Chapter 403: Chapter 403: Another Press Conference

"I really don’t want to do this, damn it," I grumbled with a huff.

"Just get in, answer their questions, and get out. It’ll be over before you know it, and it’ll definitely feel good to get it done with," Smiled Aria, before patting my shoulder as I reluctantly headed for the curtains, getting instantly bombarded with questions the moment I stepped out.

I sighed as I approached the podium, staying quiet and waiting for the reporters to settle down.

It took a while before they finally shut up, before I leaned towards the mic and addressed them.

"Hey. To start with, I’ll say this...I’ve already submitted a full report of my experience over the last eight and a half months to the Union, they’ll publicize that information soon, so I’m not going to get into too much detail about that.

Now, then, raise your hands if you’ve got any questions, and I’ll answer you guys one by one," I remarked, before looking around as every single one of them raised their hands, unsurprisingly.

I then nodded at one of them in the front row, prompting him to go first.

"What’s the Monster world like?"

"Pretty primitive, I’d say a step below medieval. Most Monsters live out in the wild, and while there are a few buildings and structures, they’re all just stuff left over from the medieval human society that lived in that world over two centuries ago, before the Monsters wiped them out," I answered, before nodding at another reporter.

"Was it tough to adapt to that? What exactly was your living situation?"

"I lived in a cave in the middle of a forest. And yeah, it was certainly an adjustment, it was far from easy."

"May I ask what the bathroom situation was like?"

"I mean, I was in a primitive world and living in the wild, I’m sure you can fill it the blanks," I replied with a wry smile, before shifting my gaze to another reporter.

"When you got back, how did it feel?"

"Amazing, I was totally over the moon. There’s a lot of things I don’t think I’ll ever take for granted again."

"To follow up on that, how exactly did you get back?"

"The Archdemon who warped me to the Monster world, I had her warp me back. She’s dead now, though, so I don’t think there’s currently any way to cross between the two worlds, besides the Monsters that come here through the Dungeons, of course," I said in response.

"What did you do for food?"

Hm. Can’t answer that one honestly.

"I found fruits, berries and nuts in the forest, also hunted some animals. There weren’t many, though, the Monsters probably drove a lot of species to extinction, so getting meat was pretty rare," I lied.

In reality, food wasn’t a concern at all, thanks to Treasury.

"Were there any people at all? Or was it just Monsters?"

Probably shouldn’t mention that I saw a bunch of human slaves in that underground prison and just left them there.

"I did hear that there were some human left that were being kept as slaves by the Demons, but I never actually saw any. There were also other races in that world, but they were all extinct. Let’s see, I think it was Elves, High Elves, Dark Elves, Dwarves, Fairies, Demi-Humans and Witches.

I did meet a Dark Elf, the last of his kind, I heard all this from him. He was on death’s door, and asked me to turn him into one of my undead forces, so that he could keep fighting against the Monsters, and I did."

"How many Monsters are in that world? If they toppled an entire civilization, there must be a lot."

"I mean, there was no way for me to find out the exact number, but...there’s five continents-worth of them out there. So, a lot," I stated bluntly.

They’re not stupid, if a lie’s too obvious, they’ll catch on.

"What about clothing, how did you manage that?"

"I’ve got a storage space Skill, and had a few sets of clothes stored in it. They did get pretty tattered though."

The clothes I was wearing when I got back, and which would’ve been caught on the surveillance cams in that area, were pretty beat up, thanks to the army of Critical Level Monsters I had to fight.

And I’m pretty sure people know that I have a storage Skill, though not many know that I can preserve and make unlimited copies of stuff.

"Did you ever wonder if you’d ever get back?"

"No. My goal of getting back was what kept me going, so I didn’t even consider the possibility that I wouldn’t. I knew it could take a while, but even if my original plan had failed, I wouldn’t have given up. I would’ve torn that entire world apart until I found a way out, if that’s what it came to," I replied with a smile.

"Did you have to fight a lot of Monsters?"

"Uh...I mean, I did fight a lot of Monsters, but not just because I had to. I actively sought out and killed a whole lot of Monsters, in an effort to throw the Demon Lord’s forces into disarray, to give my plan the highest possible chance of success.

Though, in the end, things didn’t exactly go according to plan...but, obviously, it all ended up working out. The Union should publish the details of that soon, so I’ll leave it at that."

The reporters continued asking me more questions about my time in that world for a while, it began to feel endless.

But finally, after what felt like ages, I managed to finally wrap the conference up. I headed back behind the curtains, where Aria was waiting for me.

I approached her and wrapped my arms around her, burying my face in her chest as I let out a long, weary sigh.

"Good job out there, Kai," She smiled, as she patted my head.

"Mhm...I’m just glad it’s finally over. Let’s go home now, that was exhausting," I muttered in response.

"Sure, sounds good...let’s go home."
