Sold as the Alpha King's Breeder-Chapter 1312 - 67 : The Picnic
*Zara*
On the drive back to Midnight Sun, I felt a sense of pride and relief wash over me. Finally, I’d had a success when it came to finding a mated pair.
I had been beginning to completely doubt myself.
This Luna Lilly stuff was turning into a huge mess, rushing things that shouldn’t be rushed, and worse... the extent of how much worse, I didn’t know.
My thoughts turned to Lorelei, and I felt a pang of sadness wash over me at the thought of just how badly she’d been treated by that asshole Gray.
That hadn’t been my doing. It was the lilies.
Noah’s memory loss had been my doing.
My mate.
I winced, putting my hand over my heart at the thought of Noah. Everything was going so badly. I should have taken that priestess’s warning the first time, I thought, before all of this had happened.
During that thought, I pulled in and parked the car, raising a brow as I spotted the man himself coming toward me. I couldn’t help but shiver with wanting as his blazing blue gaze met mine.
What was he up to, I wondered?
He approached the car and smiled at me, something I was compelled to return. It was radiant, something that filled me with a sense of excitement.
He opened the car door for me. “Hello, beautiful.” He’d said it in the exact, charming way he typically did, before this huge mess.
“Hi, Noah. What’s going on?”
“Well, I have a surprise for you.”
“Oh?”
“I have a feeling you will really enjoy it.”
Curiosity sparked in my gaze as I dipped my head, wondering where he was going to take me. The moonlight shined above, lighting us up slightly.
I was filled with a sense of wonder, gazing at Noah as he held out his hand to me. “Will you let me take you someplace?” he asked.
After pretending to think about it, I nodded. “Alright,” I said softly, giving him a light smile.
This felt different. My melancholy from before was starting to fade into a fuzzy feeling already, something I was very much enjoying.
We walked through the front yard and into the back, heading down a lit-up winding path until coming to a blanket set up in the garden itself, where we’d taken pictures.
I gasped.
Noah had set up a picnic there, with a bouquet of wildflowers set up on the blanket next to the basket. I widened my eyes, letting out a breath.
“Noah, this spot is beautiful. You did all of this for us?”
“I did. What do you think?” His tone had a heavy dose of hope, something that made my smile widen.
“I think you did a wonderful job.” Then, I frowned, feeling a bit bad about not being quite that hungry. “I’m still full from lunch, though. I can nibble.”
I spotted some fresh fruit and licked my lips. Noah dipped his head, chuckling again. “Don’t worry about it, beautiful. I’ll eat for you.”
I snickered and gazed at him as I munched on some fruit, letting out a soft sigh. This was unexpected and just absolutely beautiful.
I watched as he began to eat a sandwich, staring into my eyes with his blazing blue eyes and sending more surges of fuzzy emotions rushing through me.
“How did things go during your trip to the matchmaking job?” he asked.
“They went very well,” I said with a happy sigh. “It was a success, for once, with no lilies involved, thank the Goddess.”
“I am happy to hear that. I was worried about you.”
“Love takes a while to blossom. I wanted to make sure it was done right, so I stayed with them for a bit,” I told him with a faint smile. “I appreciate the concern though, with the kidnapping stuff and all.”
“Yes,” he grumbled. “I know you’re capable. But with all you have been through, Zara—”
“Yeah, it’s been a bit of a wild time lately.” I sighed, thinking about how stressed I’d been lately. My stomach lurched, reminding me of my growing child. I put my hand over my midsection, thinking things over.
“How have things been lately, health-wise?” he asked.
“The healers say I’m doing fine.”
“Well, yes. But I meant aside from that, how are you feeling? You’re well enough to go matchmaking, clearly.”
“No, really?” I said, giving a light giggle.
He smirked, which made my heart flutter. I tilted my head curiously and studied him for a moment.
“What’s on your mind?” he asked softly, after swallowing a bite of his dinner.
“I was just wondering, really. What do you want for our child? If the baby is a boy... what do you want in life for a son?”
Noah’s eyes turned distant and a bit dreamy, something that touched my heart entirely. He was thinking deeply about this, someone clearly looking forward to being a father.
It was a wonderful sign, and I loved the warm smile growing across his face at that question. It nearly brought a tear to my eyes, as a matter of fact.
Hope was starting to build within me again that maybe, just maybe, this could work out.
“I envision teaching my son to be a wise, strong Alpha one day, if we have a boy,” Noah said.
“And just as stubborn as his father?”
“Oh, come on. I’m not that stubborn, am I, beautiful?”
“Oh yes, you very much are.” I winked at him, causing him to snicker and lean over, bumping my shoulder. “And if we have a girl?”
“Well,” he said softly. “I picture a little ‘daddy’s girl’ I will protect and cherish until the end.”
I reached up and cupped his cheek with my hand, noticing how he leaned into it and closed his eyes for a moment. I basked in his touch for a moment, letting out a soft sigh.
“That’s wonderful, Noah,” I whispered, my voice dripping with adoration for his answer. The tone of his voice was so passionate, and I felt my heart leap in utter joy at him.
The moonlight touched his face and caused his eyes to almost glow as he opened them again, staring at me deeply. I got lost in his gaze for a moment.

*Noah*
I was completely lost in Zara’s beautiful emerald gaze, the hope in my chest blossoming. There had been so much doubt and despair for our relationship, but maybe things could work.
We sat there for a little while, gazing at each other until I moved closer to her, leaning up against her. To my delight, she leaned into me.
My eyes turned to the stars as my smile widened. It was a beautiful night to stargaze with someone I felt a deep sense of love blossoming for.
Any frustrations about the loss of my memories vanished for a moment as I got lost in the here and now.
My attention turned back to Zara as she whispered, “I think you will make a great father, Noah. You would be a wonderful role model for a son. You would be the perfect protector for a daughter.”
“I’m beyond happy to hear you say that,” I replied. “And you, Zara. With your passion and just... you being you, you will make a perfect mother.”
She glanced over at me and gave me a shy smile. I noticed blush tinge her cheeks, which caused my heart to leap. This night was so perfect, and she was so beautiful here under the moonlight.
Hope was blossoming within me so much, as was anticipation... not only for our unborn baby, but for our relationship, too.
Maybe we could make this work, I thought.
The more we talked with one another and shared memories, the more I felt that we could. Some memories of the previous day, taking pictures with her, came into my mind.
She’d looked at the photos with so much passion, her smile lighting up the room even though we were in just a dim red light. It was gorgeous.
She was gorgeous, in mind and body. Her personality was so bright, and I could see why I’d fallen in love with her and had an unborn child with her.
“Thank you, Noah,” she said, breaking me from my thoughts. Her voice was low and gushing with happiness, which made my mood shift to even more happiness.
I grew completely lost in Zara’s gaze, my heart pounding with hope. The light reflected off her eyes in such a lovely, charming way.
Anticipation thrummed through my veins as I realized there was a very tender look to her expression. Her smile was beyond warm, and there was a certain glint to her eye.
I drew in a breath, my eyes falling on her hand as it twitched, then moved up to cup my cheek. That felt so wonderful, and I leaned into it, for the second time tonight.
It was just as wonderful as the first. Her gesture took my breath away.
I didn’t close my eyes this time, though. I gazed into Zara’s, getting lost in them. Her flowery scent enveloped me, causing me to let out a breath.
We sat there under the moonlight, locked in each other’s gazes and surrounded by the gorgeous garden flowers for what felt like hours, but it had really only been minutes.
My heart fluttered with anticipation as a sense of anxiety rushed over me.
It was time to seize the moment.
I leaned in slowly for the first kiss we’d share since reuniting. I wasn’t sure whether Zara would pull away like she did in the dark room.
The worry was billowing in my stomach that she would, which made the stretching anticipation feel like a lifetime.
Zara didn’t pull away at all.
She surrendered with a sigh, leaning into the kiss and causing my heart to practically glow with sheer passion and happiness.
She dropped her hand from my cheek to wrap it around me with her other, embracing me in a moment I’d been wanting to have with her.
This passionate embrace under the moonlit sky was nothing short of truly amazing. I was entirely lost in her, my heart pounding and my breath ragged with excitement.
The feeling of pleasure was mounting within me as I deepened the kiss, passionately exploring her mouth with my tongue and feeling her do the same to mine.
She didn’t flinch or pull away as I began to slip my hands into her dress, feeling over all the most sensitive areas of her body.
In fact, she moaned into my mouth.
The moon wasn’t full right now, and we could share this moment of passion together without worry. She pushed her body into me, and I knew she wanted me to.
I obliged her, moving to quickly remove her clothing so that I could give her everything she wanted and more.
We made love slowly under the stars and moon, her moans adding to my pleasure in all the most wonderful of ways.
The passion we shared was so rich, and I knew this time it felt even more wonderful and powerful than just the lust that drove us last time.
As she reached her climax, I peaked with her, shuddering with my own orgasm and letting every sensation of her fill my senses and mind.
Moans poured from my mouth as I locked my lips with hers, starting up a very intense kiss as we rode the waves of pleasure together.
There was definitely hope for us yet.
