Chapter 808: Chapter 806: A FICKLE HEART AND CROSSING PATHS

Ring.

The doorbell rang as Jackie opened the door and walked out.

She smiled, relieved, as she looked up at the sky, finding the air quite refreshing. With Waylon out of her life, she could now focus fully on her boyfriend.

So, what if they spent three years together? She needed to be realistic.

After all, she couldn’t survive on love alone.

"Tche! You are one coward!" suddenly a mocking female melodious voice sounded in Jackie’s ears. She froze in place, turning her head frantically to search for the person she hadn’t even seen earlier.

"Who are you?" she asked angrily as she spotted the culprit, who was leaning against the wall with her arms crossed and her face covered by a mask.

Upon seeing the woman, Jackie was reminded of her idol that she followed, Diamond, but then she shook her head. There was no way Diamond would come to such a hidden alley. Even if she did, she should be having bodyguards with her and not roam around alone like that.

The woman chuckled as she unfolded her arms so that her hands were by her belly.

"It doesn’t matter who I am, but I just find women like you very shallow. You accuse your boyfriend of so many crimes, though I am not standing on his side just so you can freely be with your other boyfriend. You cheated on him and got lured by the temptation of money. Because of it, you step down on another woman’s child’s dreams. Who the heck are you?" the woman angrily scolded her and Jackie felt her face flushing. She was so mad.

"Who cares who are you and mind your own damn business? So, what if I am doing so? It’s not like he is innocent. Anyway, I won’t bother with such an ugly person as you. If you want to live a mediocre life, then do it yourself. I will not subject myself to poverty!" Jackie retorted, explaining herself with a hint of panicking in her tone.

After doing so, she marched away while scolding the other. Escaping from the place, since she didn’t want Waylon to find her there. Who said she wasn’t embarrassed?

"Jackie! Wait!"

As she fled from the alley, she heard him calling for her and she applied oil to her feet and literally ran away, not wanting him to catch up to him.

"Jackie! We need to talk! Wait for me!" his desperate voice continued to ring in her ears but she hardened her heart and ran as fast as she could.

She shortly arrived at the familiar car and sighed with relief only after she boarded the car.

Her new boyfriend looked at her worriedly. He had seen her running towards him and he wondered if Waylon had done something to her, but when he saw Waylon running towards his car, his eyes narrowed.

He had never liked Waylon, to be honest. He was taller and more handsome than him. Even without money, he was the kind of man that would draw a lot of women.

If he wasn’t loaded, he wouldn’t have been able to get Jackie. There was no way he was going to let Waylon gain an advantage.

Without thinking further, he put the car into ignition and as Waylon neared the car, he drove off and let Waylon feed off the exhaust fumes.

Watching him coughing as he fanned the smoke away, the two of them chuckled heartily and, seeing Jackie laughing heartily without any ounce of emotion for Waylon, the new boyfriend felt much better.

While those two were feeling great, Waylon wasn’t in a good state. He watched with reddened eyes as that car drove away, leaving him in an embarrassing situation.

When Jackie left, he was in a trance, trying to understand just what happened and how it even happened in the first place. He wasn’t a saint. He had mentally cheated on her and he was very wrong for doing so.

He had pretended to be poor, but he had never made her feel very wronged. Whatever she asked for, he had tried his best to give it to her without letting it slip that he was rich. It wasn’t something that he could have avoided. Every child of his family, as well as those other six big families. They always go through the same ritual.

He was going to tell her about his family. Unfortunately, he wasn’t given the chance. When he realized that she had just broken up with him, she was in a heated argument with someone outside who had a voice very familiar. He couldn’t help but wonder if it was truly her.

However, when he got outside, he couldn’t even look at the other woman but ran after Jackie. He wanted to come clean with her or have a talk with her. Unfortunately, he was like a demon. She ran away from him.

When he got nearer, he saw the other guy. A not so familiar face, but he could tell that he was rich but richer than him. That would be a great no.

’You asked for this, Jackie. Don’t regret it!’ his jaws clenched as he looked at the car that was a distance away with an unknown emotion.

After standing there for a while, he took a deep breath and began to return to the restaurant, laughing mockingly at himself for being in such a situation.

If his friends and family were to learn about this, they would surely laugh at him. He could already foresee it.

As much as he felt hurt for Jackie breaking up with him, he felt at ease at the same time. At least he wasn’t the only one who broke the vows they made when they started dating. He no longer had to feel guilty for falling in love with Diamond.

As for his family and friends, he would face them when he sees them. However, before facing them, there was someone else waiting for him, it seems.

"You didn’t manage to stop her, did you?" that familiar voice sounded in his ears and he raised his head to look at the woman who was wearing a mask and still standing outside his restaurant while leaning on the walls.

He stopped in his tracks and looked closely at her, feeling that she looked familiar, but there was no way she would be there. That was impossible.

"You .... Who are you?" he asked cautiously, tilting his head to the side, and the woman chuckled, her voice very melodious. It made his blood race.

"Hehe, I am here for the food but never thought that I would come across something like that. Since the owner of the food can’t eat it. How about you give it to me? I will pay for the food by listening to your story. How about it?" the woman’s voice rang once again, sounding playful, which made him chuckle, finding her words very funny.

It made him feel very relaxed somehow.

"Pfft! I guess I can accept that!" he found himself agreeing to her suggestion. After all, he didn’t mind a listening ear at this point. Especially someone he might not know. Moreover, if he knew her, he wanted to see who she was.

After all, that voice was very familiar. He had heard it somewhere. Just wasn’t sure where he heard it.

"You promised!" the woman cheerfully exclaimed.

He looked at her with a faint smile on his face, relaxing at her voice and hummed before walking towards the restaurant.

The woman followed behind without saying a word and moments later, they were both inside.

"You can_" he was about to show her the table to sit at when he saw her heading for the table he set for Jackie.

"I will be sitting here. I have never truly enjoyed such a favor before! Just take down that anniversary thingy over there!" she ordered him as she sat down at that particular table, her voice sounding domineering with a hint of annoyance.

Waylon chuckled helplessly when he found himself facing such a hilarious situation. It was the first time that he had seen someone so shameless, or should he say boldly, to be at ease in such a place where another woman was supposed to be.

Moreover, she wanted him to take down the decorations as well. How could he not laugh at that?

Nonetheless, he was also not in the mood to look at those words on the wall as they reminded him of what transpired earlier.

So, he hummed a response at her before stripping down the decorations and throwing them into the trash bin. Once he was done, he turned to look at her and asked, "are you allergic to anything?" wanting to know if there was any food he could leave behind.

The woman shook her head as she propped her elbows on the table, her eyes filled with satisfaction at not seeing those anniversary balloons anymore.

"I can eat anything as long as it’s not poisonous!"

Waylon chuckled at that response and responded, "Sure. Then wait for a moment. I will bring the food," before disappearing from her view.

Once he was gone, the woman chuckled as she raised her hand to her face and removed the mask with a slight tug, revealing the face hidden beneath that mask.
