Slime Evolution-Chapter 46 - Open World
In a few minutes, Lohan saw the bushes swaying, and then a small, delicate white fox appeared, looking at Lohan expectantly.
"Hello Halon, I couldn’t connect during the day because of some commitments. Have you made any progress?" She asked curiously. After all, she didn’t know that Halon was also a college student.
Lohan replied, "I just logged in too. During the week, I can’t log in before this time."
"Me too. It’s good that our progress won’t be too far apart," she commented with satisfaction. "But I think starting next week, I’ll be free to play more."
Despite making faster progress than players with lower rarity bases, Lisa was dissatisfied with the little free time she had during the week, and intended to take a break from her studies to invest in the game.
Even though her mother wanted her to graduate before getting directly involved in the family business, Elysium would not wait for anyone, and the time she lost in college was time her competitors used to strengthen themselves, creating a big disadvantage for her.
Gradually, the advantage she had gained in the family through her intelligence, even though she was younger, could now be lost if she did not invest time directly in the game.
Her comment about having more free time to play took Lohan by surprise.
Thinking about his own idea of dropping out of college to invest in the game, he became even more determined to do so. Unfortunately, he could only focus exclusively on the game once it started making him money; otherwise, he would be evicted and have to live on the streets.
Realizing that this was a good moment, Lohan decided to ask about the question that had been on his mind for a while. "Lisa, your idea of forming a guild isn’t just for fun, right? Considering how valuable and powerful guilds are, I believe there must be a reason for this."
Lisa was initially surprised by the question, but remembering that she was talking to a Mythic Race Player, he would have to be stupid not to realize this, after all, Elysium’s gains were even greater for him than for her.
Nodding her head, Lisa replied. "Yes, to be honest, I can’t tell you specifically why Elysium is so valued by the leaders of humanity, unless we sign a confidentiality agreement in person, but the changes you are feeling in the real world are very real, and they will likely only become stronger and more noticeable. It shouldn’t be long before people from lower Bases also notice the changes, which will further increase the importance of Elysium."
Hearing this, Lohan further confirmed his theory that Elysium was more than just a game. The more he analyzed it, the more it seemed like another real world. The problem was that he still couldn’t understand how humans managed to create such a method of connection and strengthening...
But that wasn’t important now, so he asked. "Right, speaking of the Guild, who are the other members?"
When this was said, a silence followed, with Lisa looking away.
Lohan was suspicious of this. "Don’t tell me there are no other members?"
Hesitantly, Lisa nodded in agreement. "Yes, and no..."
Lohan was confused. "What do you mean? Explain yourself better."
Then Lisa continued. "Yes, the two of us are the only members of the Guild, but no, we won’t be the only ones. I have subordinates in the real world who will join our Guild, but when coming to Elysium, each player spawns in a random Novice Village, and we were unlucky enough to spawn in the middle of a forest, and I don’t even know where the nearest Novice Village is... so we can only meet up with them when we and they manage to leave the Novice Village."
"How can we get out of the Novice Village if we’re not even in a village?" Lohan asked, confused.
"I don’t know... initially I thought that since I’m a non-human race, I would spawn outside a Newbie Village, or find my way to a non-human Newbie Village and complete the initial quests like other players with races similar to ours are doing, before being transported to the open world. But I’ve searched high and low and haven’t found the Novata Village I was assigned to." She said, a little disappointed.
"Open World?" Lohan asked, confused. "What do you mean by that?"
Lisa explained. "The Novice Village is so called because it is a small instanced zone, with a small village, usually surrounded by a forest where players can safely level up to Level 10. Upon reaching Level 11, the player can leave this instance and finally go to the Open World, a shared world where all players meet."
The explanation made perfect sense with the idea of Novice Village that Lohan had from other RPGs he had seen, but there was a problem with this logic.
"You mean that in the Novice Village instance, there is only a small village and a forest limited in size?" he asked.
"Yes, but even after searching the entire forest, not only did I not find the boundary, I also couldn’t find our Newbie Village." Lisa sighed. "Without finding our Newbie Village, we won’t be able to complete the quests to unlock the Open World, and even if we reach Level 11, we’ll still be stuck here. I even tried to follow your Elf friend, but she’s much faster than me, and she doesn’t fly in a straight line, so I could never keep up with her..."
Her concern was understandable, but it seemed that something had gone wrong.
"She took me to her city," Lohan said.
--Boom!
A mental explosion occurred in Lisa’s head, causing her to instantly change from her disappointed expression to shock. "What?! Really?! How? Did you manage to accept any quests? Did you see other players? If I’m not mistaken, you have to talk to the village chief to get..."
Seeing her excitement, Lohan found the scene amusing, not imagining that this normally proud fox could act like this.
Noticing Lohan’s silence, Lisa calmed down and waited quietly for his explanation.
"I think our situation may be a little different from what you explained, because she didn’t take me to a small Novice Village, but actually to a large Elven city with at least hundreds of thousands of inhabitants," Lohan said.
This was another shock to Lisa, causing her eyes to widen.
"Are you sure? Every player has to go to a Novice Village as part of their adaptation to this world..." She was confused.
Lohan then explained everything he saw, the structure of the city, the various different races, the number of people, and everything he could understand there.
Upon hearing this, a hypothesis arose in her mind, something she didn’t even know if she believed or not, but which could represent both great risks and a huge golden opportunity.
"Could we already be in the Open World?"
