Sky-cracking Rider-Chapter 689: Section 684 - Inside Enemy Lines
"Chen Fei is not the enemy, release him immediately!"
Legion Commander Befas glared furiously at Valenya, incensed that he had been so boldly outmaneuvered on his own turf.
After understanding the reason for Chen Fei's appearance in Nandu City, the commander no longer regarded him as an enemy. After all, the main goal of the Righteous Army was to rebuild the Tessa Empire and seek the independence of Zhai Liuzhou again, not to allow the extraterrestrial "Sagali" race to invade and bring about the apocalypse for all the beings of Cangqiong Star.
Once he had understood the reason for Chen Fei's presence in Nandu City, the commander naturally did not consider him an enemy.
There was a tense standoff between the two legion commanders of the Rebel Army, and outside the barracks, there was a clamor, along with the sounds of fierce fighting and the thunder of magic.
A moment later, a group of officers and soldiers burst into the room. After all, this was the "Radiant Tiger" Legion's territory, and Valenya's men, tightly surrounded, quickly fell into a disadvantageous position.
"Ugh, so sleepy!"
Chen Fei's eyelids suddenly felt as heavy as if they weighed a thousand pounds, and he couldn't help but yawn.
By the time he finally realized what he had been injected with, his consciousness had involuntarily sunk into sleep.
The past few days had been filled with fighting and chaos. He had not only to act but to think. Exhaustion had built up, and once an external force gently triggered it, it was all released at once.
"Valenya, what have you done?"
The previously unarmed Legion Commander Befas, shocked and angry at Chen Fei's condition, drew his sword on the spot.
Most of Cangqiong Star's high-ranking officers are War Professionals, and the rest are Spellcasters, all of high rank. They are not only skilled in commanding battles but also formidable in combat.
"Heh, relax, just relax. It was just a little sedative. I assure you, there are no side effects. Look, he's quite safe now, isn't he?"
The legion commander of the "Undying Pigeon" Legion sneered with a weird laugh. Glancing at the "Radiant Tiger" Legion's soldiers outside the barracks, he continued, "You better clear a path, otherwise I can't guarantee what I'll do to him."
Minante, looking worse for wear, urged in the midst of his own people, "Commander, we can't let them go!"
In a public setting, he refrained from directly calling Befas 'uncle' since public and private contexts should not be confused.
Valenya, with a revolting sly smirk, cunningly said, "These two War Professionals, one Sixth Rank Earth Order and the other First Rank Heavenly Order, I don't want our relationship to break down irreparably. So heart! Befas, please think carefully and give your orders with consideration."
With Chen Fei in his grasp, he could do as he pleased.
Both Befas's and Minante's faces darkened, the situation rendering them unable to act without caution and almost powerless.
No one was capable of rescuing Chen Fei from the hands of War Professionals of such caliber.
"You'll regret this, Valenya!"
Legion Commander Befas, adopting a sword-fighting stance, stared down his adversary, resolved to seek intense vengeance.
He waved his hand, and a passage immediately opened up at the barracks hole in the wall.
"A wise man submits to circumstance. Befas, you truly are a clever man!"
The legion commander of the "Undying Pigeon" Legion, Valenya, proudly led the two War Professionals who held Chen Fei through the hole in the barracks wall to the outside, turned back to the glaring "Radiant Tiger" Legion Commander, and gave a thumbs up—a compliment on the surface but filled with sarcasm.
Evidently, he planned to take his newly acquired spoils of war and make a clean getaway.
Valenya had no doubt that a raging Befas would decapitate him without hesitation given the chance.
"I will slaughter you, I swear!"
Befas, the legion commander of the humiliated "Radiant Tiger" Legion, swore through clenched teeth as the guest was snatched away right before his eyes.
Minante signaled to the officers and soldiers around him, and at once, they closed off the hole in the wall again, leaving a few of Valenya's men who hadn't managed to follow, caught off guard and trapped.
The "Radiant Tiger" Legion's soldiers, taking advantage of their greater numbers, swarmed forward and immediately captured those few people.
The "Radiant Tiger" Legion also had captives from the "Undying Pigeon" Legion.
Valenya seemingly apologized to his unlucky subordinates, "Sorry, you just got bad luck!"
Though he said this, he felt no inclination to rescue them, expressing only a token sympathy, and that was all.
"Screech!~~~~"
A piercing screech came from the sky, and a shadow swooped down, followed by fierce gusts of wind that nearly blinded those on the ground.
Several bipedal flying dragons descended from the heavens, grabbing Valenya and his men, and without a moment's hesitation, they soared into the sky, breaking free from the "Radiant Tiger" Legion's ground encirclement.
"Commander!"
"Lord Valenya!"
"Commander, what about us?"
The few "Undying Pigeon" Legion experts not carried away by the bipedal flying dragons shouted loudly, as several of the dragons failed to secure them.
One unfortunate flying dragon was even struck by intersecting sword qi and crashed to the ground, its agonized screams ceasing almost instantly before it was swiftly torn apart.
But the dragons carrying captives didn't look back, fleeing at full speed from the "Radiant Tiger" Legion's camp.
"You damned bastard, damn you Valenya!"

Befas, who had emerged sword in hand from the barracks, roared furiously at the departing dragons. This was far from over; to get Chen Fei back, he was even prepared to go to war with the "Undying Pigeon" Legion.
His own sword qi had participated in the earlier assault, cleaving off most of a wing.
Befas turned back, his face expressionless as he stared coldly at the "Undying Pigeon" Legion experts who had not escaped, his tone chilling.
"Kill them!"
A thumb slid violently across a throat.
When the tiger shows no fierceness, who would dare treat it as a sick cat?
"No, no, don't!"
"We surrender, we surrender!"
"Spare us! Ahh!"
The soldiers of the "Undying Pigeon" were quickly overwhelmed by the troops of the "Radiant Tiger," and after the screams ceased, all that remained were the plop, plop sounds of blades piercing flesh.
Being pawns, they naturally lacked even the right to resist.
"Disaster! A great disaster! It's the 'Sagali,' it really is the 'Sagali'!"
A few people covered in blood held up a fetal-looking humanoid creature as they jogged over, excitement and panic evident on their faces.
"It's really true!"
Minante stared at the technicians in shock, it looked like the autopsy had yielded results, and it was the worst possible outcome.
"I knew it!"
For some reason, Legion Commander Befas trusted Chen Fei's words more than those of his own nephew, having never doubted him from the beginning.
-
"Ah..."
Upon awakening from a deep sleep, where in the world was he? Wait, where am I?
Having slept very comfortably, Chen Fei who wanted to stretch lazily discovered he couldn't move an inch; upon opening his eyes, he saw bars as thick as eggs. He had been locked in a cage.
This was retribution!
Chen Fei had previously locked parasitic hosts in cages, and now it was his turn to be caged in the same way, tied up tightly and incapacitated.
The materials seemed not to be metal, showing no reaction to metal elemental psychic power.
The empty room was less than ten square meters, with only a cage, various binding tools, and Chen Fei—no second person was present.
If he wasn't mistaken, this wasn't the military camp of his uncle Minante, but he had been "kidnapped" elsewhere.
"Hey, is anybody there? I need to use the toilet!"
Chen Fei yelled loudly.
He shouted for a while before someone finally came.
Footsteps approached from far to near, the door swung open with a loud clang.
"Are you awake? 'Rookie,' honestly, your flying callsign is just too funny. To capture you, I lost six subordinates, the lowest of them a Seventh Rank of Human Order."
The person arriving was the legion commander of the "Undying Pigeon," Valenya, who appraised Chen Fei up and down with the eyes of someone admiring spoils of war.
"Is that so? I'm deeply honored!"
Chen Fei wasn't actually in a rush to pee; he had casually called out, not expecting to summon such a big shot.
If he could kill a rebel army's legion commander, the Slan Dynasty would certainly award him a huge medal and an extremely generous bounty.
This big man with a bushy beard, love it!
"There's something strange about your eyes. Don't look at me like that!"
Valenya keenly sensed something was off in Chen Fei's gaze, feeling an inexplicable creepiness as if something bad was about to befall him.
Damn it, he had never felt such a weird sensation since joining the military.
Since he was trapped in enemy territory and unable to move, Chen Fei felt no panic. Instead, he spoke leisurely, "May I ask a question?"
"Don't try anything! If I want, your head will fall to the ground in the next second."
Valenya didn't know what plan he was hatching, opting to offend the "Radiant Tiger" legion rather than bringing Chen Fei back (by force).
"Are you serving the extraterrestrial 'Sagali'?"
Chen Fei stared unwaveringly at Valenya.
The latter had not been parasitized but had insisted on breaking into the military camp of the "Radiant Tiger," an action that was quite suspicious.
Jiaming Town, 150 kilometers from Nandu City, underwent a complete parasitic takeover, and parasitic hosts were found inside and around the main urban area of Nandu City. This indicated the parasitic species had long been scheming, so it wouldn't be surprising to find parasitic hosts hidden within the rebel army.
The more chaotic the situation on Cangqiong Star, the more favorable it would be for the "Sagali" invasion.
"'Sagali'? What is that? Wait, did you say 'Sagali'? Extraterrestrial Races!"
Valenya, speaking more and more, suddenly latched onto the critical keywords that felt out of place, his eyes widened, and he looked at Chen Fei incredulously.
"What a pity!"
Chen Fei shook his head with difficulty; the other party was telling the truth and indeed didn't know about the extraterrestrial race "Sagali." Otherwise, he could have achieved even greater merit, much more valuable than merely killing a rebel army legion commander.
