Skill Extraction: Exploring Dungeons-Chapter 660 - 582 Fairy Tales
"Don't run, you little scoundrel, just wait until I catch you, I'll whip your butt with this willow branch."
Just outside the residential area of the capital, a woman was chasing a seven or eight-year-old child with a willow branch in her hand.
The little boy was filthy, covered in dust, holding his butt as he ran around everywhere.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, please don't hit me."
Around him were many children of similar age, peeking out sneakily from various hiding spots.
Some were his siblings, while others were neighborhood kids.
Kane and his group happened to pass by and saw this scene.
"So many kids around," Kreya, who had been watching the scenery, couldn't help but say.
Kane nodded in agreement with Kreya's comment.
Due to the population revival policy and an abundance of food, almost every household had a varying number of children.
Along this journey, kids of all races were running around, playing with each other everywhere.
It was truly a scene of harmonious tranquility. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
At this moment, Kane felt his clothes being tugged at.
He turned his head and saw a little girl about four or five years old with sheep braid pigtails, clutching a thick fairy tale book.
Next to her was a seven or eight-year-old boy holding her hand.
"Excuse me, are you Lord Kane?"
Seeing the little girl, Kane squatted down to her level and said, "Yes, I am. Is there something you need, young lady?"
Kane didn't expect children to recognize him outside; she must have been born after they left.
"Lu Ya, what are you doing? My apologies, Your Majesty; my daughter disturbed you."
At this moment, a woman rushed over, picked up her daughter, and hastily bowed and apologized to Kane.
Kane waved it off with a smile, "It's okay, it's okay, don't worry."
The little girl kept looking at Kane, occasionally glancing at Kreya, Longbei, and taking special interest in Meizike's four arms.
"Lord Kane, did you really save the mechanical kingdom, defeat the world-threatening demon, win the Holy Grail among heroes, and then dream into the world of delicious food, ultimately rescuing us?"
The little girl suddenly opened her mouth and rattled off a string of peculiar questions.
"Huh?" Kane was a bit taken aback. There was something uncannily familiar about what she said, yet it seemed different.
It sounded like she was talking about him and his group, but then again, not really.
"Young lady, where did you..."
Kane was about to ask when he noticed the heavy book she was holding.
Fairy tales? And so freshly printed. Kane pondered.
He pointed to the book in her arms, "May I take a look?"
"Mm-hmm," Lu Ya nodded, "I'm letting you borrow it. It's Lu Ya's most cherished item, bought by my mom."
"Don't worry." Kane smiled, accepting the heavy book and started flipping through it.
The book cover had a dreamy fairy tale vibe, with cartoonish and abstract images that were still recognizable. It depicted Kane and his team, including Kreya and Lilulu.
"The Little Fairy's Journey, Part 1"
That was the book's title, and Kane immediately knew who was behind this. He also remembered Lilulu's detailed skill bar included Fairy Tale Writing.
Flipping through it quickly, it indeed chronicled Kane and his group's journey, albeit with exaggerated and whimsical elements.
Every dungeon they had been through was written about, albeit with some of the backgrounds modified and reimagined.
It became more explicit and straightforward, even teaching good morals from some events.
Even their journey through the Crystal Dungeon, which Lilulu hadn't experienced firsthand, was recreated based on Kane and their recounting.
Kane flipped all the way to the end, which detailed their victory over the kings, the destruction of the Golden Bridge, and the rescue of the Platinum Country.
Looking through the whole fairy tale, Kane couldn't help but think, Was I always this positive and uplifting?
Many of their actions had been edited and beautified to make it more appropriate for children, too sinister or adult wouldn't do.
Nonetheless, Kane immediately turned around, flashing with lightning speed, and appeared behind Lilulu, who was hiding behind Kreya.
Lilulu seemed well aware of what she had written in the book, so she was sneakily hiding behind Kreya's neck, buried in her hair.
Kane quickly extended his hand, flicking Lilulu's forehead hard.
"Ow! That hurts!"
Lilulu cried out in pain.
Hearing Lilulu's cry, Kane waved the fairy tale book in front of her, "You feel pain, huh? You don't need to write about embarrassing moments and feelings in such detail; it could set a bad example for kids."
After finishing, Kane couldn't help but tell Lilulu.
Kreya and the others became very curious as well.
Still, Kane returned the book to Lu Ya, "Thank you."
Then he asked her mother, "Where can I buy this book?"
The woman hurriedly replied, "Your Majesty, every bookstore here has it. It's been the best-selling book over the years; every household with children has a copy."
"Thank you, we'll be off now."
With that, Kane waved his hand, "Goodbye!"
"Goodbye, Lord Kane, make sure to set off heroically again!" The little girl waved her heavy fairy tale book, calling out.
When Kane turned back, he saw Lilulu caught by Kreya by the back of the neck, "Quick, tell us what you wrote in the book?"
Kane had just clearly recounted the embarrassing and emotional matters, but among the entire team, aren't they the only two with romantic feelings? This gave Kreya a bad premonition.
She feared that Lilu had written it in detail in the book, which would be a real social embarrassment.
Lilu covered her face with her hands, mumbling, "Lilu didn't write much, just that Sister Kreya is brave and beautiful."
"Isn't there a bookstore over there? Let's buy a copy and find out."
Longbei pointed to the nearby bookstore and said, having overheard Kane's issue just now.
After speaking, the group walked towards the bookstore, and indeed, they saw the fairy tales they wanted to see inside.
A very thick book, densely packed inside, with almost half of the books being this fairy tale.
This shows that it indeed sold very well.
Actually, much of the knowledge in this world was previously locked away, and the printing technology was extremely poor.
The books and paper Kane acquired from the Moon's Child ruins a millennium ago were surprisingly not much different from the paper from the late Platinum Country.
Thus, a more efficient paper-making technique was introduced, from which these books originated.
These bookstores were specifically built and requested by Kane before he left, and many templates had already been handed over to Heideline.
Unbeknownst to them, Lilu had somehow sneaked her fairy tale into them.
After everyone bought a copy, they began flipping through them as they walked along the roadside.
By the time they finished reading, Kreya's cheeks had already turned red, her whole body thoroughly flushed, emitting a lot of steam.
It had been a long time since they had seen her this shy, and Kane stood by, inexplicably watching.
In a fit of shy anger, Kreya grabbed Lilu, who was trying to escape, and with both hands, pulled her cheeks hard to the sides.
"Why did you have to write about the embarrassing stuff, and why make my and Kane's business so detailed?"
"Mmph, mmph, ah, mmph, mmph!"
"And how did you know about some of those things? You even wrote them in the book, letting so many people read it, now everyone knows."
"Ah, mmph, ah, mmph, mmph!"
Cotton Candy, always hovering above them, silently gained altitude.
YuYu, following by Kane's feet, looked straight ahead calmly, gliding forward on wheels without daring to make a sound.
Longbei finished reading the fairy tale in his hand, then closed it together: "I have to say, it's quite well-written, very realistic and reasonable."
After saying this, he slowly placed it into his space equipment.
Meizike didn't speak, just nodded quietly.
Lilu continued to mumble incoherently on the side, and only when Kreya's mood finally slightly improved did she let go.
The instant she was released, Lilu flashed onto Kane's shoulder.
Constantly rubbing her cheeks, a ribbon made of red particles floated over, swiftly treating her.
Despite Lilu's plight, no one said anything; let alone saying anything, they wouldn't even express an opinion.
But up on Kane's shoulder, Lilu continued to defend her work: "In fairy tales, perfect and romantic love is a must, of course as the only one I've seen, I had to write it well, honestly Kreya, how could you not understand?"
Just as she finished speaking, she saw Kreya charging towards her.
Lilu accelerated, swiftly flying towards the square.
Kreya followed closely at high speed, trails of steam hissing in the air.
The train had set into motion.
"Careful, don't bump into people."
Kane called from behind, as several big men followed after.
Though Kane said that, with their speed and reflexes, there's no chance of them actually colliding with anyone.
All the people on the roadside saw was a flash of colorful light and a steam-trailing figure swiftly passing, only feeling a gust of wind.
Yet when Lilu entered the square, she immediately stopped and couldn't help but look around.
Kreya, who followed close behind, also halted quickly, stopping beside Lilu.
Soon after, Kane and the others caught up with them.
They all raised their heads, looking at the significantly changed Flying Wing Plaza compared to when they last left.
The square once used as a royal coronation viewing venue prominently featured the Flying Wing sculptures encircling most of the square.
Now the square wasn't just about the Flying Wings; those stone pillars left around were completely carved out.
There stood statues of Kane and his companions, each statue over ten meters tall, intricately crafted.
Seeing the silver-gray particles remaining on them, and considering the carving technique, Kane had seen this before at the Moon's Child ruins.
No doubt, it was the handiwork of the Moon's Child, their talent manifest.
Around the square are five statues, with Kane's Shielding the Sky planted right at the center among them, and in the middle of the outer five statues sits a throne with Kane.
This was the scene when Kane was crowned by Mist before, but this time Kane's right hand stretched forward, palm open.
In a pose of bestowing upon all beings.
Beside him is Kreya, holding the liberation version of the Flying Wing Dual Blades, donned in Golden Armor, crowned with a Crown, draped in a Blood Red Cloak, with a fiery burning special effect sculpture.
This should be from when Kreya fought the Black Monarch before.
Lilu amidst a sea of flowers, a Gray Stone Giant in enormous form, Longbei clutching a Shield as he steadfastly defends the position.
Meizike with four hands outstretched, holding Potions, tending to the injured.
The statues vividly captured each person's posture and expression.
