Slowly Falling into His Love Trap-Chapter 121: Furious—How Dare This Woman Suspect Him
It wasn’t until she had run far, far away from Logan Shaw that Evelyn stopped, looking towards the sky where the setting sun bled red, tears welling in her eyes.
She was pondering a question: If she hadn’t seen Logan embraced with another woman, would she have accepted Caden Lockwood’s domineering insistence on marriage?
It seemed like it wasn’t up to her to accept it or not.
Even the marriage certificate had been processed without her knowledge; did she even have the right to say "no"?
All she had left was tears and heartbreak.
Wiping away her tears, Evelyn went home, sat in her bedroom silently, just staring at the two dollars on the table.
She zoned out, and whenever she thought of how her years-long crush was now beyond reach, she felt like crying her heart out.
It always seemed like the motivation that had kept her moving forward had turned to ashes.
Just then, Caden’s voice echoed: "Is it that hard to let go of only two dollars a day?"
The sudden voice startled her so much that she snapped back to reality, realizing she had completely zoned out.
How come she didn’t hear his car when he returned?
Caden stepped forward and asked, "What are you thinking about, so focused?"
"You’re... back?" Her tone was weak.
His dark brows knit together, and seeing her reddened eyes, he reached out to touch that soft spot and asked, "Who bullied you?"
It was an order demanding an answer.
Dodging back, Evelyn was somewhat resistant to this kind of contact with Caden.
Seeing his hand stiff in mid-air, with anger swirling around, she quickly spoke up: "Do you remember the question I asked you yesterday?"
Pausing, she reminded him: "Would you ever bully those weaker than you? Can you answer me seriously now?"
Retracting his hand into a fist, Caden circled Evelyn with a cold gaze, "What constitutes bullying the weak?"
Evelyn pursed her lips, meeting Caden’s gaze, no longer wanting to beat around the bush.
"Do you remember my senior Finn Lewis?" she asked.
Caden nodded, indicating for her to continue.
"He got fired from his company, they said he offended a big shot." Evelyn spoke while observing Caden, "That big shot’s last name is ’Lockwood’."
Upon hearing this, Caden’s dark eyes narrowed, his jaw tightened, and his handsome face turned somber without a hint of a smile.
The light cast a shadow over his forehead, rendering his eyes more mysterious and cold.
He stared intently at Evelyn, "Do you believe that?"
"I..." Evelyn sighed deeply.
She didn’t know whether to believe it, that’s why she came to ask him!
Looking at him now, it seemed as though the matter wasn’t related to him.
Otherwise, why would he suddenly have that murderous expression?
Caden’s breathing intensified, veins on his temples pulsing, his complexion as dark as the sky before a storm, ominous and frightening.
He had sensed something was troubling Evelyn yesterday, but he hadn’t investigated immediately.
Now, he finally understood what she meant by the note on the money—she suspected he had secretly maneuvered against Finn.
His chest expanded with a sigh, his dark eyes slightly narrowed, his entire being emanating anger directed purely at her.
Her lack of trust infuriated him.
He softly uttered words that sent a chill down her spine, "If it was me, what would you do?" 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
