Sinner System-Chapter 405: Special Lesson
"Hi, it’s nice to meet you all. I’m Kaivel Intrix, and I’ll be conducting a special lesson today," I greeted the students.
"W-Woah, it’s really him!"
"It’s so cool seeing him in person!"
"Hey, he totally just looked at me!"
Huh, alright then, this is a pretty positive reception.
Today’s the 5th of September, 2170, and I was currently at the Academy. Haven’t been back here since I graduated, feels kinda weird.
It was around 2 PM in the afternoon right now, and I had a crowd of over seventy students before me.
I’d been under the impression that it would be around twenty to twenty-five of them, as in one class, but it’s every student currently enrolled.
The Academy term has now been reduced to six months, instead of a year like it was when I was here. The students are sent on one raid every month, Low Level Dungeons for the first four months, and then Mid Levels for the last two.
This current batch of students started at the beginning of July, so they’re just into their third month at the Academy.
I’ve been scheduled for a two hour session with them, so it could be worse. Why’d it have to be me, though?
There are plenty of other powerful Hunters, after all.
Well, whatever, I’m here, so I might as well see it through.
There’s way too many of them to properly teach, and a lecture would be boring anyway. Both for me and for them. So, I decided to keep it nice and simple...
"Alright, let’s get right down to it, shall we? Here’s what I’m going to have you do. I want all of you to form groups of five...since there are seventy-three of you, three groups can have six each.
After that, each group will take a turn sparring against me. Each round will have a time limit of seven minutes, your goal is to land a hit on me.
I’ll only be defending and evading, I won’t attack or counter, so you don’t have to worry about getting hurt. The goal here is to test your teamwork, and to also help identify areas for improvement.
Get creative and think outside the box, there’s a very real possibility that you’ll encounter Monsters significantly stronger than you in the Dungeons, so creativity and teamwork go a long way," I advised them, before adding, "Alright, you have five minutes, so start grouping up."
The students were quick to spring into action, forming eleven groups of five and three groups of six pretty swiftly.
Hm, some of the groups looks pretty unbalanced, but that’s fine. You aren’t always going to have ideal conditions and situations, after all, so it’ll be good to get them prepared for fighting with a disadvantage.
Plus, like I told them, I won’t be attacking at all, so there’s no danger here. I mean, it’d be pretty one-sided if I actually fought them seriously. Also, I’d end up wrecking the place.
Once the students finished forming their groups, I asked for any volunteers to go first. No one responded initially, before one team stepped forward.
Let’s have a look here...two with K-Rank Potential, and in terms of Power Level, one’s just about crossed the threshold into K-Rank, while the other’s about mid Q-Rank level.
The other three all possess Q-Rank Potential, and their current Power Levels or Mana Levels are around high J-Rank to low Q-Rank.
The K-Rank Potential pair are both Combatants, a Saber with the Wind Attribute and a Lancer with the Water Attribute.
As for the other three, there’s a Ranger with the Ice Attribute, an Enchanter and a Healer.
Hm, I guess the Healers here are going to have little to nothing to do, since I’ll be staying on the defensive and won’t be fighting back.
Well, it’s fine...
"Alright, whenever you’re ready. The timer will begin as soon as one of you makes a move, and the round will end as soon as it hits seven minutes," I remarked, as I stretched my arms out. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
I then shuffled across to my right as an arrow came shooting towards me, hitting the floor behind me as I evaded it, before the Saber and Lancer came charging towards me.
The Lancer lunged forward as he closed in and drove the spear towards me with a roar of exertion, his eyes widening as I caught the handle of the spear before the blade could reach my chest, bringing his thrust to an abrupt halt.
I then let go of it and ducked as the Saber leapt over the Lancer and unfurled a slash of her sword across at my head, streaks of flames swirling around the blade as it whizzed past the top of my head.
Looks like the Enchanter has already boosted them with a couple of Enchantments each.
The pair then scattered in either direction, a couple of arrows shooting towards me, before the Saber and Lancer charged in from either side.
Not a bad tactic, attacking me from three directions. But...
As the two of them closed in on me in unison with the arrows, I swiftly leapt straight up, several meters up into the air, the two of them just barely avoiding colliding into each other as they came to abrupt halts.
Cries of pain rang out, one of the arrows slicing across the Saber’s back and inflicting a deep gash, and the other piercing into the Lancer’s shoulder, getting lodged in.
The Lancer dropped his spear as his arm slumped to his side, the spear hitting the ground with a clatter as he shakily stumbled back, right as two more arrows came shooting up towards me.
I fired out a burst of Negative Energy off to the side from my left hand, propelling myself across to the right, before plummeting and landing back down with a soft thud.
"Don’t just stand around. Retreat and get healed," I advised the Saber and Lancer, before adding as I turned to the Ranger, "And you, keep me at bay and cover their retreat with your arrows."
Okay, this isn’t going too bad, I think I’m doing a decent job here...
