Chapter 1130. Dawn

"High Priestess, isn't this too hasty? I suggest we refine the plan even further. Three days is too soon."

"It can't be delayed. Otherwise, those incompetent fellows will lose heart. And I can only alter memories, not distort the reality. If we drag this out, those a bit clever might come to their senses."

"I understand, High Priestess." Jackal nodded respectfully and walked ahead to lead the way to the next meeting place.

Just then, Anna turned to the quiet Olivia and said, "You've seen me alter the memories of so many people, so you must have learned a thing or two, right? How about you give it a try on the next guy?"

Olivia's ability was similar to her own, and if she managed to learn Anna's techniques, Anna's camp would have two Dioites.

Olivia panicked and waved her hands frantically. "I can't do it, High Priestess. My mastery over my special ability has been improving, but I'm way too far from your level. If I try it, I'm afraid that I'll burn the target's brain."

Anna was a bit annoyed by her lack of confidence. "Why are you even panicking? With me by your side, no one is going to die, so just go ahead and give it a try."

"Hmm..." Olivia lowered her head, quietly enduring the pressure.

Anna shifted her gaze to the couple, Roy and Li Lu.

"The final battle is about to begin. When the time comes, you will lead the way to the IMF's sites. I know that you know where their sites are located."

The IMF's containment sites and laboratories were scattered all over the world, and for the sake of safety and secrecy, they were built in places rarely visited by people. In other words, those who weren't a part of the IMF had no idea how many sites were out there.

Roy was holding his fast-asleep son. His face was solemn as he remarked, "Li Lu and I are just shadows in the IMF with Level E- clearance, so we don't really know the specific locations of the IMF's facilities and sites."

"It's fine. Just tell me what you know. Don't be too nervous. I know you're not lying." Anna walked over and flicked Tobba's chin with her finger.

"Stop it, so annoying..." Tobba mumbled, burying his face deeper into his father's embrace.

Anna turned to Li Lu, who was now holding Tobba, and said, "What's with that bitter face? I'm sure you know that I treat my subordinates well. Once the IMF is under attack, they won't have any time to deal with us.

"When the time comes, you can go wherever you want. I won't stop you."

Looking at her child in her arms, Li Lu's voice quavered as she asked, "Is it really necessary for us to go this far? Many people are going to die, and the entire world will be embroiled in war."

"Feeling guilty now? Well, you and your husband can still stop me. It's still not too late," Anna said with a faint smile. She raised her right hand and grabbed the strands of hair in front of Li Lu's face before tucking them behind the latter's ear.

Li Lu tilted her head slightly to avoid Anna's white, slender fingers. She knew that Anna's kindness was merely on the surface. After all, there was a monster residing beneath Anna's human form.

Upon being reminded of that monster, Li Lu hugged her son even tighter. "We're going to leave and stay away from the conflict. We're going to raise Tobba in a place where no one can find us."

She had given up everything for her child, so at this point, Li Lu only cared about her son.

"So you're going to retire? That's not a bad idea. A simple life is the best."

Li Lu was quiet for a long while before finally speaking once again. "Were you telling the truth when you met with my child in the future? How was he? Was he doing well?"

Li Lu's words sounded like a bunch of nonsense, but when Anna was indeed a colossal, tentacled monster, Li Lu couldn't help but partially believe her words.

Anna took out a white-filtered cigarette and started smoking. "He's doing well, and your child will go through many things. You don't need to worry about him at all. He's definitely going to live until he dies."

"Tsk, you don't say?" the sleeping Tobba mumbled.

Just then, a poker card flew in front of Anna.

"You look happy today."

"Of course I'm happy. It feels great to no longer be under the mercy of anyone," Anna said, taking in a deep breath. She truly hated the feeling of being forced to hide like a rat.

"Are there many beings like us in the Subterranean Sea? And have they formed some kind of society?"

Anna wrapped an arm around the clown's shoulder and cheerfully said, "Calm down. Once we're down there, I'll give you a tour. That place is the true home of beings like us, and I'm going to look out for you once we're there."

The clown turned his head and looked at Anna's side profile.

"You're my companion, so wherever you go, I will go."

Anna looked at the clown and chuckled. It was a genuine chuckle with no hidden motives. If one were to ask if Anna had a friend on the surface world, then Anna would say that the loyal clown counted as half a friend.

Anna had many people around her, but they all had their own agendas.

However, the clown was unlike them.

"As I said, I'll repay you tenfold—no, a hundredfold for what you've done for me, and I still remember them all," Anna said, patting the clown's shoulder before letting go.

"Actually, there's something I need your help with once everything is over."

For the first time, the clown had actually asked for help.

"Sure, let me know when the time comes." Anna readily agreed.

Roy standing next to Anna opened his mouth to say something when a frantic voice echoed from his earpiece. The voice was coming from the guards outside.

"In Fhtagn's name, what on earth was that?! Be careful, everyone! Something just flew past us!!"

Anna's figure vibrated at a high frequency, melting into the floor.

Before she could disappear into the floor, the attack landed.

Boom!

A violent explosion occurred, and Anna was blasted away.

Taking to the skies, Anna saw the enemies. They were a group of people wearing pure white streamlined armor, and their faces were covered with what looked like blue holograms.

They were enveloped in white light as they descended, making them look like angels.

Anna returned to her human form amidst the expansive ruins, and she found herself surrounded. Clearly, this group of people was here for her. Soon, green corrosive flames manifested and suspended in mid-air like anti-personnel mines

Anna cast a wary gaze at the attackers.

"Who are you people? Shouldn't you communicate first before attacking?" Anna was certain that she had never encountered this group of people until now.

Unfortunately, they seemed to have no intention of offering any explanation as they flew toward Anna at breakneck speeds.
