Tony had explained to him, in one of his many brilliant speeches, that there were millions of alternate universes. Perhaps this wasn't his. But that didn't matter. If his brothers had managed to build a machine capable of crossing dimensions... then he would too. It might take years, even decades, but he would find them again.

After a long week, Harry got up. He showered, dressed properly, and with a steady heart and determined gaze, he headed to the Ministry of Magic alongside a still pale and weakened Lupin. Although the potion had kept him from losing control, the pain had still been very real.

Upon arrival, a wave of murmurs surrounded him. Everyone recognized him immediately. The Boy Who Lived. The Hero of the War.

Harry and Lupin sat in a corner of the Wizengamot courtroom, away from the noise. The lawyer Harry had hired greeted them with a slight nod. It was Ted Tonks, husband of Sirius's cousin. Harry knew him well. In his own timeline, he had been the family's attorney.

Ted stood up and, with a firm and elegant voice, began his argument.

"Your Honor, as has been clearly demonstrated, my client was imprisoned unjustly, without trial or defense, and sentenced to twelve years in Azkaban. No one took the time to confirm whether he was truly guilty. Meanwhile, the true traitor, Peter Pettigrew, lived among us as an illegal Animagus, even being honored for a false act of bravery."

The murmurs among the audience grew louder.

"My client has agreed to be interrogated under Veritaserum and has confirmed that he was never the Potters' Secret Keeper. All evidence points to his innocence."

Dumbledore, sitting among the high-ranking members of the Wizengamot, maintained a serious expression, his brow slightly furrowed.

Amelia Bones stood up.

"Minister, we have all the necessary evidence. To prolong this trial would only delay the inevitable."

Fudge, with a hint of irritation, nodded.

"Very well. Proceed with the vote."

One by one, the members of the Wizengamot delivered their verdict: innocent. Even the pure-blood houses, traditionally enemies of Sirius, voted in his favor. After all, the hatred toward the real culprit"Pettigrew"outweighed their prejudices.

"Then," Fudge declared solemnly, "Mr. Sirius Black III is hereby cleared of all charges. Furthermore, his lawyer's request is approved: a compensation of 100,000 Galleons, magical and psychological medical assistance for one year. The Ministry officially apologizes for his unjust imprisonment. An investigation will also be opened to identify those responsible for denying him a fair trial."

Fudge, seeing a political opportunity, was already thinking of the names he could sacrifice to polish his image.

"Now... let's move on to the next case."

Fudge read the next file and a look of interest crossed his face. A spark of ambition even flickered in his eyes.

Harry stood and walked with firm steps toward the center of the room. Sirius looked at him, surprised, as if waking from a long dream. He wanted to speak, but Harry subtly signaled him. Not now.

The next trial was about to begin.

Ted Tonks spoke once again.

"Mr. Harry James Potter wishes to file a lawsuit against his Muggle guardians, the Dursleys, for physical, emotional, and psychological abuse. He also requests the transfer of his magical guardianship from Mr. Albus Dumbledore to his rightful godfather, Sirius Black, who has just been exonerated."

The impact in the courtroom was immediate. All eyes turned toward Dumbledore, who remained seated in silence.

"Is this true, Albus?" Fudge asked, barely hiding a malicious grin.

"I am his magical guardian, yes," Dumbledore replied calmly. "But I was unaware of the alleged abuse. Perhaps things have been... exaggerated. After all, they are his blood family."

Harry stood up. In complete silence, he removed his shirt and rolled up his trousers to show his ankles. Scars. Bruises. Marks of old wounds. A back covered in welts. A thin, malnourished body that could not hide the story written on his skin.

"I've been in the magical world for a week and haven't gone to St. Mungo's. I didn't heal, I didn't take any potions... because I wanted you to see it. This," he said coldly, "was done by my cousin. And my uncles knew. They encouraged it. His sister even sent dogs to attack me. I slept in trees so I wouldn't get bitten. I went hungry for days as punishment for accidentally using magic. They called me a monster. Said my parents were scum."

Ted raised his voice, with restrained fury:

"Punishing a child for using uncontrolled magic isn't just inhumane"it could have turned him into an Obscurial! And we're talking about the child who saved the wizarding world!"

"That's an exaggeration, Mr. Tonks," Dumbledore interrupted hastily. "There haven't been documented Obscurials in decades."

"Oh, really? And what about your nephew, Mr. Dumbledore? Or the case in Africa reported by Mr. Scamander?"

Dumbledore pressed his lips together.

"Bring in the Dursleys," ordered Fudge.

The Aurors entered with Vernon and Petunia in shackles. Vernon yelled arrogantly:

"You can't do this! We're under the protection of English human law!"

Ted handed over the evidence: forcibly extracted memories. While it was illegal to do this to wizards without permission, the same rule did not apply to Muggles who had harmed a magical minor.

The Wizengamot watched the images. The disgust on their faces was clear.

"The crimes are: physical and emotional abuse, neglect, mistreatment of a magical minor, incitement to suppress his magical heritage... and harm to a national hero. Verdict?"

"Guilty," responded Amelia Bones without hesitation. "I request the Dementor's Kiss for Vernon and Petunia Dursley. Their son, being a minor, will receive a full memory wipe."

Vernon's screams stopped when he saw the grim faces of the court. They didn't understand what this "kiss" was, but the word alone sounded like a sentence to the soul itself.

"Wait!" Dumbledore exclaimed, raising his voice. "At least listen to Harry. They're his blood family!"

Harry looked up. A cold, ancient gleam crossed his eyes.

Dumbledore attempted to use Legilimency.

He entered... and found himself in a frozen tundra. A snowstorm roared. There was Harry, waiting with a cold smile.

"Seems like this Dumbledore isn't as clever as the ones I faced with my brothers," Harry said.

And he cast him out of his mind with brutal force.

This wasn't Occlumency. It was a special spell, created by Stephen and Loki. One that protected Harry's mind from any intruder.

Harry was terrible at Occlumency. But that spell, simple in execution and powerful in effect, shielded his mind with surprising efficiency.

Unlike Occlumency, which required constant mental discipline, this spell demanded a massive amount of magical power to remain active. Having a wizard of Dumbledore's caliber inside his mind had drained nearly all his energy in seconds.

Now, freed from that pressure, Harry was deathly pale, on the verge of collapse. Yet he still managed to stand firm... and speak.

"Trying to invade someone's mind in the middle of a trial, in front of everyone... doesn't seem very polite," Harry said with a sly smile.

The old man had walked right into his trap. After all, his brother was the self-proclaimed god of lies and trickery. Making an arrogant old man trip, one who believed he held absolute control, was easier than it looked.

"Dumbledore, what are you doing!?" Amelia shouted, furious, and nearly drew her wand.

"I apologize for that," Dumbledore replied, trying to sound calm and neutral. "As you may know, I am a born Legilimens, and my genes control my power. Sometimes... they fail."

But before they could proceed with the vote, Dumbledore raised his voice gravely:

"I would like to explain why young Potter lived with his aunt and uncle. It was for his mother's protection. She activated an ancient charm that only remains active while he lives with someone of her blood. If the Dark Lord were to return, this spell would be the key to protecting Harry... and defeating him."

Silence fell across the room. Many witches and wizards were stunned by such a revelation. Even Fudge paled before screaming in desperation:

"Stop saying nonsense, Dumbledore! The Dark Lord is dead! He died twelve years ago!"

Meanwhile, Harry hid a victorious smile.

Now not only would Fudge want the Dursleys gone to prevent Dumbledore from using them"pure-blood families might also try to kill them, hoping to curry favor with their resurrected master. Others might vote to protect them, moved by fear that Voldemort might truly return.

But Harry had already foreseen it all.

"If the safety of the magical world once again depends on an abused child, forced to live with relatives who hate all things magical and human... then what use are adult wizards? It's an insult to all who fought and died in the last war. If you force me to stay with them... I might just end my life."

His words, heavy with pain, echoed powerfully through the chamber.

The faces of many Wizengamot members, who moments earlier leaned toward supporting Dumbledore, hardened... and changed their minds.

"Let's vote now and end this," declared one of them.

The majority voted in favor. Only a minority, along with Dumbledore, opposed.

"Very well... Bring in the Dementor," Fudge ordered with a somber face.

A dark, floating figure entered the chamber, gliding coldly toward Vernon and Petunia, who couldn't see it. First, the Dementor's Kiss fell upon Vernon, who died instantly. Petunia screamed, twisted, begged... and then dropped dead as well.

But then, to everyone's shock, the Dementor turned and advanced directly toward Harry, ready to consume his soul.

"Stop, Dementor! Get away!" Fudge shouted quickly.

Dumbledore stood but did nothing. He simply watched intently, still doubting... still considering the possibility that Harry was Voldemort in another body.

"By the eternal Vishanti..." Harry whispered.

A pure, brilliant light burst from his hands, flooding the entire room and momentarily blinding everyone. A sharp, horrible screech echoed off the walls as the Dementor was consumed by the light.

Cursed objects and enchantments some wore shuddered, as if something sacred had violently expelled them.

Silence fell.

The Dementor... had been completely destroyed. No one had ever seen anything like it. A purification spell that powerful... was unimaginable.

Harry nearly collapsed, staggering from the magical effort.

Even Dumbledore, stunned, couldn't believe what he'd just seen. Voldemort would never have used such pure magic.

The Wizengamot members, still in awe, began whispering among themselves. Many thought it was that same power which had defeated Voldemort eleven years ago.

"Are you alright, Mr. Potter?" asked Amelia, approaching with genuine concern.

"Yes. But it's drained all my magic," Harry replied calmly.

"Then we'll finish this quickly so you can rest," Amelia said firmly.

Ted Tonks approached and handed him a potion Harry had given him earlier. Ted was stunned. Everything had gone exactly as the boy had planned. Every scenario, every reaction, every variable... All had been accounted for. Just like Tony Stark would've done.

Harry drank the potion and returned to his seat, eyes heavy but steady.

"Mr. Harry James Potter is hereby freed from the magical guardianship of Albus Brian Dumbledore," announced Fudge solemnly. "Custody is granted to Sirius Black. Due to the need for psychological care and emotional recovery, a medical assistant will also be assigned to address Mr. Potter's wounds, traumas, and nutritional needs."

"Meanwhile, Albus Dumbledore will be investigated for possible cases where other students may have been endangered during his tenure. Additionally, Hogwarts will be placed under supervision for one year," he added, striking his gavel firmly.
