Sold as the Alpha King's Breeder-Chapter 1287 - 42 : Remembering
*Noah*
Wait... what?
My mind was filled with questions. Zara ran into me, but also her mate? Or did she mean I was her mate? My heart fluttered with excitement. Could what I was hoping for be true?
Gazing into her eyes, I saw a mixture of love and disappointment there. I wondered why she would be disappointed, unless I really was her mate, but for some reason, couldn’t remember.
“Can you explain what you mean?” I asked gently, wanting to understand. “You ran into both of us, or do you mean... I’m your mate?”
“You’re my mate, Noah.”
I gasped, feeling elation rush through me. The widest grin spread on my face as I let out a joyous laugh, covering my face and shuddering with emotion for a moment.
When I calmed down, I took a deep breath. “This is amazing news,” I said breathlessly. “Zara, I’ve felt drawn to you ever since we met.”
I noted the relief and surprise on her face. Tears began to trickle down her cheeks, which I reached over and gently wiped away.
“Yes,” she gasped. “Thank the Goddess, Noah. Yes, you were the one I ran into. You were a gigantic jet-black wolf with those gorgeous blue eyes of yours.”
I beamed, feeling my cheeks warm at her description of me. The way she saw me was heartwarming, and the passion in her face reflected in her expression.
“Yep, that is definitely how my wolf looks. I was out there in the woods, but I—”
I frowned, further realization dawning on me. “I don’t remember,” I said softly.
Fear rested in my gaze as I focused on her, asking in a choked tone, “Why don’t I remember?”
“I don’t know,” Zara said softly. “But I can promise you it’s true, Noah. I’m not sure if it’s a side effect of the original tea you drank with the lilies, or something more.”
I stared into her eyes, leaning forward and taking her into my arms. She returned my embrace, hugging me tightly, letting out a soft sigh as we did so.
I closed my eyes, taking in her floral scent and getting lost in it for a moment. I wanted to remember and figure this out, but the passion and relief I felt was overwhelming.
I leaned back a little and took her lips to mine, pressing them against me roughly and feeling her shudder in my arms. This definitely felt right.
When our moment of passion ended, I leaned back and ran my fingers through her hair. I gave her a soft smile. “Is there any way you can help me remember that magical night?” I asked in a whisper.
Zara hummed softly, reaching up to tap her lip in thought. “I could contact my mentor, Niva, about this,” she suggested. “She’s just a call away.”
“Please, Zara. I really want to remember. I feel so, so happy about this, beautiful. To be mated with someone as amazing as you, I—”
I had to take a deep breath, the overwhelming emotion cutting off my words.
Zara gave me a radiant smile, something as bright as the stars. “I know you do. Don’t worry, my love. I will figure this out.”
I dipped my head, and she motioned for me to follow her to the couch. “Here, you can listen into the conversation. It’s important.”
I nodded, leaning on her as she dialed the phone for her mentor.
On the other line, I could hear an older woman say, “Hello?”
“Hi, Niva. Sorry for the sudden call, but a situation has come up,” she said.
“Oh no! Is everything okay, Zara?”
“I’d say yes and no. I found my fated mate. It’s been a wonderful experience.”
“You have!? That’s wonderful, I’m so happy for you! It’s a feeling like no other.”
“You’re very right.” She paused and gave me another beautiful smile before continuing. “But... he can’t remember it. I’m wondering what to do, he really wants to remember.”
“How unusual. I have heard of rare cases of this before, and the solution was to draw the tea with the Luna Lily. Do you have any spare lilies there?”
“I can get some,” Zara said confidently.
“Who is this mysterious mate of yours, anyway?” Niva asked. “Don’t keep me at the edge of my seat, Zara!”
“Noah Black,” she said in a loving tone, giving me a smile. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
“Really?! Wow, well, it sounds like your first job was more successful than you thought.”
Zara gave a chuckle at that.
“Oh, also, not to butt in with something else, but it’s important,” Niva added.
“Oh? What is it?”
“Your services are wanted by a Dark Realm Alpha, of the Silver Fang pack. His name is Alpha Daven.”
“Wow, that’s really good news, Niva,” Zara said. She paused, thinking things over, before replying, “I want to talk to him after we resolve the rogue threat first, though. Can you pass that on for me?”
“Of course! He will surely understand. I will keep you posted.”
“Thank you.”
Zara hung up the phone and turned to me, giving a smile. “Alright. We just need to have someone bring us some lilies, and I will brew us some tea.”
“I can send Felix and a few other guards to the cultivation site for us,” I suggested.
Zara nodded, writing down the amount she needed and the name of the botanist the guards should speak with.
While we waited, we shared breakfast. I was on the edge of my seat, wracking my brain and trying to remember that night. It deeply bothered me that I couldn’t remember a thing.
Felix was back within a few hours, though, and from there, Zara brewed the tea. I took a sip, the rich taste dancing on my tongue as I locked eyes with Zara.
The taste was both familiar and novel at the same time. I recognized it from testing with Serena, but this time was different.
When Zara took a sip of her own tea, I gasped, and memories began to surge through me. I felt a rush of pure magic rush through me.
The longing and need I had for Zara was almost overwhelming, like electricity rushing through my veins.
My heart pounded as passion crashed into me like a wave, and my eyes widened. When I looked at Zara again, I let out a gasp and took her into my arms once more.
She squealed and gave a laugh in surprise at my actions, gazing into my eyes with her beautiful emerald orbs. I winked at her, and said, “Hello, beautiful. Guess what. I love you.”
Zara gasped and reached up to touch my cheek, bringing my face down toward hers so we could share a passionate kiss.
This lasted several seconds as bliss rushed through me. The fairy tales were true. We were destined mates.
I couldn’t believe it. My hopes, which I thought were impossible, turned out to be completely true.
When the kiss ended, I gazed into her eyes and said, “Let’s spend some time together, now that we know.”
“I love that idea, Noah, my beloved.”
A wonderful tingling sensation rushed through me when she said that. We made plans to spend some time in the woods together, along with a picnic under the sun.
Caleb approached us before we headed out, curiosity in his gaze. “What’s all the commotion about?” he asked softly.
I looked at him with a huge grin. “Zara and I have successfully found our true mates, who happen to be each other.”
Other staff gathered into the den of the house, exchanging surprised and delighted looks. I felt a pang of nervousness, hoping no trouble would crop up.
I could tell by Zara’s expression of concern that she was worried, too. Given how my parents had acted, I couldn’t blame her at all.
Rather than confirm our worries, though, Caleb smiled brightly. “Oh! Well, this is wonderful news, Noah. Zara, I am pleased to hear about that and continue to look forward to you becoming our Luna.”
“Thank you very much,” Zara said, her tone relieved and excited. “It is all a big surprise, but a very wonderful one.”
Caleb tilted his head. “A big surprise? Weren’t you and Noah going to get married?”
Zara exchanged a glance with me. I grinned sheepishly and took it from there. “We were, but we weren’t entirely certain we were true mates until last night.”
He didn’t know the full truth, but he didn’t need to. Now, our marriage was certain and would remain that way, anyway. I knew Zara would make for an amazing Luna.
I meant what I’d said to the elders.
The rest of the staff were also overjoyed to hear this, having grown very fond of Zara’s passion. The chatter was positive and full of excitement as everyone discussed our revelation.
Meanwhile, Zara and I spent some time together. At one point, I had my arm around her as she gazed into a field of flowers, resting with me after a forest run.
“What are you thinking about?” I asked.
“Everything, really,” she said softly. “Our baby is going to grow up in a happy family, Noah. I am so relieved to have found you in time.”
I felt my heart blossom with even more warmth. “That’s right, beautiful. I’ll be there to see them enter the world. You can continue your career, too. I’ll help take care of the baby.”
“I knew my mate would be responsible, deep down. Now I know that for sure,” Zara said in a loving tone.
“You bet. Now I can move on from saying ‘what are friends for’ to ‘what are mates for.’”
Zara chuckled. “That’s very true,” she said softly.
“How does dinner under the moonlight sound, by the way, like our picnic in the fields.”
“I love that idea,” she said. “It’s been so beautiful out and spending this time with you has been breathtaking.”
“Any preference for food? We have plenty of options now.”
“Hmm... surprise me,” she said, gazing into my eyes and leaning in for a tender kiss.
That night, I had the staff prepare a rack of lamb for us in a delicious lemon butter sauce, with a side of butternut squash soup.
As we sat there by the candlelight and the scent hit us, Zara gasped with delight. “That smells delicious, Noah,” she said.
I grinned at her, nodding. “I was hoping you’d like it. It’s a recipe the staff loves to make for a nice night out, just like tonight.”
The beautiful sound of the woods, a mixture of whistling wind and cricket song, hit my ears as we ate. I stared into her eyes lit up by the candlelight, struck by her beauty.
Her smile lit up the night like the stars and moon above, something that made my heart leap. There was tension building between us, and when we finished dinner, I knew we needed to act on it.
We embraced, undressing quickly and feverishly feeling each other as much as we could. As my hands brushed over her body and her moans hit my ears, I shuddered with need.
The memories of that night, filling Zara up entirely, connecting our souls, entered my mind as we decided to make even more of them.
It didn’t take long before I entered her, thrusting in deeply and giving a low growl to the whimper-like moan that emitted from her lips.
This time she spoke, a breathless whisper.
“More.”
I’d give her more. I’d give her everything. My thrusts intensified, passion and bliss thrumming from us as we made love under the moon again.
All my senses were taken by her, and sheer love and lust entwined into the best feeling I’d ever felt. This was so wonderful and felt so right.
I fully believed we were destined mates. It was entirely true, and I never wanted this moment to end. But this time, when it did, I definitely needed to remember it.

The next morning, I was making breakfast again, my mind a complete fog. Something felt off, and I wasn’t sure why.
I felt a mixture of elated and lost at the same time. When I went into the bathroom, I stared into my eyes. My expression was one of confusion.
I furrowed my brow and exited the bathroom, entering the living room and almost slamming into Zara. She looked up at me with wide eyes.
“Noah?” she asked, tilting her head. “Did... you get up early again?”
“I think so?” I said, giving her a light smile.
I noticed worry cross her expression.
“Oh no... do you remember anything that happened yesterday or last night?”
“I... I can’t recall—”
