Sinner System-Chapter 458: The Sentinels (Part 4)
Titan let out a grunt as a massive blast of Ether struck his back, stumbling forward slightly. Blood poured out before the wound swiftly closed back up, right as a devastating bolt of lightning came zipping down towards him.
He raised his right arm up, the lightning colliding against his palm and scorching his skin, the burns healing steadily as the lightning petered out.
I shot towards the middle of his torso at full speed, the energy of Devour: Cloak carving out his flesh as I flew through him, activating Lethargy, Slumber and Spite the instant I came into contact with him, before emerging out his back...hm, I missed his Core.
His position has shifted, did he twist his body so that I’d miss it? He may lack intelligence, but his instincts are quite sharp, he was able to react despite being hit by those debuffs in quick succession.
As he began to turn around, he let out another pained grunt as I unleashed Obliterate at a hundred percent, aiming for the middle of his back.
But again, I missed his Core, as he turned across the instant I fired Obliterate, the blast shooting out the left side of his torso.
Blasts of lightning and Ether hit either side of his head simultaneously, dazing him, before he roared in pain as Ira whipped his arms across and fired out a pair of rapid slashing waves of Ether, slicing Titan’s eyes and blinding him.
Acedia shot towards his left eye as I took aim at the middle of his back again, firing out Obliterate right as Acedia closed in on the hulking Monster’s eye.
Titan rapidly shuffled across to his left while simultaneously swinging his left hand over his face, Obliterate bursting through the right side of his torso as he swatted Acedia away, sending him hurtling across the air.
"[Earthquake Stomp]!" He roared, a devastating shockwave bursting out as he slammed his right foot against the ground, blowing us away before turning across and sprinting away rapidly.
My time limit with Devour: Cloak is almost up...I still have Ravage: Cloak up my sleeve, with a time limit of thirty seconds. Should I use it now? No, I should wait for an opening...
The three of us then chased after him, struggling to catch up as he sprinted away, leaving deep footprints on the ground as the entire area rumbled with every step, clouds of dust rising up in his wake as cracks spread out across the ground.
"<Get back here, you bastard>!" Snarled Ira, propelling himself forward with several pressurized bursts of Ether in rapid succession, before unleashing a barrage of piercing Ether projectiles, riddling Titan’s back and drawing out several trickles of blood.
Suddenly, Titan came to an abrupt halt and spun around, drawing back his right fist before driving it forward with a deafening roar of exertion.
Acedia and I quickly flew back, but Ira was too close to dodge in time, crossing his arms in front of himself defensively and concentrated the Ether around his body into his arms...but it made no difference.
"[Crushing Strike]!" Bellowed Titan, another devastating shockwave bursting out as his fist collided against Ira, destroying him instantly upon impact, Acedia and I getting blown away by the immense force of the attack.
I spread out my wings and unleashed a burst of Negative Energy behind myself to cancel out the momentum, Ira coming to a halt a few meters behind me...if I took a hit like that directly, I’d almost certainly be killed instantly.
"<Emerge, Apostle of Wrath: Ira>," I chanted, as I gave chase again.
"<Be careful, Chief, we should avoid getting too close to that abomination>," Ira remarked with a grimace, as he followed after me with Acedia.
"<This is so bothersome...our attacks are inflicting damage, but he’s so big that they’re little more than scratches to him>," Acedia sighed in exasperation. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
"His reaction speed is too fast. If we can just immobilize him for a moment, I can kill him, but despite his size, he’s faster than we are," I responded, before launching a barrage of Negative Energy blasts at Titan.
He’s steadily expanding the gap between us, we have to slow him down somehow and catch up.
Ira and Acedia followed my lead, firing out volleys of lightning and Ether at Titan, nearly all our attacks landing, but they hardly even slowed him down.
I took aim and fired Obliterate again, but this time, he nearly dodged it entirely, the blast grazing his left side before petering out.
His instincts are way too sharp...we’re in his blind spot, he didn’t so much as take the slightest glance back at us, and despite that, he still reacted.
The same thing happened when Acedia tried to fly into his eye...even though he was blinded, he reacted in time and swatted Acedia away.
I have less than five minutes left before Enrage runs out, I can’t afford to fire off Obliterate again, not until I have a clear opening.
Should I use Command? He has High Status Effect Resistance, and his Power Level is significantly higher than mine is, so whatever effect I inflict isn’t likely to last long.
"<My Lord, I can smell a lot of humans not too far up ahead, he’s headed straight for them>," Acedia informed me, before adding, "<I might be mistake, but I believe this is deliberate, he is targeting them>."
Not good, if we have to fight him with civilians around, most, if not all, of them will die, not just by his hand, but in the crossfire of our attacks too.
I have no choice but to take a risk...
I blasted myself through the air with pressurized bursts of Negative Energy from my feet, before whipping my left arm across as I fired out Obliterate, aiming to shooting through his knees and sever his legs.
A powerful, intense gust of wind suddenly burst out as he leapt straight up, grunting as the rapid purple beam grazed the soles of his feet, before he twisted his body sharply, spinning around in midair and slamming his palms together, triggering a shockwave and pushing me back several meters through the air.
As I brought myself to a halt with a pressurized burst of Negative Energy, I launched myself forward through the air again as Titan continued to charge forward. A malicious chuckle rang out from the massive Monster as a large crowd of people came into sight, on the other side of a row of buildings.
Seems there’s no avoiding it, more casualties are all but inevitab-...hm?
Suddenly, Titan came to an abrupt halt, a confused grunt ringing out he trembled slightly, straining against some sort of restraining force...
"Quick! I-I...I can’t hold him for long!" Petrus’s voice suddenly rang out, before I spotted him on Titan’s shadow, a tense grimace on his face...
