Chapter 114: Chapter 114: Bullying Her Because He’s Rich

Evelyn turned back, realizing she was far from her book. She smiled awkwardly and said in annoyance, "Can’t I just zone out?"

She was used to doodling on the money she owed him, writing lots of curse words about him, which she dared not let him find out.

Originally, she wrote it not for him to see, but simply to vent.

With a smirk, Caden had already seen Evelyn scribbling away at the money earlier, and coldly questioned, "Where’s today’s payment?"

"You’re already so rich, yet you’re always after my little bit of cash!" She pouted defiantly, "Can’t you have a bit of conscience and stop squeezing us poor folks?"

Caden raised an eyebrow, scrutinizing Evelyn up and down, and lightly uttered something that made her feel choked, "No money and still dare to sleep with me?"

Her face instantly flushed red, and she quickly handed over the two dollars with respect.

It seemed easier to face him than she imagined, not as awkward.

Last night’s events felt more like a dream.

Seeing him put the money in his pocket, she couldn’t help but raise a question that’s been lingering for a while, "Why do you insist I pay you two dollars every day?"

Also, after learning about his background, she found that his demand for fees... was really minimal!

Absolutely rock-bottom!

"Guess yourself." Caden said leisurely, "If you guess right, I’ll waive your debt."

"Okay." She replied, "Cece’s quite smart, I’ll ask her next time."

Caden lowered his gaze, "You know you’re stupid too?"

"I never said I’m stupid!" She retorted, "I just said I’m not as smart as her!"

Seeing her unwilling-to-admit-defeat expression, a strong sense of affection appeared between his brows.

This girl’s mysterious confidence was something he was ready to protect.

She glanced at him guiltily and quietly asked, "Can I ask you one more question?"

He raised an eyebrow, "Hmm." The tone was very indulgent.

She stepped forward two steps, her expression turning serious, looked at him, and softly asked, "At the banquet, how did you know Eleanor was using Cece to threaten me?"

"Otherwise, what else would make you willing to be her maid?" Caden answered so intelligently that even intellect felt ashamed, "Erin, you should spend more time with me, after all, proximity to wisdom might just make you smarter."

She rolled her eyes at him, unwilling to joke around, testing, "Would you do something like that? Using your wealth and power to bully unrelated people?"

Caden stood in place, realizing something must have happened due to Evelyn’s sudden question.

Aunt May also mentioned earlier that Evelyn seemed quite upset when she came back from school today.

With hands behind his back, he displayed an unworldly arrogance, lazily parted his lips, "What do you think?"

"I don’t know." She spoke with much difficulty, "I feel like you wouldn’t do such a domineering thing, but sometimes, you do bully me quite a lot."

Listening to her heartfelt complaint, Caden was taken aback, then burst into laughter.

His laughter was low and melodious, like vintage wine, intoxicating to the soul.

He walked up to her, his feet touching hers, looked down at her, lifted her delicate chin, forcing her to meet his gaze.

She pretended to be busy, looking around aimlessly, refusing to let her gaze fall on his face, prompting him to lean in and kiss her soft, fragrant lips.
